The 2022 Toyota Hilux GR-Sport is the latest top-spec model of the Toyota Hilux in the Philippines. It has received the Gazoo racing bits and pieces to make it sportier and handle better. In this Filipino car review, we take a tour of the 2022 Toyota Hilux GRS, and see if it is better than the 2022 Toyota Hilux Conquest 4x4. The 2022 Toyota Hilux GRSport is the lowest tier of development for Gazoo Racing, since it is mostly just aesthetic improvements. The 2022 Toyota Hilux GR-Sport joins the Toyota Fortuner GR-Sport, and the Toyota Vios GR-Sport in the line up of regular Toyotas with the GR-Sport treatment. The Avanza GR-Sport will likely join this team soon enough. This Hilux GRS was one of our choices when buying a 4x4 truck. We went with the Navara Pro-4x instead. Just a few points why we went with the Pro-4x, riding comfort of course, nissan intelligent mobility which includes automatic emergency braking, blind spot alert, lane departure warning, rear cross traffic alert, and a better 360 camera in my opinion. Rear air vents, factory roof rails, 7 inch digital gauge cluster, 5yrs/150k km warranty, 7-speed AT, all-terrain tires, and still cheaper by 250k pesos. What I wish my Navara had, which the hilux has, is the black headliner and rear grab handles only i guess. Both are good looking, reliable, but parts are slightly cheaper for hilux. Loving my Navara even more since I don’t know why the Hilux is much expensive yet short on features, specially on the driver assists.

Would you recommend the Hilux GR Sport 4x4 or the Revo Conquest 4x4 or the new D-Max Vcross 4x4?

The GR-Sport only gets aesthetic upgrades, save for the monotube dampers. The Revo Conquest 4x4 seems to be the better deal. We have no experience yet on the Dmax Vcross here

Why does the model J 4x2 have less power than the rest of the line up when it has the same power plant.
Well, Hilux has a problem. It's called "Wildtrack 2.0 BiTurbo". Ford Ranger has become a thorn in Hilux's ass up until now. And the upcoming Ranger 2023 will be even better, sad to say Toyota Hilux has always been chasing up the competion.

If your planning to drive this beast as it is, this is a very good choice,but if your planning to upgrade for offroading,overlanding camping I'd say get the conquest for more open upgrading/

TAKE NOTE: The HiLux GR-S has no Toyota Safety Sense driver assist features. Only Original, just like the HiLux V Conquest.

@@gutadin5 Nope, the upcoming 9th gen 2023 Toyota Hilux will get Toyota Safety Sense suite as standard on higher variants. The 9th gen Hilux will be launched in Thailand by 2nd quarter of 2023.

Ford V6 worth being called top spec. Hilux still wanting. If they bring the LC300 engine with V6 to Hilux and update it’s electric nature then it will likely be top spec to me. For now, Ford V6 coming in 2023 would be best.
