The Meyers family should be a standard for all parents. And that only comes when both parents are equally involved in the everyday raising of their children, with love and humor and discipline. And Seth Meyers has obviously continued his parents' tradition. Bravo!

My kid for some reason cannot say grandma. She can say grandpa but not grandma. So what does she end up calling my mom? Against every single attempt from my mom otherwise, my sassy little girl calls her “dumas” “dah mahs” or sometimes “doooo mahs”

So when I was a kid, I wasn't exactly afraid of the dark. I was afraid of the creatures lurking around at night, regardless of light or darkness and my strategy was to have no light at all, hopefully to make it more difficult for the creatures to find me. I'm 27 and I still turn off and/or cover up any sources of light in a room I'm sleeping in!

Canoga Parque 818 you’re right, and I think many people find families relatable. This family tells stories that show why Seth Meyers is the person he is today, and they are down-to-earth people who seem like they’d be fun to be around. Celebrities can be annoying interviewees because their stories can seem so canned and inauthentic, but the stories this family tells are naturally entertaining, interesting, and relatable.
Late Night with Seth Meyers has the best cast of characters in all late night. From Amber and Jenny to Seth’s family and even the funny blonde later behind him at “press briefings”

When I was an infant (I was the first grandchild in my family), I began calling my maternal grandparents the “PP’s.” The whole family still refers to them as Grandma and Papa PP 23 years later😂

"Mormor" literally translates to "Mother's mother". "Farmor" is the word you want :D
I came looking for this!
His wife's mother would be "Mormor" (mother's mother) and she (Seth's mom) would be "Farmor" (father's mother) if they wanted to be Swedish/Norwegian/Danish(?) about it.
Also, for anyone interested- Seth's father would be Farfar (father's father) and his FiL would be Morfar (mother's father) if they used the whole system.
I’m from a small and close family. People usually seem weirded out that at 30, my brother and I live close to our parents and visit often. We LIKE holidays and hanging out. I used to have a specific day my mother would visit and stay all day and night and we’d hang out. We never run out of stuff to talk about; I’m like her younger clone. We’re both chronically ill and moving has led to having few friends. Being ill and not able to get out much has meant we all rely on each other more.
I get that I’m really friggin lucky and a lot of people have been hurt (in many different ways) by their parents and or general family. But there’s a tendency for people to act like it’s so WEIRD, somewhere between some vague incest and basement-dwelling losers, or some controlling fundamentalist situation. And I also get scorning the idea if that’s not been your life, thinking it’s not as good as friends being chosen family, or that it’s just not cool or dorky.
So it’s really nice to see examples in media of families that at least seem to really enjoy being around each other. Other than my family, I don’t have any current contacts that have known me for a significant period of time to have a deep bind of trust and a lot of memories to enjoy. It’s cool to see people enjoy those bonds, whether they’re will really old friends or not, but especially when it’s family it makes me feel better. It’s not a weird aberration fluke to be close and it’s kind of comforting to see examples of that.
Amara Jordan I’m sorry to hear about your illness and I hope your health improves. My family is very close and we love spending time together.
Watching this family together makes it plainly apparent how Seth came to be a very funny, relaxed and composed man. You are lucky to have family that cares about each other, enjoys each other’s company and isn’t fractured by any differences, competitiveness or resentment. Life’s true riches ♥️

When my mother’s health improves, we’re planning on moving, and we’ll go to a state that has better specialists for people with my condition, who actually know what to do to improve my quality of life and not just keep me alive but holed up in an apartment roughly 6.5 days out of a week. Until then, my family’s going to help me get through it, just like they always have! 😊 I’m really glad you have a family that’s close; I know so many people don’t have it, and I can’t really imagine what it’s like. I hope you make many more good memories with them. Thanks for your kindness today. 🌷
Sascha Rouillon I honestly really am. The more I found out about other families growing up, the more I realized how unusual it is to be in my situation. I think if my mother and I weren’t sick, we’d probably have all branched off. But we all circled the wagons to help each other get through things, and ANY time one of us needs something, we know that bond will see us through and we’ll have support. My brother’s catch phrase would probably be, “What can i do to help?” When I’m down about being sick and kind of... stuck with my illness until one day it kills me, I take a good hard look at my support system. It’s extremely small, yes, but solid through and through. That more than evens things out, luckwise, I think. Thanks for reading my comment and feeling like replying. I hope you have a wonderful holiday season with whoever is special to you, or doing something that fulfills you. 🌷
Amara Jordan : Having multiple autoimmune diseases that require medication for the rest of my life (or until science can replace my immune system with nanobots and regrow damaged organs), I can empathize with your health difficulties. I've also always been the weirdo whose family actually stuck together when things got hard, and who still speak civilly to each other (usually-no family's perfect). They definitely have their flaws, but overall I know I'm very lucky.

My grandparents have been Boppie and Momo for 25 years hahahah. Grandpa and Grandma respectively. My other grandparents passed before I could met them and it’s always been weird to say grandma and grandpa.
