Hey fellas, along with your dislike of the word genisues, I also hate the words "child prodigy" you effectily means, genius but hasnt done anything of note yet, which I think hurts alot of kinds, since its had a underlying assumption you will acheive your full potential. I wish there was a study done looking at the out comes of kids who were classified as "child progidy" in all fields, maths ,sports, music etc.
Also I think genius is measured as the weighted average of natural intellegence and overall work ethic(these two traits are independent of each other), and whom we call genius is in the top percent.

I actually appreciated learning calculus with Riemann sums. But I do agree, sometimes the language can be so technical, it's hard to get the full picture of what's going on with certain things without reading a chapter several times and investing a ton of time.

I did too so the analogy was slightly disingenuous 😅 but my point was that mathematicians sometimes have a tendency to explain backwards. Using higher level concepts to explain lower level ones to newbies. Pretty much never a useful approach imo

@@Eigenbros Yeah, I can definitely feel you on that, man. Some of those formal definitions you see throughout all of calculus just make it so difficult to grasp something that probably doesn't need to be that complicated. Instead of stifling you with some rigorous, esoteric definition, they should try to begin with intuition first and then throw in the rigor later once you actually get it. I always had to cross reference textbooks (sometimes 3 or more textbooks haha) to understand what the hell is going on. I often found myself going through a lot of the sections up to 3 or 4 times because of exactly what you said. And I think it turns a lot of people off to math in general.

@@Eigenbros BTW, your analogy of learning physics being much more like learning an instrument just totally nailed it for me. I'm literally going to restart physics today from the ground up. haha (I'm in University Physics II so that's no light task but I think it'll be worth it. Cheers, man! I really love how down to earth you dudes are. I've become a big fan.

I think coding is also very much like learning an instrument as well in the sense that you must practice yourself it cant be verbally taught (you cant teach french speaking only english feel me).
Its about putting it into action.
People like Victor Wooten say music is a language.
    Well so are programming languages...
    and so is physics.

1:05:00 They are called DTP books, Definition Theorem Proof books. They are impossible 😅
