      I have the same problem. If the dress is longer than I prefer I can take off a couple of inches from the hem and then use this matching material to expand the sides of the bodice. If the dress has sleeves then you will need to make a shorter triangle insert in the sleeve where it connects to the bodice.

My sewing hobby has become my label Lavoie Boho if anyone wants to see the finished product. Merci beaucoup! I am glad this worked out so well for you! I also feel rather stupid since I got an older dress from a shop recently that fit perfectly everywhere but the bust and decided to change the zipper seams instead of the side seams. It just barely worked since it was a hidden zipper before with a wider seam allowance, but changing the side seams definitely would‘ve been easier. I will certainly use your method in the future 😂

  • @craftchild_9151

    The black layer inbetween could be vlies fabric. I can t really see it well but thats fabric that you press on to the left side of the fabric to make it a bit stiffer and stronger so it would probably be that, just cut through it and it shouldnt come off completely.

    This is exactly the idea I had in my brain for upsizing a vintage jacket I got that's just a little too small. I dont Want to lose the overall shape of the jacket , I dont Want to change the back because it looks awesome as is. Inserting fabric under the arms should be easy enough and not loose the shape or damage the jacket it all

    • @jennyw4629
      @jennyw4629  Před 4 lety +1

      I think you might need to take out (half of) the zipper, insert fabric (since mesh can not hold zipper well), then sew the zipper on the new fabric. I'm just imagining this, not sure if it can be implemented. I hope if anyone read this can also share their ideas, thank you!🙏😊
