Faulty TOMY Super Cup FOOTBALL Repair - Tea Break FIX

- Hi, in this 'Tea Break Fix' video I look at an amazing toy game from the 1980s. TOMY Super Cup Football was a great game, and in my childhood I played this for many hours very competitively with my best friend John. This one was purchased faulty on eBay, and I can see a few faults with it. Let's take it apart and try and work out what is wrong.
I have a PO box here in the UK, so if you would like to send something in that MAY be featured in a repair video, then here is the address. No items will be returned, so only send it in if it is of no value to yourself.
PO Box 2597

I don't think couriers send to PO boxes so in the UK it would need to sent via Royal Mail.
Remember that this is just for entertainment and I am not an expert in these repairs. The processes in the video may not be the best way, the correct way or the safest way to fix these things. I do love fault finding and trying to fix broken things, so I hope that comes across in this 'Trying to FIX' series. Many thanks, Vince. - Jak na to + styl
I love how ridiculously loud these Tomy toys are! Great restoration Vince, it came up a real treat. Looks lovely. 👍
Ah Vince you legend. Many fun hours with this as a child. My parents still have it and recently introduced my 6 year old to the fun that is this footy game.
The issue is I don't see any players flopping around faking a injury for a free kick.
🤣
@@Mymatevince They didn't do that in the 80's! 😂😂
@@NOWThatsRichy Instead, they were more interested in doing savage slide tackles and being more hands-on
@@abzhuofficial Instead of the highly paid, mollycoddled players you see now
@@ThatBritishSnep indeed
These were brilliant, still have mine in the loft
They were a great idea for a toy 👍
@Dominic Windows 95 fan he can't add you like social media subscribe or become a patron 👍
My younger brother and I loved ours - we got it for Christmas back in the mid-1980's, I think - it was great :)
Had one of these, amazing toy and I still remember it fondly. Sometimes you look back on old toys and now they don't look as special, but this one does!
Watching you play on your own at the end was heartbreaking...poor No-Mates Vince. Time for some mandatory "Help dad" father and son time on the Super Cup Football table.
🤣🤣👍
I use to have this as a kid. What memories.
Always wanted this as a kid great tea time fix ohhh the nostalgia of it 😃
Lovely stuff. Had loads of fun with mine as a kid, my 3 children still enjoy it today. Occasionally searching the carpet for the ball after it has gone flying is all part of the fun 😁
Bloody hell- that takes me back!
Now I have the Jossy’s Giants theme tune in my head!
I had one of these back in the day and loved it vince, great to see one again at your capable hand
It turned out beautiful. And it seems to work perfectly.
Great video Vince. I always enjoy watching.
Wow I had one of these when I was younger thanks for the memories 😂
Hi Vinc I've learnt so many tech things ur making me stike 100% on my ict tests so thx for making me learn stuff
🩸 My mate Vince!!! I want to Thank you an The Cod3r for giving me the inspiration to tackle a fix of My own. It has nothing to do with this fix you did. Which by the way was perfect.👌 My fix was the M92T36 IC chip on My Nintendo Switch. The issues were it would not display on any dock, or charge with the original charger. I would have to charge it with My Samsung cellphone charger. Now it works, I even gave out a big Vince "Yes!!!" "Excellent!". Thank you Vince.
i loved this game back in the day this and Subbuteo were true classics of there era
I had this when on was young I loved it I lost all the balls and I’m sure remember making some from Tin foil and blu-tak. Lordy I missed that noise it reminds me of an era of fresh Prince on bbc2 and Star Trek the next generation on tv
That was a fun fix. Thanks Vince!
excellent tea break repair Vince great clean up job on the footy game :)
I still have the one my brother and I used to play with in the garage... seen better days but might have to have a crack at it having seen this!
I really enjoyed that repair.
Tomy should 100% remake this!
Add a rechargeable battery with USB-C cable. Find a way to make it as silent as possible. Add little LCD screens for goal celebrations that activate when you change the score. Or even better, use the screens around the edge so you can have an animated crowd and add speakers so you can play crowd noise/singing!!!
love the vintage toy videos
Very nice, looks like new after you cleaned it, no yellowed plastics or anything :)
I had this game as a kid, I lost all the little plastic balls so finished up using little ball bearings . great game.
i used to love this game, played it all the time with my mates, set up leagues etc.
This reminds me of two things. One was a similar football table in the bowling alley were my dad played in London in the 60s, Ambassador Lanes.. It was coin operated and mains powered, with the players moving along tracks under the control of levers at each end. Sometimes a player would move erratically and shake itself silly, lol. The other was a tennis game we acquired at a Sunday market around 1977. It was battery powered and had a bulb in a chimney, which moved around under the screen. When it hit any side, the chimney would rock and activate reversing switches. A large knob at each end controlled the paddles and mechanical score reels ticked over if the ball hit an end without encountering a paddle. It did need a good deal of lubrication as it hardly moved at all. When it did move it got stuck on a wall, so the chimney had to be lubricated too. It worked very reliably after that.

I got a milk shake because i really love milk shakes while i watch that amazing repair.
Thought I remembered this :) Remembered the older one you did from the video thumbnail.
Nice video, thanks :)

Have you ever thought of doing something like a museum of childhood with all those toys and gadgets? You could link it in to your youtube channel nicely too and people could experience not just a visual experience but the actual things themselves.
I bet that black platic "springy part" was out of alignment due to a knock on the player when it was at its extreme position?!? Great tea break =D
Yes, good call Chris, thanks for watching it 👍👍😎
@@Mymatevince vince do you think that this product it's beautiful
I love ur videos
Absolutely loved this when I was a kid. Wish I could remember what I did with it.
I wonder if there's any way to make it quieter though!
Hey buddy I've watched this channel for a very long time now hours of endless great content My question is what can't you fix?I'm the same when it comes to my garden and pond just think positive and we can achieve anything all the best Martyn 👍
Vince, l admire you so much, the video's are fascinating to watch. Also, I like your taste in music. Could you please acknowledge the music artist, its frustrating not knowing who they are. Keep up the great work you're doing. 👍
@trucksavage thank you so much. 👍
Thanks Vince🇬🇧🇺🇸
I had this as a kid good memories
thats a very interesting toy and great fix vince....any hand held console repairs in the future lol perhaps some psvita fixes wink wink
I used to have a full set of those red handled screwdrivers. They were standard BT toolkit issue back in the 90's. They came issued personalized with your initials on. Still used to get nicked though. Good drivers. Got some heavy use but never wore. I don't know what make they were because BT rebranded them
Garoto muito manjador de arrumar coisas do ferro-velho
Can I buy one of those over here in the states where I live? Looks like a very fun toy
Noisy yep. But sounds like mine did when new. Was never a quiet toy. Good fun. Pretty sure something similar went wrong with mine so I think it got thrown away. If only I'd seen your video 30 years earlier.
Hi, congratulations on your work, really nice. What type of electric motor is it? How many laps does he make?
Seeing all this cleaning... Do we talk about the scaling on the kettle ? ;-)
brings back great memory's :) r u gonna sell this? if so let me know or send a link if u gonna sell this on ebay.... thanks :) keep up the great work!
Sweet
Great music!
For a kids toy, that is quite a engineering masterpiece!
Although back in the day the noise must have driven your parents mad!
I still thought was faulty. Never heard such a racket. Amazing.
Oh my god I used to have one of these 😯
@9:18 ahem...ahem...merch... Subtle...very subtle... (= Good stuff Mr. V.
Hi! How does the worm gear arrangement work under the player? You mention it all works off one motor but i can’t see how the players are linked to the motor? Do the metal tracks carry DC current as well as providing a track for them to follow? Then a little motor under each player which operates the worm gear? And the direction of the motor is changed by reversing polarities on the track? I’m curious! Haha Great content by the way!
Hi vince I was wondering if you would take a look at 2 media boxes not powering up one is a magbox 250 and the other is a mi box 4s both no power I can post them and I will pay for your time as well even if not fixed think these will make good fixes I thought there would be little fuse but can't see any can't find the faulty component to why not powering on at all. One was working fine and I powered it on to nothing. One box is android tv and other box is Linux iptv box by infirmer
Would love to see these on your channel chasing the problem.
I swear I have seen you repair this before? Looks like something else or am I going crazy hah.
I did a video where I took apart a working one to see how it works👍👍👍
@@Mymatevince Ahh, makes sense now.
I always love seeing how things work, it is how I taught myself to do computing.
I'm early anyone else early to???
Can we have a update on your son dog painting? Looks great
Cool
Enjoy your cup of tee/coffee! Cheers!
Is there any trick how to clean the plastic parts in a boiling water without melting ("cooking") them?
Golden mmm golden ha tune 👌
I had one of these
you could make a custom field and replace the old bunched up one
Our Fifa in the 80's great memories.
Hey! Anyone know how to fix a broken on off switch. It works just have to wedge something there but really would like a fix if possible. Any help greatly appreciated thankyou.
Legend says, if you comment this early the legend himself replies
Sometimes that is true DMS 😎
Holey hell! That things LOUD!
Why don't you try adding a few small rubber o-rings to the feet at the bottom? They might do the trick.
bloody hell had that
ever use super glue and baking soda as a cement to tighten thing up afterward you can sand and paint like new
that game makes a right racket
Not service the motor whith some oil ?
😊👌
Teflon spray or some kind of dry lube would have been better.
😎😎😎
I have never seen one of these videos and yet it's in my subscription ? Man I have absolutely no interest in this.
First!
Won't anyone play football with Vince...
Early
Who do you support Vince?
would like to see this with a silent motor
I think quite a few parents would agree Emma🤣
How could you not use gloves
Nintendo switch video when you showed all the controllers new Wii and Nintendo 64 controller how to connect all controllers to the Nintendo switch why does your TV look like a Nintendo switch

Hi first
Don't know why anyone would want that game. Looks as boring as real soccer
Typical soccer game, tied at a high score of 1 all.
