It's funny to see Lendl relaxed and interacting with the other legends. He has such dry humour, so typically Czech...
Lendl subtly trolling Mac throughout the interview was hilarious.
4 absolute legends right there. Nice to see.
Ivan's greatness is so misunderstood...not his game so much as his demeanor. And its the one thing about his approach to the game of tennis, that I tried my best to copy and emulate. He was ALL BUSINESS, ALL THE TIME.. and the way he carried himself was in stark contrast to Johnny Mac and the posse of "interesting people" he always had around him in NYC and the Open. Unfortunately, it wasn't until the near-end of Ivan's career, that I REALLY appreciated his contribution to the game.
Much like Seles, who basically changed the game all over again, after Steffi did it...Ivan, was THE GUY who ushered in a true-blue all-court game. He was already hard to handle from the baseline..but when he hired Tony Roach and got his serve-volley together, he took tennis to another level. And guys like Agassi and Sampras, had no choice but to improve their serves and net game, in the face of how much better Lendl, got. He was a difference-maker.
What hidden treasure coming across this. Could listen to these rather than watch tennis. Good on Eurosport to bring these giant's together. Would love to hear John, Ivan, Bjorn Borg,, Jimmy Connors, and
This is by far, the best talk ever about tennis ! Always funny these disclusures on they tour old times!
These guys were the pinnacle for me in tennis, the golden years for tennis!!! Boris my favourite, he made tennis so exciting!!! Such a pity they have to grow old!!!
4 guys who got me hooked on to tennis along with conners and Edberg.
Edberg all the way...best ever....
Ivan is pretty funny...glad they like each other
You cant be serious! This talk is on line! Legends!
Gentlemen,
I just discovered your video meeting. I think it is the best time I had in a long time watching a live show: it is simply fantastic, please keep it up. Maybe it is because I am 66 y.o. and you made me dream in front of a tv screen and now you are better than ever, thank you.
Amazing interview, such a pleasure to hear these legends of the game. Great work!
I think the mentality of the big three is so much on a higher level than the new guys.
You can learn so much just by listening to these guys
I would watch these 4 talk any day. They need to do more of these.
Great reflections. Understanding the maths and physics of the game.
Very entertaining and informative discussion. Thanks.
Great interview with four of the greats of their time.
I love when they talk personally about the rivalries between them back in the day... Ivan kind of opened that convo by asking J-Mac who he lost to.
Its a bit cool that Mcenroe doesnt bite back. Lendl almost talks like he never lost to John, smile
Imagine this conversation after a round or three of drinks. Haha
I haven’t watched tennis since I was a kid and John left the game. I have no interest in people just having giant super formulated rackets and just losing all the touch and angles and everything. And I am really far away from being a sort of tennis expert. However I do a really appreciate excellence and detailed analysis technical analysis of a sport and so even if I don’t really care about tennis anymore I just love listening to these guys think. Thanks for posting.
Great stuff. Mats was my favorite ever, John my second. Cool interview.
Great to see Ivan opened up during this podcast especially trolling on Johnny Mac 😁
Love Lendl. My Dad’s favourite player. My dad would’ve been very happy to see him in talk show.
Historic interview. As Mats says, "I agree with that":)
This should be a show not just an interview.
I love these guys.. Icons of the game forever.
Ça me fait vraiment plaisir de revoir ces gars discuter ensemble !👍😊
Pareilsss 4 légendes.... je ferais tout pour revenir dans les années 80..90..
Lendl: John was the only guy who i seen who could have a volley at his shoelaces or hard volley and put it away with pace. I never met anyone like that or never played anyone like that. How would that look today , I would love to see that.
Mac: (to Lendl) How do you think it would've played?
Lendl: I think you would have trouble with pace because you had trouble with my pace.
Great conversation. I hope the younger players can give the big three more of a challenge soon.
Very cool!!! Some of the best players ever in the sport of tennis.
This was amazing 👍
Boris is the professor of tennis.
His IQ is very high
Becker rightly states that you start the game with your serve.. Sampras, Ivanisevic and Becker the 3 best servers in tennis.
This is a great for a fan of tennis.
I remember a lot of their matches , so I'm happy and sad at the same time: they are old, now, and i become older and older too every day...By the way...we miss Stefan Edberg!
Edberg was my guy. The backhand. The serve. The net game. The hair!
Yes towards the end u hav to say that edberg was missing...atleast I missed him here...
@@golfprogress head and shoulders commercial
Love these guys
Great interview.
I'd love to see the big 4 in the future sitting there on these chairs...
There is no big 4. Only 3.
Yes, in 5 years time that would be awesome
Amazing!
Love it!
This video deserves so much more views.
there are other versions of this video
@@erikthehalfabee6234 Where are the other versions? I will go and drop a like there too
@@rickeymohan8972 on lendltennis channel, come on, I just had to search that
@@erikthehalfabee6234 Haha..Thanks dude!! And my apologies for the inconvenience.
wow only Lendl voice remained of the old great fighter
20:10 Novak is the best player?
When was this video recorded?
Definitely before USOPEN 2019 I guess...
I love how McEnroe lens to his left and saying anyone disagree with him on that, as if he was going to ripp a really loud Fart towards Wilander, I wish he did.
4:48 Ivan Lendl is one year incorrect. And nobody corrects him.
Ivan is funny
Where’s Stefan Edberg?
Looks like Ivan does not play on the seniors tour
other fish to fry, I heard he plays golf
We came learn from this Guys why later players stop playing serv-drop shoot on the net, and it is becouse of beter return and much stronger top-spin and not becouse Wimbledon changed grass.
I never heard Lendl speak before, I didnt expect such a soft voice
heavy czech accent
This great interview with 4 legends was 4 years ago, since then Novak at 36 has cemented his no1 position, Rafa won Aus/Fre 2 x times and Roger retired, the younger guys are hoping Novak simply quits in a year or so because only Alcaraz, Sinner are the closest and Novak is 14 to 15 years older, in the days of these 4 ...24 was old, these guys were doing it at 17 (Boris/Mats) the younger players today are mentally weak, I'm sorry to say it.
Where's Jimmy Connors?
he hates mc enroe, that's why
@@marilou20091 😄 but now they are friends 😊
Not in the same generation of players really.
McEnroe mannarino
Lendl eubanks
Wilander dzumher
Becker dimitrov
Each a totally different character in their own right when they played. Mats was the most boring to watch in his playing days. Tennis has no more characters.
Mats was not boring.
