I'm totally shocked seeing those small ass cages from the shop. I can't imagine something more hellish and cruel to a bird than being lifelong stuck in a straitjacket-like cage...

True but i think if the birds are out all day long like mine it would be fine at least untill u got a bigger cage. Of course not everyone can let their birds out all day , i am a house wife home all day. My birds have a large cage but are still out 8 hours a day at least and they come and go as they please. Getting budgies soon already have a big Cage for them , getting 4 .
My mom and I went to a pet store, and we looked at all the measurements on the cages, made sure there are corners, and we also chose the biggest one that is wider, but still higher up so they can fly. I cannot wait until I get my budgies in exactly 64 days! (Christmas)
Probably too late, but word of advice...birds don't fly up and down (vertically), they fly side to side (horizontally). Instead of getting a taller cage, a longer one would be better for your birds. A flight cage is both tall and long, but they're really expensive. I'm about to get a long cage for about $50. :)

I have 2 blue budgies one of them looks like Cookie he's name is Ocean. His old owners don't want to take care of him so i decided that ill get him. Sky my other budgie has a brocken leg my vet told me that she can't do anything and it really sometimes make me sad. Sky and Ocean are best buds now and sometimes Ocean comforts Sky and preen him sometimes which im really happy about. Thank you so much for all your videos it is really helpful. I hope you still make more videos in the future😁
Edit: Guys, i wanna share some bad news Ocean died from hitting his head against the cage at night (1 year ago). I eventually got a new bird which i named picasso. He and Sky get along pretty well. I really miss ocean, R.I.P Ocean

Also: Do not buy metal cages with Zinc in the metal strings. Zinc will lead to complete kidney failure in the long term. Budgies sometimes tend to lick on the metal and therefore absorb Zinc.
How am I supposed to know whether my cage has zinc?
i bought most of my 2 budgie's supplies and them too in this really small shop most their cages seemed way to small even for 1 budgie i ended up getting the biggest cage they had and both of them seem pretty happy to live in it , i am glad i brought them in because i do know that a lot of people would have just bought one of the smaller cages just to save an extra ten bucks

Denny the Budgie check Craigslist! You can get a used and affordable cage if you check frequently. They usually just need to be cleaned :)

Thank you, this was exactly the information I was looking for. I don't want our new parakeet to suffer and yet I can't afford some of the more expensive cages. I'm looking at a cage that is 25"L x 21"W x 29"H, which is larger than the minimum you recommended.

Am I missing something here? I only heard the size cage for a single budgie, not two? Also can you show some different examples for good cages for two budgies. Also, if you have the right size cage but the roof of it is rounded is the bad?

I was using a bird cage to house my mouse (used to be my childhood parakeets cage but sadly they passed) but the bar spacing is too big, and I plan to get two parakeets so I may use it as a bird cage again, but I'm not entirely sure it's big enough

I am constructing a 2 metre long x 90 metres widec 1.1 Metre high cage made from wood which has been sanded down to prevent cutting. I also used yarn netting on the sides as yarn is suitable for birds.

I have 2 budgies. They can be really silly and cute. There is a Blue one called Charlie. He is so so so cheeky at first he was really shy but now he is just so noisy. And I have my other budgie Mango. He is green and yellow. At first Charlie pushed Mango out. Mango loved the cage and he flew straight away around and landed on the perch. It took about 10 minutes for Charlie to come out but he loved the cage. They are not tame yet they are 14 weeks old and I got them yesterday. My sister wants a budgie but she is scared off them. She helps me a lot with Mango and Charlie and they play on the swing the most. It’s really cute. I love having my 2 boys beside me.

My cousin is disabled so his dad got him a bird. They keep him outside in a small hanging cage, rarely re-fill his food or water, and don't bother to clean the tray. Last time i saw maggots in there :O They never take him out of the cage, never talk to him, never play with him, and all he has is ONE SWING, a rusty bell, and a mirror you cant even see your reflection in. He always bites them because of a bad life they had given him. If they cant look after that bird PROPERLY, Why don't they just give him away to a better person? I would love to own him but we don't have any cages and in my area there are NO Bird cages big enough. I cant use the bird cage they already have because they nailed it to the veranda. And they are too afraid to even touch the bird because he bites very hard. (I wonder why)

honestly if i where you, i'd bring the little birb some millet and some toys (its surprisingly VERY easy and even relaxing to make bird toys) and give his cage a makeover the next time i came over

I have a question regarding bird health. I had a parakeet that developed a tumor right below but between his legs. Above his popo opening. Is this a lack of not giving him not enough fruits and vegetables and just giving him seeds. Could he of been given an antibiotic to dissolve an ailment like this or is this pretty much a fatal thing? I could not afford to take him to a vet. I went to a bird aviary store and bought antibiotics for him the strength was not as strong as what a vet could of provided. At first it seemed to help him but then it seemed to not work anymore than he got worse. Do you think the vet could of saved him?

Brand new to bird care here! I currently have a cage made for rats/chinchillas that is 30"x21"x27" with 3/8 inch bar spacing. While this is technically a small mammal cage, would this be suitable for a budgie or two? The only con I can see it that it only has one main door. The door is 13"x13"
well, it seems great but about the bar spacing, it needs to be 1/2 inch spacing just so that your budgie doesnt get its head stuck.

If your bird can’t stretch its wings in a round cage it’s just too small for the bird and has nothing to do with being round. If it is looking for a corner to hide in it is probably sick or stressed. I love the omelet cage.
