Anyone else feels these US documentaries feel like the same stuff we got n the late 90's?
yeah right
It does have a bit of a 90's vibe 😂
Now that's the marker where an innovation can be unfold!
i think all of tv docs are in the same boat... they are getting boring following a cookie cutter aproach to production
the low resolution doesnt improve things either
This doc was released in 2015, yet it feels like it was released in the 90s.
Per k
maybe the camera was bought in the 90s!
You're dumb. The video was uploaded in 2015, but the documentary itself is from the early 2000s.

Amazon Web Services has been the latest and arguably largest jewel in the companies capital asset crown. The low cost of hardware components, i.e. transistors, correlated with the growing ubiquity of smart devices has been their smartest business move so far.
Well done to him. He saw an opportunity and worked hard while taking risks to achieve his goals.
While avoiding taxes and buying out or underpricing competition.

let's make amazon in a physical store
I explain:
every store in the world is 1.0
in this store, products almost never change
and the owner chose the products
it is boring
now, there must be a new store 2.0
in this store, products always change
and people choose the products there will be via an app
on the app, there is a huge catalog, people choose the products that will show up in the store
the store is constantly being supplied with the products people choose

One thing I admire is that he kept his profit low, his strategy is what put him where he is

Amazon does what the consumer wants and takes the hit for it and gains in the long run. They changed the way companies interact with people and any company that won't change will lose.

Investing the first 300k in a company is extremely risky. I wonder how much the net worth of his parents was at this time.
he said somewhere else it was pretty much their life savings.
Meaning that unlike what many think he didn't come from rich family. 2 people having combined life savings of 300k in their 50s or something is above median sure, but definetlynot rich.
they did have a unusual seemingly absurd altough as it turns out well placed ammountof trust in their son.
This short documentary did not mention one key factor that hugely contributed to Amazon's success. Amazon's affiliate program, with it Amazon was able to put itself in front of millions of customers without spending a dime on advertising. Sure they paid commissions but after a sale was made, which was way better than paying up in front for ads and not knowing how many sales ads would generate. Brilliant if you ask me.
And now he's the richest man in the world. From position 30 to 1. From a net worth of $18B to $155B!
I remember a time aournd 2005 I could order a book with shipping for dirt cheap. Now when I look at the shipping cost I almost always hit the cancel order at amazon.
Daniel Filippus prime baby!
That’s how they are profiting millions now.
Successful companies are ran by CEOs that know their business so well they could cover for anyone’s job in the company.

Can’t help to notice the amazing similarities between the early days of the Amazon and current day Tesla.
Yep. Super boom now with Tesla and just like Amazon, there will be a bust. That will be the time to get into the stock.
Can someone zap me back to my birth with $1000 to put in Amazon shares?
Are the interviewers forcing their subjects to cross their arms during the introductions? It seems so unnatural.
true it reminds us of the soccer players in the english premier league when the team line up is shown!!

No mention of AWS, 🤔
I know I was definitely one of his first customers. When I was in college, I bought my textbooks and other assigned books from Amazon. Moreover, when I started teaching, I still bought my books from Amazon.
No one care darling. You are nothing.
@@arrongoldberg697 It’s pretty cool actually
Gail Becker, I was also the first customer too, bought my books there. 😉
Amazon's so rich coz they raised their minimum free shipping order from $25 to $35 to $50.
You'd have to live under a rock to think Amazon has ever turned a profit on shipping.

Notice one thing in common with microsft and amazon how they got started?
A few $100,000s...back in the 90's which is worth more today.
Not demeaning that gates and bezos don't deserve their massive success (they also worked very hard) but the difference between them and other entrepreneurs that you have never heard of is that they didn't get that initial critical capital. Many other people even before them started PC companies/internet sales....except they didn't have the cash to explode.
I used to spent my hours in library during my school days. I am going alone every time that my friends doesn't know it. I am also reading all the Encyclopedia books in our home while my parents busy on their own business.

Not one mention of AWS. The guy invented cloud computing for God's sake. Cloud will be bigger than everything else
Not invented. A lot of its success happened organically. Amazon kept growing and there came a time that he saw the need to host its own servers and well the rest is history. For instance, if you start selling books and then realize that you need to in fact buy a warehouse to store those books and the need keeps growing, then you get that "aha moment" when you realize smaller "mom pops shops" needs a facility to store their product and you rent out a portion of your huge warehouse. It happened organically and much of Amazons success is due to AWS.
I was also puzzled by the fact that AWS and cloud computing was not even mentioned.
Mad energy in his eyes

It's 113 billion with a quick Google search keep in mind though his net worth is just a guess the Forbes list on all billionaires are just taking public information on stocks and other information so for all we know he could be worth 80 billion or 170 billion these are just best guesses.

It's me or he went to one of the few business news network buying something to re-sell to his shareholders and other investors?
Amazon is a cult. I live in Seattle and he has taken over swaths of land, gentrified the city and smaller towns, raised home prices, raised traffic levels and, has done nothing for our increasing homeless population. He does not have any charitable operations in place unless, he see's some sort of benefit. He does not pay pickers or delivery drivers, as much as they deserve. And now he is using third party stressed out drivers, that are to deliver pkgs in ONE day, that way he doesn't have to pay auto insurance or medical benefits. He's pretty much loathed here in Seattle. And Yes, he is all about world domination. He's outsmarted and out maneuvered everyone. Even the state or Washington by not having to pay taxes.
SOOOOOO like anyone from the west?
what you outlined above doesn't mirror anything near the definition of a cult though!
You would have done the same thing if you were in that sort of position and don't pretend you aren't that type of person
