I've had my budgie for 13 years this year, since I was a kid. Knowing that I got him at a very young age makes me happy because it feels like we grew up together.

There is this place called, "pets Pardise" trust me, just search it up on google and it will tell you some information about the place...they have snakes,budgies,hampsters,dogs,fish, and geunnie pigs:).That is where i got my budgie from. I hope things will work out for you and you will consider getting a new pet there... P.S- everything will turn out good for you I promise!
I sent my birds to my grandma so I could go on vacation. (She’s really good at taking care of pets.) When I came back they JUST received their blue cheek patches and we were only gone 7 days. Wow. They grow up so fast 😅

I never realized that age could be told on a budgie until I got one from a pet store to be a companion for my budgie Rainbow. Rainbow is 10 years old! While the new budgie Skipper is less than 4 months. Huge difference with feathers!! Forgot to mention that Rainbow is a recessive pied! So he’ll always look young beak wise. He sure act young too! Always moving around 😊

I’m homeschooling this year due to Covid and we are getting our first budgie for our 8 yr old daughter on August 13, next Thursday! Hope that will help her cope better with being home more. I ordered the biggest cage I could find after doing lots of research on what type of cage, toys, perches, water and food dishes, what they should be eating, how to tame them and everything you can think of to take care of them. I just got the cage all set up in a good spot and all perches, toys and feeding dishes and now just waiting for the big day! She wants a young green male budgie, preferably with the bars, so I’m also researching on how to know the gender of young budgies. I think I may be just as excited as my daughter, maybe even more 😂
My budgie died when I took him on my arm for a walk, I was on going to the grass field and I put my budgie on the grass but then a black cat bit his left leg and he died of having not enough blood in it’s tiny little body. R.I.P Mikey 13-6-20
Btw the budgies that died are like a few months / a year old We had them as a pet and easily tame them because they came from a egg that were from my other two budgie pet , the mother and dad survived because the cage are separate.

My older budgie will be 9 in December and I feel like his feet have gone a bit more grey-ish with age while my 2 year old budgie's feet are as pink as can be. I found some of my older budgie's baby pictures recently and I can't get over how baby-ish he looked! He was only 8 weeks old when I first brought him home and all he wanted to do was sleep and grind his beak on my shoulder all snuggled up
My creamino budgie is about 10 months because I bought her in March. She look 1 month, so she was probably born in February and same month I was born❤️really helpful video
I have a recessive pied budgie (The one in my pfp) as well as two other ones. The third one is a baby we just bought recently (around a month ago). He now steps up and flies from my finger to the play-spot to hang out for the day with me. He also flirts with my knee. A week after we got him, he went through his first molting. We can't wait to see his eye color develop further!
My bird is pretty old now so he isn’t as active as he used to be and just hangs out in his cage most of the time. It’s kinda sad to think he is so old now but at least I must’ve taken decent care of him if he made it this long

I have 3 parakeets. Two of them have leg bands, but they can never sit still long enough for me to read them. The other one did not have a leg band when I got her from the pet store. I got the boy from a pet store and he has a leg band, but his cere was light purple, so I knew he was still a baby then. My oldest parakeet, well, I think she's younger than what I thought she was. I've had her for 5 years and got her from one of my mom's friends who couldn't take care of her anymore. All 3 very active. Just can't be sure how old they really are. I just know my boy parakeet is the youngest of all three.
I rescued an old budgie from a pet shop as he is blind in the right eye and has mite ( I think) He's doing ok so I've set up lots of mirrors in his cage near the window for reflections . I hope he lives. I've sprayed him and he's picking out his undercoat but seems to be contented so far . I've learned a lot from this site so thanks .
my budgie picks his undercoat too do you know why idk how he could possibly have mites cuz i just got home a week ago & only let him in my room & balcony & the breeder said he isnt sick cuz he has a flock of birds
You should do alot of research into them sence a you should not just lock it up in a cage with food/water you need to let it fly to relive stress you need toys for entertainment they need alot of attention give it fruits and veggies for a balanced diet do research and find out if you can provide for them

Maybe looking at nails, will help knowing, as well. I mean beyond one year. I haven’t tried that, but, saw it as another indicator in other animals. I have two budgies ( hatched at home) that are days apart brothers (6 yrs) one is vibrant and the other is not. I think the vibrant one inheireted (sp?) the healthier DNA. The parents were mutated colours, which may mean some inbreeding may have happened to produce their parents at the breeder. The vibrant one (rounded body, yellow and green head), got colours, shape from his mother, the other (grey with light yellow head) has a bigger stature like his father had (light powder blue and white).
My budgies died but one survived...they were attacked by its parents and I don’t know how it happened. I took the little one under my care and it’s starting to warm up

unless it's a black face variety, then she's under 5 months old, because she loses these bars at her first moult
