- There's been some interest in the actual throughput testing on the UniFi Cloud Gateway Ultra. Here are some speed tests I ran and why I'm getting the results I am -- what has your experience been? Let us know in the comments!

Hi Willie, could you test with smart que enabled? Thanks
Thanks for this, replacing the unifi express with this this week. It is almost the same pricepoint but no "4 device limit" plus IDS/IPS.
Good video Willie, I'm loving my Ultra, i get 1gig symmetrical on mine too !
Thanks for the tests -- I'd be curious to see what WireGuard performance is like.
Thank you for making this video. Everything I have seen so far speaks for UCGU being my next home router :) I have older setup with ER3-lite and HPE dummy table switch + old DSL modem acting as wireless bridge. Other devices like UDR seem to take some performance hits but this one doesn't so I'm gonna be happy replacing my home network with UCGU and USW Flex Mini 5 and likely U6 Mesh for wireless access. I have 1000/100 cable at home.
How did your upgrade go?
Are there any options to mount this vertically - either mounting holes, bracket, or is this a custom solution such as Velcro, double sided tape or similar?
Mine was great but died within one day. Waiting for replacement.
Another thing on the topic of things on your PC affecting speedtest, the web browser you use also matter when you start getting above 1gb.
Got one of these for my parents, who are paying Xfinity for 1 Gbps down, 25 Mbps up. They have all IDS/IPS settings turned on, like your screen recording. Speed test from the UCG Ultra shows 1.137 Gbps down and 27 Mbps up. Going through a Lite 16 PoE to a UAP-AC-IW (long run) to a high-end desktop, I'm getting 942 Mbps down and 24 Mbps up.
I havent done this specific test. I do tend to like iperf3 for my local teating, regardless of the network hardware involved.
Iperf for us geeks is great. For the general population I prefer something more visually appealing like this speed test.
ULTRA!!!🤓😎
Please do the same test with UX
Any results with qos/sqm enabled?
Does it get hot while under load?
Not as hot as me deploying this to my prod env.
Have you tested the UCG Ultra against the UDR ?
You won't be getting more than 600-700(at best) from UDR. Source, I own one since EA, and will say that, if you have line around 500Mbps it's fine little device, especially if you need couple cameras. If you have 1Gbps line, stay away from UDR
Hi I want to see logging with Wireshark and unifi ...
What do you mean?
@@WillieHowe you can connect Wireshark to unifi log to get a better understanding of the output
Using PPPoe I get max 800/900.
Interesting, thats probably a deal-breaker for me.
@@rosspeplowit's worse than that you apply a single traffic rule for speed limit and the whole network loses 200 mbps download.
Oh man!! looks like I will be sticking to my Mikrotik RB5009 for now, I was really hoping Ubiquiti was going to up their sub £200 router game. @@str8wick3d
