    About All In The Family:
One of the most acclaimed comedy series of all time, All in the Family with Archie Bunker as the irascible, highly opinionated, working-class family man who viewed the world on his terms and his terms only. When not arguing with his liberal son-in-law, "Meathead," Archie took refuge in his long-suffering wife, Edith, who tries her best to understand Archie's conservative ways and outdated beliefs.

LOL i thought it was going to come out that when mike was out at night, Gloria's friend was in a drawer. but I don't think they would have even intimated that back then, even in the context o this show.

Kudos to either for stepping in because I surely did not like the breakup Mike was so wrong to say he hated the first 5 years of their marriage. So you basically hit below the belt Mr stivic if it was not for her parents money you would not have graduated dearie. sad she cheated is not the way but to all find out in the end you basically used her, used her parents your marriage and then leave do not blame Gloria for taking yall son and leaving Edith help bought you some time to get it together but we all know how that went. "What a User.

Same here my parents were hippies and stayed married till my mom died so not everyone from that era had a bad marriage. They were married 29 years. He's been married to his second wife almost 20 years. Of course my dad was super liberal on politics but very traditional on morals of marriage and commitment even when it went against the times.

Without All in the Family, there might not have been a Married with Children. Prior to this, you had Ozzie and Harriet, Father Knows Best, Leave it to Beaver, Bewitched . . . innocuous programs that did not acknowledge what was happening in the world outside the film studio. Producer Norman Lear grabbed the audience by the lapels and loaded up the episodes with current events: Watergate, Gay Rights, Women’s Liberation, the Sexual Revolution, Racism, the Vietnam War (US involvement continued until 1975) . . . Plus, adding sound effects like a toilet flushing - it had never been done. If the humour falls flat for you, well, it falls flat. But the outrageous humour on TV began with these four characters.
