As Hong Kong is small, but you can't imagine it's such a fabulous city merge with Western and Chinese culture. When everytime i take jet plane and looking down this city, i tell myself, This is my homeland. It just such a small piece of island, but still, i call here "My homeland." As a Hongkonger, i won't forget British let us to face the world and made our homeland a better place. (Sorry for my poor english))
really want to go see hong kong one day looks like a great place reminds me of the islands in croatia the British had control over one island for 30 years during the war with napoleon built roads and a fort call fort george too bad they didnt stay if they did the island today would have more than the 4000 population plus an airport high rise buildings like in hong kong and gibraltar
Awesome video!!! Thanks and proud of living here! People usually only discover the cityscape of this amazing metropolis, but the surrounding countryside's also worth exploring! We city dwellers also enjoy some tranquil weekend mornings there. So if any one of you're planning a trip to Hong Kong, try to spare half a day for a route on the hiking trails with the spectacular scenery!
IMHO this is the best HK landing video on YT. I was stationed in HK from 1976-1978 and had a week there Nov 2014. The view looking up toward the old Kai Tak airport is fantastic, I remember landing that way once, up the Lei Mun Gap if I remember it right. The video also shows just how build up it is now. Thanks for upload.
that feeling when you see kai tak in the distance at 6:17, ive lived in hong kong 11 years and even watching a video reminds me of how much of a beautiful place it is
Good video, clear sky, blue sea, green land, tall buildings. Cheers! I love sunny clear sky day without air pollution (from mainland China). Thank you!
wowww this is a marvelous view of Hong Kong, I never have this clear view arrival to Hong Kong and now days, the plane is all approach and landing from the west, so therefore you don't see anything at all. thanks for this wonderful overview of Hong Kong. Absoultely love it!!
Nice to see the place where Kai Tak used to be. A little sad though to see they didn't keep the old airport as it was but I understand real estate is rare and expensive in HK.
If you can name all the areas starting from Lamma Island in the begining, all the ways through Stanley, Junk Bay, Shatin, Shing Mun, Kwai Chung, Tsing Yi, Lantau till Chap Lap Kok, you must be a dedicated Hong Kongers like me.
Didn't know that those brake spoilers can deployed at their maximum while flying fast. Thought that when used that they maybe stand up max 50% comparing when they are deployed when the plane is landing. As that plane goes like 500k+ km/u in the air, those spoilers looking like a sheet of metak can withstand so much force and their hydraulic. And it still amazes me how big and far strait down the flaps of the 777 and 747 can go. Wings are so complex, when withdrawn where are they stored and big fuel tanks inside wings. The 787 has very flexible wings when heavy and climbing fast the wingtips are many meters higher. But the huge flaps look sometimes so fragile when landing hard they shattering like crazy, that they don't get metal fatigue. How fast need a 777 land if there is a defect and flaps can't deploy, if they land in the flare the angle of attack is already huge comparing with other planes.
This is the most perfect "landing HK airport" video I have ever seen. Thanks very very much for sharing it. The entire HK is exposed in this birdview video.
It's not that dangerous anymore...you may be thinking of the infamous runway 13 landing at the old Hong Kong airport (Kai Tak). That airport has been closed for 18 years
Both a blessing and a curse. Hong Kong is so hilly. At the same time makes it both so beautiful and land scarce even though in ground area, Hong Kong is 40% bigger than Singapore!
Ok, for you aircraft experts a question. At 11:22 during the landing you have 4 raised flaps. One is not as elevated as the other 3. Is that a fault of the flap or is it programmed to be that way? BTW...best approach and landing view of Hong Kong I have seen.

Your English is good
As part of its native China, Hong Kong has become even better. It is flourishing even more effectively than before.
Awesome video!!! Thanks and proud of living here!

Spectacular ! Great camera work, sober and sensible. Thank you for not zooming, good judgement. What a ride !
Anyone else can't wait to have the same feeling again landing at this city, and to see your family at the arrivals gate? I just can't stop grinning!
Brilliant video, reminded me when I went to Hong Kong. Thanks for sharing. :-)
Landed at HKIA two years ago. It was morning 6:30 or so, the best landing view of the skyline with sunrise. This video brings back memories!!!

Very nice tour of the city. Thanks...
Awesome vid
Wow what an epic panorama of HK and such clear weather as well. HK island looks small from the air. ICC skyscraper dominates the skyline on Kowloon.
Amazing video! :)
Best landing on video!
Approaches don't get much more awesome than that, IMO. :)
That was worth the time. I thank you,
Beautiful view👍
Amazing view of Hong Kong during this landing.
Nice view of Hong Kong and Kowloon Bay.
Great video. Rare to be so clear
Nice to see the place where Kai Tak used to be. A little sad though to see they didn't keep the old airport as it was but I understand real estate is rare and expensive in HK.

very nice view of H.K.
just fascinated by those flaps. whoever thought of that just a true aviation genius
One of the best landing video of Hong Kong. Good length video clearly showing most part of HK, Kowloon and parts of New Territories...
In the 24 years I've lived in Hong Kong, I don't think I've ever landed once during the daytime.
+pinzazzzz Me neither! I wonder why?
Great city
Once upon a time
Both a blessing and a curse. Hong Kong is so hilly. At the same time makes it both so beautiful and land scarce even though in ground area, Hong Kong is 40% bigger than Singapore!
Nice to see what I will be doing November. Will be my first Asian trip!
