    Hi there, good job on the video. I have a situation I can't figure. 07 Fabia started off with the turn signals working intermittently. Traced it back to the body control module. I ordered a used one. All the numbers matched perfectly and the turn signals worked perfectly but later realized the rear hatch would not release. Had no current to the switch. I reinstalled the old module and wa-la, it works fine. I since have tried 2 more used modules with perfectly matching numbers and have the same problem. The module is no longer available from the main dealer.

    • @HatBoyHarvey
      @HatBoyHarvey  Před 5 měsíci

      You mean the J519 electrical control module under the drivers side dash that controls the solid state indicator chip. Oh dear that seems a difficult problem to solve if the contol units are the same they should work. how many doors have you as I have heard that you may need VAGCOM to code whether 4 or 2 door car - that maybe why it's not recognizing something - just a guess mind. I can't see why the boot release wouldn't work if everything else does and it doesn't explain why the boot works when you use the old one???? VAGCOM may pick something up anyway or you could trace the wire back to the module on a wiring diagram, check continuity and check voltage at the connection and on the pcb when activated. check the pcb's for dry older joints and re-flow (this can happen on old boards) Sorry I can't be more help or offer you the instant miracle fix, but this may need some effort and time to fix :-)

    Hi there, great video. I watched the one about the boot alignment too. I'm stuck with a latch that just won't reach the lock. I've moved it up and down (I hear the lock scrape on the outside of it but it won't marry up. I've realigned the boot, checked the hinges both inside and out but still can't close it. Also there's no rear damage so I can rule out that. It's driving me crazy. I don't suppose this is an issue you've had before?
    Many thanks, Nick

      It is a precise fit, but some things are adjustable. Have you looked at the siding guides that run in the body channel? also the simple rubber stops on the bottom edge of the tailgate, easily missed! i did a video of tailgate adjustment : czcams.com/video/vmk_X1uPydg/video.html

    I've currently got a problem with the boot space light not coming on when the boot is opened - where is the switch for this? Fuse and bulb are OK. A great series of useful little videos that cover *exactly* the problems I'm having with mine. Thanks!

    • @HatBoyHarvey
      @HatBoyHarvey  Před 6 měsíci +1

      There is a micro-switch in the boot release catch itself and also in the catch on the rear panel that sends a signal when open or closed. that could affect the light, but often it can also relate to the drivers side door lock micro-switch telling the control unit the car is still locked.

    In My Fabia Combi MK1 2005 trunk light fails to lit-up when I upen the hatch. Poking catch with small wooden hammer "solves" the problem. So it could be a matter of catch switch. Thanks for the video, now I see, I must take off this plastic crap in order to get to the catch. Somebody knows, switch can be bought as a separate part or I need whole catch? Is it different for combi?

    • @HatBoyHarvey
      @HatBoyHarvey  Před 4 lety

      My trunk light also doesn't work and I haven't got around to fixing it yet (resister in holder). I think the combi uses the same setup as the hatch with separate lock and switch. later catches are made more of plastic. I believe Later model Mk2 has the solenoid within the tailgate catch and not on the body.

    • @HatBoyHarvey
      @HatBoyHarvey  Před 2 lety

      Maybe the car battery has pour voltage, test the voltage activating the switch. Try pushing down on the boot lid whilst pressing the button. latch maybe pourly adjusted. Also the micro switch that tells the car it is locked or unlocked may be not working correctly registering openwhen it is locked. the microswitches do fail in these over time; you can usualy see close up any wear on the switch.

      There are numerous numbers for the catch depending either Left/right hand drive and model so as long as it covers your particular model it should fit, if in doubt contact the company before purchasing.

    • @HatBoyHarvey
      @HatBoyHarvey  Před 2 lety

      Hmm, I would look at the micro switch in the tailgate switch as these can were out. check the wires are not damaged and connect without corrosion. If the car is old, have you ever changed the drivers door switch mechanism anytime? as this can interfere with the functioning of all the other doors and tailgate. also the cables one the A-pillar behind the rubber boot are prone to fray. Also make sure the cars battery has good voltage and not failing.

    Hi Harvey, I am at a bit of a loss. I have changed the tailgate boot lift handle the rubber coated one as I suspected the microswitch had gone, ie there was not clicking sound when the key fob was activated. However having just replaced that with a new one. I did struggle to get the bottom inner trim back off and it was particularly difficult to realign and press home putting it back on. Sadly the boot lock still doesn't work and I can only open the boot from inside the car manually. I have tried opening the boot as normal, after opening drivers door and also the o/s rear passenger door, but still no luck. Whats the next course of action you would suggest please? Thanks for you help, I did seal the rear window washer pipe though as recommended and fastened the switch to the tailgate catch out of the way of any dripping water etc should that happen. There was no sign of water leakage or ingress though. I am not much good with electrics and don't have a multi meter either to test anything. any suggestions re next steps much appreciated! Cheers and Best
