      Well, what are they supposed to do when he dodges the questions all the time. Sure you could let him keep talking forever, but when you notice that he isn't even about to actually answer the question and just keeps talking in buzz words, you could just stop him there as well.
      All he want's is to waste as much time as possible so that they can ask him less questions

      He rephrased it later that - why don't amazon take the responsibility of selling stolen goods.
      Yes, they have policies to restrict it as much as possible but at the end of the day if stolen goods are being sold on Amazon.
      Amazon do not take any responsibility even though they earn their margin on it. It all falls on to the seller and customer.

His employees are more like brainwashed cult members and conditions for he lower employees are still atrocious. Suicide attempts and threats are a common occurrence at the local fulfillment center in my town. His company is associated with cheap and easy, at the cost of humanity. A Walmart model brought to its apex. The last thing a company should do, is create a customer base of vapid and voracious aspiring emperors who will greet any slight deviation of service with a rage that would make a 19th century Russian czar cringe. There is no heart in Amazon and it will never have the branding that companies that have survived the test of time have enjoyed.
      But, enjoy your fast and “safe” in garage delivery.

The government and the police are trained the same way to make you say something you are not guilty of. The questions are one sided and don't allow the one being questioned to explain oneself, especially if the questions come from people who don't own and run businesses.       And when you're taking decisions at this scale, it's often impossible to satisfy everyone. In that case the decisions need to have a balance for the holistic good. To understand why such decisions were taken you need domain expertise and skills.

Plus they're on a time limit. Bezos is smart and tried to move on with his plan which is extending his answer. That's the reason they cut him off because there are several questions to be asked/answered. Another example is epstein. Look how they ask him questions and see how uncomfortable he gets and tries to "not understand" certain questions. And see how he plead certain amendments to protect himself from saying the wrong things because he knows he will get caught...

    I watched the whole thing. They interrupted constantly because they had really tight timeslots to ask questions which were really just scripted soundbites which they wanted to read out on national TV and score points. They didn't care about the actual answers, so they rush through that part.
    This is the most exposure these representatives will likely ever get so they want to make the most of it.

      Also, google is killing most travel small businesses and is serving their own products to the searchers.
      Amazon helps a lot of people but if a product does well, then amazon creates their own product and compete with them on THEIR platform.

    Before the big box stores and before Amazon came along customers had tight limits on the length of time they could shop, everybody closed at 6:00 p.m. , you could barely get there after work, then wait till Saturday. You could not make any returns, and sometimes you would lose out being stuck with an expensive item. I also don't recall any of them helping their competitors.

    For the people wondering why they’re cutting him off: because he’s lying. Amazon needs to grow or it will collapse (those who know how the company is structured know why this is so). Either collapse to the point or just a marketplace as Jeff said the 30 year period, or continue entering new industries by undercutting and keeping necessary pillars there eg. Logistics and pricing. So he talks about what is true customers etc but will not and cannot talk about competing with its own customers which 100% does or unfair practices against other companies. There’s an inherent conflict between the congress and investors, and you guys expect him to be honest lol. Cool guy but lying and they know
