  • The missing square puzzle is an optical illusion used in mathematics classes to help students reason about geometrical figures; or rather to teach them not to reason using figures, but to use only textual descriptions and the axioms of geometry. It depicts two arrangements made of similar shapes in slightly different configurations. Each apparently forms a 13×5 right-angled triangle, but one has a 1×1 hole in it.

Its an illusion, i.e slope of the triangle is not the same, i.e hypotenuse oda angle is different

The aria of red triangle is bigger than summed aria of paper pieces (the squares measure not like square of red triangle, the squares are cut)

What are you talking about? The entire red outlined shape would have the same square as the pieces that you suggest are smaller.

Optical illusion. The lines of the second triangle aren’t straight. The pieces in the second triangle exceed the borders of the first one.

The first triangle the complete one area is smaller than the one with the missing rectangle optical illusion you think both have the same area

These videos are not honest, the figures have small differences in measurements and when changing the missing area it reveals that it fits tight, and then they are still kidding saying that this and that is Mathematical Fibonate, making us suckers 🤮

    I found a problem: square triangle #1 8 by 3 and square triangle #2 5 by 2 are not related; the real relation by Tales is 8/3 = 5/x then x = 15/8 = 1.875

Does it come from the gap between the edges?

No. The shape of the triangles are not the same. 4*2 and 7*3. The middel of long side of the total triangle moves depending on the position of the two triangle pices.

@@thatsnotmyname4424 The long side of the triangle (the hypotenuse) is not a straigth line, it just looks that way. No gaps between edges.

If you'd make the small triangle 3 units wide, instead of 2, its length would be 7.5: the two triangles together do not actually make a straight line, in the beginning, there's a small outward dent, then inwards. That difference in area is enough to free up one square.
