Real Men Real Style Great video. Thank you very much for the time you spent with us.
Jorge - Glad you enjoyed the video.
Real Men Real Style... Sir I agree with u.. And I would like to know how to polish boots or Dress shoes properly so that it looks elegant.. As am a military cadet it would be very helpful for me and I guess many others also , so it would great if u make a video on how polish shoes properly.. Thank u sir.
Real Men Real Style another awesome video Antonio. How about one for hats. My brothers and I have been thinking of buying some. A video on the different styles would be great.
Your jacket looks like it's made from sandpaper
I just want to say how much i appreciate this. I didn’t grow up with any father figures and I’m honestly just trying to change a generational curse that’s been in my family for ever so I’m starting to change everything and I’ve been so stuck on what to wear, how to tie a tie, which hand to wear my watch on. It’s tough. I really appreciate this though.
Be the Father to your kids
I support you on your journey ✨️ you will do even better than you imagined. 💯
Your non-dominant hand
Dad how do i is also a great channel
Same here ❤
My biggest take away from this was learning that "dress boots" still count as casual. I have definitely fell for the idea that they were actually more formal. Great video and extremely helpful
Fallen, not fell.
Lateeee at this point. But something like balmoral boots are somewhere around the middle of formality imo.
Oh man, the storm trooper part is really messin with my head. Great information again, Antonio.
I know, right!
@@RealMenRealStyle I hate suit shoes, Laces look so whack,
I am all about Loafers (P.s Baggy slacks) Not tight slim , Not too baggy neither & it obviously fits my waste correctly
@@RealMenRealStyle I am building my Loafer collection as we speak, Im a young man so I barely started about 3 months ago, I can show you after I have 7 + pairs if your interested
@Miles Doyle im not going to read all that
PRAISE JESUS, THANK YOU JESUS
HALLELUJAH LORD JESUS
@@jesussaveslives512 try lazyman shoes if you hate laces, they look like dress shoes but have elastic gussets and faux laces
I can't stress how helpful your experienced advice is! I was just thinking about formality and different shoe types.
Thank you for your efforts, Antonio!
Ever since I bought a suit recently, I've been watching his vids endlessly lol
Rust Cohle me too. You can always trust a Marine
Stromtroopers wear chelsea boots °_°
Darth Vader You didn't know?!
balagel I think this is palpatine...
Darth Vader it's all the 501st will accept
At least PART of the uniform is comfortable!
I need a book,I want to order a pair of shoes.
Those chelsea boots are intergalactic
Absolutely, they're out of this world.
So many shoes, so little time. I have a thing for wholecuts recently. I didn't know what they were called until this video. I saw a navy shiny pair in a store locally. Fell in love with them.
Excellent list. Thanks !
These videos are just incredible. My older brother (for some reason), always understood fashion. He never had to struggle to meet women. Such a natural. I'm learning this stuff for the first time. The explanations are so clear and memorable. They just remind me of how my brother dressed and how he always tried to drive it into my thick skull to learn these things. Even his tennis shoes were on point, and had a watch and cologne collection going at 20 years old. I'm just having a blast learning here Antonio.....and it's paying off!! Thank you!!
I love shoes. I don't know much about them, so I'm not qualified to call you out on missing this, or missing that. I just know what I like when I see it, and try to dress them appropriately.
This was actually a greatly informative video for me. Thank you much, Antonio!
Thanks for this post Antonio. I am an absolute "shoe guy" and also love single and double monks. I really appreciate your videos on men's style-helps me make important decisions about what to wear so people will perceive me the way I want them to.
First of all huge fan.
Secondly I would ask you to make a video about things that are not most prominent but important like wallet(should I place it in front pocket or back) or using a money clip.
Tie knots.(how to vary length and width of the tie) Shoelaces ( how to tie them if too long) etc.
Great video. Very informative. I’m 48 and wear suits 90% of the time and never stopped to consider the lacing system before. I will be on the look out now!
I'm learning the lessons, that i should of learned from my father, from this gentle man. great video. Thank you.
I find that most people I know take style so casually that wingtips would be considered extremely formal.
JohnNathanShopper Same
It depends where you live and the culture of that place. For example in UK people wear brogues on weddings with formal suits. So it's not taking style casually I think it's about the region and history of that region along with their culture and definition of scale of formality in that region and culture.
Not to show my ignorance too much here, but I actually thought full-brogue wingtips were the most formal shoe, not casual. I thought plain oxfords were exactly that, plain, rather dull and boring looking, not ornate enough, and as such they would be considered more casual. I do now appreciate why that's not really the case, but I still think to some degree wingtips can be, and widely are, considered a formal shoe. Maybe not in high-society, probably not, but they're not the group I hobnob with. In fact, where I live, just wearing shoes at all could be considered formal. ; )
And I'm not sure, but I bet if I asked my 11-year-old nephew which shoe looks more fancy, my black wingtips or plain oxfords, he'd probably say the wingtips, and he'd answer the same if I asked which was more formal, which I should wear to a social gathering.
There are certainly a lot of variations among cultures and regions. I think what impresses me more in terms of formality, is the care given to the shoes. I often notice guys wearing a very nice business suit and tie, but their shoes are scuffed and worn. A good polish along with a mirror shined heel and toe can make all the difference in terms of formality. The mirror shine especially can give a plain oxford an amazingly formal look. So don't think too much about what shoe you're wearing to a formal event, but definitely give it some care before you wear them there!
yeah some people have called my brown suede chelsea boots, and both my black and brown chukkas, formal dress shoes
Opera Pumps/Court shoes are still the most formal footwear you can wear today, only worn with white tie and formal interpretations of black tie. Balmoral boots also deserves a spot since they are worn with full Morning Dress. Although it's nice to see someone like Antonio give new people a good introduction to formal footwear.
I've always thought Opera Pumps were the least masculine shoe a man could wear.
@@paulhopkins1905 Only if you're insecure about your sexuality.
@@heycidskyja4668 Nope, they are factually very feminine shoes.
Awesome Video, Antonio ! This finally brought some light into the different kind of shoes. Also it inspired me to buy so Chelseaboots for the fall. I love your high quality content.
Your outfit today is my favorite color combo. Looks great! Very informative video as well!
I have to say I watched a few guys try to explain how men can get more stylish. You my friend have a gift, everything makes sense and you don't go on tangents. Keep up the good work!
Imho, the point of having a dress boot (balmoral/derby) is so you can still look dressy on snowy or rainy days. When you wear a well made balmoral boots, you will still looks like wearing a normal oxford shoes. Look at most balmoral boots, most of the top part of the upper made of suede so it looks like a sock.
So dress boots are actually on the same level of formality with their low cut sister shoes.
MH J
No they aren't exactly as formal. They are a tiny bit more casual.
They were common back when. My grandfather, a preacher, wore them.
I was literally thinking about this topic a couple of weeks ago. Thanks for making this!
Saving this video for future consultation! I always find it hard to match the right type of shoes with the attire. Thanks for this!
I was just looking for a video which could help me figure out the right style for me and your video popped up!
Thank you!! 😊
Fun fact: the word “brogue” originates from *bróg* (pronounced the same), which means “shoe” in both Irish and Scottish Gaelic.
Tá an ceart agat
The shoe shoe
Such an informative video! I'm actually looking for new dress shoes right now and this video is so helpful.
My late grandfather always have said, that gentlemen (real men at that) always live by the rules.
And I get it! When dressing, he always used to check us to see whether we're in tact & proper bearing. And when he say, "Wear your clothes kiddo!," he means that you wear the right clothes that will match the occasion.
Thank god for you channel I am so tired of all the political, race baiting, zip popping, and tattoo tour videos on CZcams. Some times you just want videos on stylish clothes
I know what you mean - thanks for being here!
It’s gotten slightly better these days but the discourse is still here
I have been wearing suits almost everyday for the past 6 years, till this video I had no idea about types, need to rearrange my closet. Epic video, thanks
Thanks for the video! I always thought that Whole cuts were the most formal, and the only reason Balmorals and Regular oxfords are more formal was only because of ease of availability and affordability.. Definitely learnt something new ! :)
My personal favorite shoes are oxblood double monks and whole cuts. For all formal events i wear black oxfords, but tassel and penny loafers along with a great pair of driving shoes are my jam :D
(I'm not much into boots though)
This was really informative Antonio, Thank you!
I ended up buying the black Medallion oxfords from Ace Marks and I love them! I'm amazed at how surprisingly comfortable they are! I also ended up wearing them when I went to Cincinnati to audition for America's Got Talent.
Interesting to learn more about shoes. Growing up in a blue-collar household, every shoe made of leather other than mocassins, boots and trainers was just called "classic shoe" and considered formal.
While I believe that in today's supercasual world dominated by trainers and running shoes also brogues and Chelsea boots would make the cut as somewhat formal, it was still nice to get more insights on the topic.
Awesome video as always! Thanks for sharing
I was looking for these information and you are the man !
I bought a pair of mid brown suede double monk straps last year and with out a doubt they are the most complimented shoes I own. They look great with jeans or chinos for a casual look.
Thanks for these great shoe style tips. But I wanted to point out something that I learned relatively recently, and that's that your shoe size can actually change as you grow older, often increasing a half-size or more. I had wrongly assumed with a recent order of shoes that there was a manufacturing problem and that the shoes were cut too tight. But what really happened was that I needed to move up a full size because my size had changed, though the width remained the same. Obviously, no matter how fabulous the quality and style of your shoes for the occasion, if they aren't comfortable, they're not going to work out for you. So, as you grow older, I'd recommend actually measuring your shoe size from time to time.
Really enjoyed the video Antonio well done
This video has been really helpful, thank you sir!
Clever Talking Antonio ! Thansk again for the advice !
Great video! Very insightful 🙌
Great video, good explanation. I personally love Van Bommel shoes, they range from formal to more casual. They are really comfortable, too. I am a fan of Brogues myself. I wear size US13/UK12/EU46, so a more formal shoe makes my feet look really big. Or atleast, I think they do, because I'm looking down to a flat surface.
Antonio, love your videos! i have some additional information on shoes for you.
in many southeast asian countries, shoes with rubber sole could still be considered formal. because it rains more frequently here so rubber sole became a very common shoe build. its just practical, and no one will blame you for that.
hope this helps!
Great vid Antonio! Your tips and advice has helped me get better compliments. I look much more professional and trustworthy to my clients and those who trust me. Keep up the good work.
Super! Keep it up.
amazing video! loved it
Great video, even if I know most of those informations about shoes from your previous videos it's nice to have it in one video as a whole. I like examples you put to each type of shoes as there is by my opinion a thin line between what is appropriate and what is not.
My only pair of dress shoes are very formal and I love them thanks for letting me know
GREAT CHANNEL!!!! Very informative!!!
I love the breakdowns and the focus on a classic timeless look, but I wish you provided some visual examples for each.
Antonio, a very good, informative video as always. But the level of formality depends also on the width of the sole, the size of the toebox and the form of the dress shoe, as the more round to be more casual and the more elongated (as all of the shoes of AceMarks you showed us) to be more dressy.
Hey Antonio, Thanks for the video. Like your structured approach to these subjects!
Glad you find it useful un.garçon
Your are an expert when it comes to shoes. excellent
Really enjoyed this one!
Excellent video, very informative!
Good job sir, Antonio
Great video. So much informative.
I love that trivia about Stormtroopers wearing chelsea's.
Antonio, again, great video!
Excellent video!
Very interesting video! Really nice one :)
Great video, Antonio!
Thanks for watching! What's your favorite shoe style?
Fantastic list. Thanks for the affirmation cause i just bought a new pair of Black Cap toe Oxfords …
Definitely helped me out. Had no clue what made a dress shoe formal or casual.
Another great video Antonio
Thanks!
How about a simple dressy ankle boot with a side zipper? I wear my dark brown pair with my suit, can I wear it with a nice pair of jeans? Thanks
Nice video now i know what shoes style i needed
Great video Antonio! Thanks for taking your time in making such a nice ranking! In this case, the casual oxford would be in level 10 also?
Awesome. How shoes goes on from most formal to most casual, types of shoes, which one goes with what.... Amazing. got o learn so much. you nailed it.
great vid antonio!
This is exactly what we needed!
I enjoy rewatching some of these older videos as to their current relevance in 2021.
Another excellent video. I'm a huge Chelsea Boots fan. Even though you didn't specifically mention it (though it is in the Beatles photo you used), they look really good with suits!
Really like your new jacket ^-^
Thank You.... It was a really informative video :)
Great video Antonio! Definitely looking at the Acemarks double monk strap for my next shoe. Would you say they’re sized similarly to an Allen Edmonds Strand 11D?
great video. i work from home and i've mostly worn sneakers my whole life, i'm trying to upgrade here and i got some nice dress shoes without understanding what they were. good to know.
Impeccable selection Antinio. 👍
Well explained. Thank you.
learned a lot, thanks.
I bought a pair of pretty rubber soled dress boots for the winter. I suppose any rubber soled shoe would have provided more traction in the ice, but boots don't look silly with a bit of tred on the bottom. Could there be an exception for dress boots in a suit during times of inclement weather like snow?
Very informative. Thank you.
Amazing video!!!
Very informative video..really liked it
Very informative. Thanks for sharing.
Very useful!
Question Antonio. If I own a full brouge wingtip oxford in black, would it be wise of me to bypass purchasing a derby or blucher? These Allen Edmonds are a step down from my clean cap toe black oxfords.
Your thoughts please...
ONCE AGAIN GREAT PTS
Amazing video.
Great content Antonio , you are a legend .
:)
Thank you very much! Very helpful!
I am only 18 but take advice from you like from a life coach!
Awesome video as always, Antonio :)
Thanks Bee Boy! Do you agree with the list?
Great video. Very informative. Thanks Sincerely 6 year Army vet and Southern Gentleman. 👍
Useful video thank you :-)
Very helpful video thumbs up.
Hi RMRS. Great advices! Just want to ask, I am eyeing for a pair of oxford shoes with blue suede top (base london or hush puppies brand/style). Can I wear it both with formal/suits attire and casual jeans?
Good morning sir! I love the video. It has really helped me to identify which shoes I want for certain occasion's. However, as you're asking for a different opinion I'd like to add mine. I wanna put the dress boots and the number 6 spot instead of the Chelsea's. I think that the dress boot as a way of commanding attention when wearing it a suit but nuts to a very formal setting. For example in a simple business setting. A good way to show off without looking obnoxious.
Good primer. I'll need to rethink my old rule of thumb. The more they hurt, the more formal they are!
Thank you Antonio your the man !
Thanks and very informative. I was looking at a pair of shoes that is not in any of these categories and not sure what they are called. They are like a derby but has a square piece over the top front.
Thanks Antonio for another great video. I love monk shoes but always have trouble with finding some that fit, because I have an high instep.
I've tried several brands but still the same problem. Other shoes and boots are ok, except for certain brands of Chelsea boots. David, 😎🌞🇬🇧
Very informative n helpful video
