  • From 2003 Fifth Estate host Hana Gartner with a rare glimpse inside the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and an exclusive interview with one of its most prominent citizens Winston Blackmore.
Over the years there have been occasional news reports about a mysterious and secretive religious community in Bountiful, B.C. The Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints - no relation to the mainstream Mormons believe that not only does God condone polygamy, but the Canadian Charter of Rights does, too.

Girls from Bountiful were, and probably still are, being taken to Utah to marry men there in order to provide a larger gene pool. Too much interbreeding can cause birth defects and mentally challenged infants. These females have been indoctrinated since birth to worship males. I don't have a problem with marriage between two consenting adults, adults being the operative word.

The question might also be put: what is an 'adult'? Nowhere is that defined except by age. And what is 'consent'? These women are brainwashed and oppressed. To my mind, they are not exercising free will and could be considered to be suffering from a mental defect because they lack the capacity to think for themselves.

This is just a vicious lie these men are telling themselves to justify marrying a young wife: "It not like I want to have a young wife, its just that only young wives are available, but why is it that? Can it be because we don't give any girl the time to grow up and decided who to marry and when? Can it be because these girl don't really have any power in whether they can turn down a marriage? Can it be because as soon as a girl is 14 we are already looking at her like a cow in heat and want to get her "serviced" as soon as possible so there's no way any girl can make it pass 16, 17, 18 without already being married off? Who knows. All I know is, there are only young girls left there wasn't already married off, so its not me being a sick pedophile. "

A serious case can be made for the claim that these groups are the true followers of Joseph Smith and Brigham Young. Their churches bear far more resemblance to the early LDS church than the modern LDS does.

However, these people have twisted that belief into a deep dark unrecognizable cult. They pick out bits and pieces of our mainstream teaching and inject sick ideas that pollute and justify abuse of women and children. My Great Grandfather had two wives and they were both well educated and functioned well as a family. I do not say I would like to live it today, but what the mormons taught and these people indoctrinate are NOT the same thing. Theirs is a counterfeit image, a false version. They are sick in the head. God deliver those women and children and open the eyes of those men to the tears of their families.

What about taking away rights and freedoms from Christian and Believing men? It is right to remove and take away freedom of religion just because people hate a certain practice inside that religion or ''religion''?
      Why being so hateful?
You know most, or every, country have laws to be kept, so why do you think countries have laws?

To make sure that if they break the law that they will get punished for their crime?

They should be allowed to practice what they want to practice AS LONG AS children are not involved. A 15 year old is a child. A 57 year old man with a 13 year old can not go unnoticed. Them not having a choice to continue their education, that's oppression and a problem. At least Jane is educated and Winston sends his wives to get educated but still, it's a problem.
So proud of Jane. I feel she any has one child as . I hope she and her daughter are doing well.

As a Christian, it’s sad to see how a person can manipulate and change the truth just to get away with what he wants to do.
In the Bible it says the only way to know we know God and Jesus, is that we love people like Jesus loved us, and this man is clearly filled with hate...

Just wondering because I read the national news in the US daily, and the Christians there are not representin’ very well🤷‍♀️

“How to become a god.” I am not the most pious of people, but I know blasphemy when I hear it. They can go ahead and be blasphemous in our free society, but we shouldn’t allow them to marry 14- and 15-year old girls off to the cronies of these damned “prophets.”
