      Well I hadn't seen this since 1973, but still remembered Barry Davies's "It's a sweet turn, and a fine goal!". Think it might have been overdubbed after the game though....

    Derby's third goal was world class.

    Given his fantastic success with both Derby and Forest, I still wonder how on earth Brian Clough never won the FA Cup with either team! And for the benefit of ‘younger viewers’, that was a time when to win he FA Cup really meant something, and there was none of the modern day approach whereby teams put out ‘weaker’ teams for some rounds.

    I was at this game. 14 years of age. Not a happy night for me as a Spurs supporter but what a great game.

    I was just recalling one of the best games I ever went to and was amazed at finding this footage. As a Derby fan it was an incredible evening - unbelieveable. The Spurs side had so many great names in it and the atmosphere was tremendous. Great game, great result.

    I saw Roger Davies play for Worcester City in a pre-season friendly "1971" v Leicester City and it was a 1:1 draw!

    Roger Davies - what a legend! Bridgnorth to Worcester City .... where he was obviously not going to stay once he settled in to his rythym. Was gutted when he left for Derby but always enjoyed watching him thereafter

      Yep, would have been European champions if Clough had stayed. Instead that lot down the A52 later on reaped the reward.

      @@lennylaa1686The real villain apparently was director Clarke who had a real problem with both Clough and Taylor, things came to a head in the players lounge at Old Trafford( after we had just beat Utd 1-0 ) Clarke had crooked his finger at Taylor and questioned his role at the club. Taylor was livid and the following Monday they both quit.

    Speaking as a long standing Spurs (suffering)fan..Now even though they managed to shoot themselves in the Ass&lose this game to Derby,at least the quality of football was superb👍..
    And here's a(Q) for both Spurs and Derby fans..
    .How would today's version(Line up's) fair against both of those teams?
    Because from my perspective,today's outfit wouldn't stand an chance,they w/b given a Major hiding!..
    And if I'm aloud the liberty of commenting about Derby,I would imagine the same could be said about them!

    • @growlerthe2nd712
      @growlerthe2nd712 Před 9 měsíci +1

      I think todays teams would struggle with the pitches of that era , but I think the players of that era would have been red carded more because it was more physical then ⚽️

      @@growlerthe2nd712 Well that would have had to adapt it's true or as said be RC'd..But I think the point is players from back in the day could have easily have played today's game ( with their eyes closed) but today's players couldn't have coped with the football back then!
