- I want to share with you my cheap and easy quarantine fish tank setup. These are some of the ways I like to medicate new guppy fish in the aquarium. New fish need to be quarantined and possibly medicated to treat for bacterias and infection the fish might have from the store.
LOVE the use of a 5 gallon bucket!

Next time you suggest salt you may want to mention scale-less fish (catfish) can not handel salt.
It says it on aquarium salt packaging.
Great video! Thanks for the info! I always qt, I have a 10 gallon tank I pull out and set up, and I remove a sponge filter that’s cycled out of another tank, never thought that I really don’t need that because of doing daily water changes!

I am fairly new to fish keeping and getting more and more into it. After buying a couple fish, I learned that you have to cycle the aquarium first. Well, I don't feel comfortable doing "fish-in" cycling. So would a bucket (with daily water changes) be good until my tank is fully cycled?
Did you add salt together with the General Cure/ Erythromycin/Ich-X after the 1st 2 rounds of 48-hour salt?
No heater needed?
Does this work with fancy goldfish?
How much salt per gallon for the salt does?
What about temperature ? Do we need a heater ?
Can I do this with African Cichlids?
I'm going to disagree with you a little bit. I am a veterinarian and using a lower and safer dosage of medication for a longer time is preferable to a higher dose that may be at a toxic level, this holds true for all the antibiotics and antiparasitic meds that you mentioned. Great video, though, I came here to learn about quarantine procedures and I did learn.

I got a shipment of erythromicron with some Nerite snails.
My understanding is that snails can carry parasites and disease,but don’t tolerate salt.
Any suggestions?
Nice video! Newbies here and thinking about using a bucket too. Questions though... do you feed your fish in the bucket or fast them for a couple of days? What do you treat the bucket water with (other than meds) prime and stress coat?
If it is an emergency and you do not have a clean cycled tank to use, Yes I would use a bucket with Prime, stress coat and a pinch of salt depending what species it is. I consider a bucket to be a short term home especially when medicating.
What dechlorinator do you use with the water changes? I typically use Prime but I heard it cant be used with Ich-X?

Hi. New in this hobby. I like guppies. They look really nice and lots of different colours. I bought 12 guppies nearly 4 weeks ago. I didn't quarantine my guppies. After 1week my 1 guppy die after 24 hours second guppy and another 24 hours third. They keep dieing. Few days ago I noticed white stringy poo in 2 guppies so I went to same pet shop from where I bought my fish. They advised to use GILL AND BODY FLUKE medicine. I done 2 doses. Yesterday I saw my 1 my fish looks really skinny. Again went to shop They said looks like your fish got same disease ( like cancer) that fish die this evening. I got 3 fish. If its possible can you send list of medicines which you had use for you fish.
Can you tell me where to buy a good grade Levamazole?

Okay, but I have a question, for example, I buy 20 fish and put it in a quarantine aquarium, and out of 20 fish, one is sick, will it infect other fish and can other fish be killed because of one sick fish?

How much salt are you using per gallon?
It really depends on the situation and what kind of fish it is. I would have to say salt can be very helpful with the right kind of fish. I tend to use it the most with guppies and bettas.
