Today was a drag at work, everything seemed hard. But each time I hit a wall, I just remembered seeing the Leafs win the Stanley Cup last night, and all was good. Thanks, Jesse!
That hour and a half NHL24 stream was amazing. You guys had a ton of fun being silly, a lot of viewers (myself included) loved it. It was nice being able to unplug for just under 2 hours & feel like a kid again loool. Also Steve/Adam you guys should stream some games if you ever have the time!
Steve’s impressions are absolutely amazing!! Like…. a true genuine comedian and talent. I haven’t laughed so hard in years … I’m not even kidding. The Steve game calls, and just the whole stream was so amazingly awesome. It was a riot. I know I can speak for many of us when is say …. I truly hope you guys do this regularly . SDPN rocks! Over and out.
I *LOVE* this you guys...I've been an EA Sports 'NHL' player since the first iteration on Sega Genesis in 1993. OMG the fun of it all! But watching these 'highlights', you SERIOUSLY have to do some slider adjustments to make the game play *SO* much more realistic. It takes some effort, but before you start a season you can also (if you care to play a game that *truly* emulates actual NHL hockey) adjust each player's ridiculous agility and puck-handling and endurance ratings, and bump up every player's 'defensive awareness'. That, combined with some game slider adjustments, makes the EA sports game SO incredible!!!
Jesse finally winning was great, such a fun stream. I love seeing how much fun you guys have. Some people on social media took this way too seriously lol
The ultimate ending to this would be Mitch stringing the leafs along to free agency and then signing with......the New York Islanders. Playing the reverse uno card that Tavares played and the universe is again in balance. Then Mitch wins the Stanley Cup with the Islanders next year after Zack Hyman wins it this year. Brendan Shanahan gets fired and the Leafs hire.....Brian Burke again to help start the rebuild....
Decades from now, people will ask each other, "where were you when you witnessed GM Jesse Blake take the Toronto Maple Leafs to the promised land?" I feel privileged to have been one of the 2500 crab people to have been a small part in this historic and momentous achievement.
I usually fall asleep to your all’s podcasts and last night I’m pretty sure I woke up in the middle of one but Steve sounded like Elmo?????? did I dream this
but I don’t think it is though honestly. Any trade with Mitch involved is a loss and we’ve got to accept that if we do trade him. The biggest value we get back is cap space so hopefully we can sign three big son of a bitches on theback and right handed.
@@EminemDaGoatTerrible take. Players are valuable assets that a team earns through the draft or trade for by giving up other assets. Losing one of the top 3 assets for nothing is suicide and there is no chance that this will happen. The people in charge are to smart for that.
@@johnsummerhill8323yes but leta not act like other teams havent lost valuable assets in free agency before. Ita just the nature of the game. You gain and lose guys in Free Agency all the time, so "losing" a trade isnt that big of a deal if it frees up that cap space.
All that talk about high salaries for elite players who play for Canadian teams, how does their take home compare to teams in states with no tax compare?
Matthews pays less than 20% in income taxes which is less than he would pay in Arizona. Players in US cities still pay Federal Income Taxes. In Canada high income earners use RCA’s
The fact that they didn't fire Shannahan (a bonified incompetent clown and failure), makes me have no faith that they're gunna have the balls to trade Marner
When all is said and done with Marner, this team should never, NEVER sign a Darren Ferris client again. Player wants to come here? Fire your agent if his name is Darren Ferris.
The play book is very simple. Every player going into their last year ALWAYS has A career high in points. The game plan will be to play him 23 minutes A game. Give him the puck. Put him on Austin and Willy’s line. He’ll be on 120 points pace and they force him out at deadline. Dangle A cup contender in front of his nose and he’s gone.
I still think Leafs should seriously entertain trading Matthews. His cap hit is so high and his trade value is probably highest it's ever going to be, that it will probably better the team instantly and then after next year, you are down with Marner and Tavares. You build your team around Nylander and go for playoff success rather than points and goals in the regular season. But hey that's just me thinking aloud. Only one I'd say should be safe atm is Nylander, he has again and again shown to have the right attitude for playoffs while others have missed the ball constantly.
What is this post covid longest distance? TD Garden to Rogers Arena is further in distance. Someone at Sportsnet obliviously didn't check there facts before posting... Boston to Vancouver is 3181.1(5119.48Km)
I've only attempted to be GM's with the Leafs. Obviously salary cap on no created players and all that stuff. My second attempt I won the cup. The first thing I did when I started the BAGM mode is trade Marner and a first round pick to Boston for Charlie McAvoy. I also traded for Mackenzie wieger. With McAvoying wieger as my first pair. I traded Tavares to Colorado for Atari lickkinen (speech to text) and treated for a goalie. Can't remember who but like a 86 overall guy. I use the remaining 8ish mil in cap space to pick up a center and a winger. Matthews won the con Smyth, Nylander put up the second most points, McAvoy put up the third most. Mcavoy was an absolute monster for me and moving Riley down to the second line gave us two unbelievable lines of defense
It really upsets me how so many have turned on Marner and how they can't get him out of town fast enough. I agree that the Leafs core 4 have not lived up to the potential in the playoffs, but to blame it on Mitch is not correct. Like it or not, since the 2016-2017 season, Marner has scored more points in the playoffs than any other Leaf, and has 639 points in 576 regular season games (12th best PPG in the NHL). In the last 3 seasons, he also Leads the Leafs in Playoff points and has 281 points in 221 games (7th best PPG in the NHL). This guy is one of the best players in the NHL. Why you would want to dump such a player. When it comes to the playoffs, if you want to be bold, you should be on Matthews case. The guy had 69 goals in the regular season (.85 GPG), but 1 in the playoffs (.20 GPG). In the past 3 season, Matthews scores at a .741 GPG clip during the regular season and .434 in the playoffs. Marner has scored at a .412 clip in season and .24 in the playoffs, so Matthew's drop off in the playoffs it greater than Mitch's. What they should have done was move Nylander last year instead of extending him. Even this past year, which was Nylander's best, Marner still had a higher PPG. In a couple years, Leafs fans will regret running Marner out of town, because this guy will continue to produce at an elite level and I predict, a level higher than that of Nylander.
Jesse needs to relocate the leafs to Ajax and rename the team as the Crab People. I think they have a play by play that says crabs. Red and blue as their colors.
I though the point of 8 year contracts (Hellebuyck conversation) was that player gets more safety (in terms of earnings) but team gets to sign them at lower cap hit. I got the impression that Hellebuyck signed at discount for 8 year = isn't that exactly how it is supposed to be? Get ready for loooong CBA negotiations when owners start to argue for 5 year max deals again if the extra years don't lower the AAV.
BS on the Marner trade. If any team wants Marner as a last piece for a cup then they don’t care if Marner wants to stay in Toronto or not. Case in point Tkachuk. He made it very well known he was leaving and Calgary still got Huberdeau for him who at the time was a top 5 scorer. Yeah it didn’t work out for Calgary but at the time the haul was considered very good for Tkachuk. The guy on the left just likes to hear himself talk because mostly verbal diarrhea comes out of his mouth. The leverage talk is all crap, if a team really wants Marner then they will give up good pieces for him.
@adam. From an Islanders fan point of view....Lambert did NOT get buy-in from the team, which is why the team failed to respond. The team is bad...Even Roy didn't get a whole lot of success out of them. Lambert is the MEAN coach. He will yell the ear off of Matthews, He was bad cop in a good cop bad cop scenario with Trotz. He will have the same dynamic with Berube.
murphy, bozak, gardiner, kadri, andersen....those are just the ones off the top of my head. "(The) guy does everything for this team," winger Mitch Marner said. "People don't give him enough credit." (jake gardiner). leafs fans are about as smart as yankees fans so when you give saros 10M and montour 8M...you asked for it.
The agent stuff has no effect on what other teams will pay Mitch or what other teams will give up in a trade. All Front Offices have former agents who look right through this BS
OK, the Marner talk is out of hand and I guess we'll have to get used to it staying out of hand. But I was disapointed that Steve--who constantly mentions Covid--did not seem to realize that most of those great player contracts were signed post-Covid. Had Covid not happened, Marner's contract would probably look about right in the NHL. He's been lucky in that he avoided the Covid salary contraction: he signed before it started and after it, we hope, ended. Not his fault. I'm not declaring Marner blameless; but let's keep the facts straight. You can't compare pre-Covid top contracts with top contracts signed during Covid. Or signed today.
I love when Adam and Steve argue/debate like that and Jessie is just quiet for 10 minutes. Like a kid watching his parents argue
Today was a drag at work, everything seemed hard. But each time I hit a wall, I just remembered seeing the Leafs win the Stanley Cup last night, and all was good. Thanks, Jesse!
honestly SDP has gotten me through a lot of bad/meh work days. It's great for that.
i can't believe how good the podcast unison moment was. that was magic fellas

Steve remembered to bring the Cup!
Adam will never remember the apples…
Or donuts
Please stream the SCF deciding games together, even if you don't do the whole series. This is amazing chemistry.
PLEASE
This!!
Steve that Elmo impression was hilarious
Congrats to Jesse Blake and the crab people on their glorious victory 🦀
that elmo impression is INCREDIBLE
Canada's favorite show.
Hey we love it down here in Florida too!

That stream was legit a top 5 moment in my life, goosebumps
I think they should get rid of the net. Put an umpire behind the goalie to call goals and misses. Idk could be the move.
I hear a professional by the name of Hernandez is available, have him do every game.
IT’S SDP TIME BABY!!!
Marner is Steve's new Arizona
ETA: Steve said this lol...I didn't get that far when I originally commented 😂
100% me in the live chat with the Masai Ujesse btw 💪
I was so happy Trouba wasn’t suspended for the elbow, the Panthers really needed his help on defense. Well done Trubs
Don't think Rangers would've won even without Trouba's adventures, but certainly didn't help.
This show should be live on CZcams. With live chat, it would take the podcast to the next level.
i appreciate yall showing out for pride month! great episode!

Steve doesn't need sports to be successful on screen. Sports needs Steve.
Congrats Jesse what an electric moment on stream last night!! All 3 of you on stream really made that moment special!
The leafs stanley cup stream the other day was hilarious
Steve staring at the camera while Jesse read that Mirtle article was hilarious.
It's about time Jessie! Well done! And having Kappy back on the team is peak memes 😂

Is that the popcorn maker? We need it there for the lore.
Jesse finally winning was great, such a fun stream. I love seeing how much fun you guys have. Some people on social media took this way too seriously lol
Reaves - Tavares - Marner 4th line gonna go hard next season
You having Brad Lambert was the highlight for me... LAMBO baby!!!!
That moment will forever live in my brain lol🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀 congrats Jesse 👏👏👏🎉🍻

What does an Arsenal fan do after winning the title?
-Turn off the PlayStation.

Steve as a former Thrashers fan here in GA I would buy that Thrasher’s mini jersey from you
Skipped ahead for Lambert convo and just saw Steve looking like Geordi la forge
He makes the save with 3 second left cut it out Jesse

Carey Price had a cap hit of 6.5 million for most of Bergevin's tenure and he couldn't find a way to win.
Drai at 49 is just insane. Top 5 player in hockey (guaranteed top 10) and he is an absolute steal. Leafs messed this whole thing up.
Brad Treliving's comments on the Marner trade was a fair statement. Trading Marner for nothing is a waste of time.
but I don’t think it is though honestly. Any trade with Mitch involved is a loss and we’ve got to accept that if we do trade him. The biggest value we get back is cap space so hopefully we can sign three big son of a bitches on theback and right handed.

That win was amazing i dont know why but my smile was so big all night :)😊
I cried during the celebration last night
HUGE save from Samsonov, in a HUGE moment. Congrats Jesse!
Now the leafs have 2 cup winners.
Lane and Burbe

You guys are the best!
If the Leafs finish better than team blue from Canadas Ultimate Challenge this year id be surprised
Steve remembered to bring in the cup!!! Never had a doubt. Unlike some others 😂
Stamkos 100% used steroids for his broken leg. Wouldn't be surprised if Sergachev did as well for his leg this past year lol
Music was awesome great celebration guys! Lol

IF HE REFUSES TO WAIVE 👏👏 YOU SIT HIM ALL SEASON 👏👏
don’t forget khudobin was the starter vs vasy in 2020, a little lower salary than the others
I have a bone to pick with your assessment of players supernatural abilities to heal.
