Night has fallen upon the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC. The guides have gone home, the lights are out, the school kids are tucked in their beds...yet something incredible is stirring as former night guard Larry Daley (Ben Stiller) finds himself lured into his biggest, most imagination-boggling adventure yet. In this second installment of the Night at the Museum saga, Larry faces a battle so epic it could only unfold in the corridors of the world's largest museum. For me the best little touch is that first Bambi only sense a dangerous situation so he overcome his fear snaps out of it and start to run, only when he hears Mera tell him the exact same words as his mother: run, don't look back!
Only then he realises she's gonna have the same fate as his mother so he jumps in action.

@@Theravingranter That was the record holder at 46 years until they released a Gone with the Wind sequel I didn't even know about in the 90s. On the last day of 1999 that record was broken by Fantasia 2000. When this was released in 2006 it broke the record again and has held it ever since

In Bambi's universe, the Great Prince doesn't necessarily fathers all the young. Not all the young and does belong to him. He just looks after them. This means Bambi is a sole child and has no siblings nor close relatives.
Fun fact: when Mina is yelling at Bambi at 29:09 she yells exactly the same words his mother yelled to him right before she got shot.
I personally think that that’s what made Bambi decide to run back and save her

Fun Fact but it actually isn’t fun at all: the reason the Mothers voice sounds ‘off’ when calling to Bambi is because the Hunter is using a deer caller. Naturally it imitates a deers voice but doesn’t sound quite right. That scene haunted me for weeks as a kid
Before this movie was made, it was initially thought the older buck that adult Bambi fought for Faline in the first movie was named Ronno. However in this mid-quel, they made Ronno a young deer about a year older than Bambi to give an in-depth telling of their rivalry that made it to the first movie. There's even a similarity or reference to the original film where you can see young Ronno pushing Faline away from Bambi is exactly like in the first movie of the older buck pushing Faline away from adult Bambi.

I love Bambi 2 so much! It shows a certain perspective that not enough Disney movies show, and that's a single father trying to raise a child on his own. And while there are other main characters in Disney movies who have a father and no mother (like Belle and Pocahontas), I think Bambi 2 is the only Disney movie so far that actually *focuses* on that perspective, instead of it being a side thing. And I *love* it. X3

Right, Goofy movie, Beauty and the Beast, Pocahontas, Little mermaid, Tarzan(Jane) have dad's but no mom, but Bambi is the only movie that dives into what that world really feels like
So, you’ve noticed Bambi’s father being voiced by Patrick Stewart. But did you know that Bambi was voiced by the same actor who played Nemo in Finding Nemo (Alexander Gould)? I was surprised to learn about that when watching behind the scenes footage of Bambi 2.

I saw Nemo before Bambi as a kid, and when I first saw Bambi 2 I was like “Why does he sound like Nemo?” Lol
Ronno was the buck that Bambi fought for Faline in the original _Bambi_ so yes, he does come back later.
When I was a kid, my mom bought this movie for me, thinking it was the original, and for a few years, I thought it was. While I prefer the original, I still love how beautiful and serene this movie is. You can tell they tried their best to recapture the feel of the original, and it mostly paid off.
One of the best Disney's sequels. I love the father bounding dynamic they choose to show.
Patrick Stewart was the only actor in the cast to have been alive when Bambi first premiered. He was two years old at the time.
Fun fact: Ronno was the Buck that Bambi fought towards the end of the original film, fighting for Faline.
This is probably the longest-ever gap between an original and a sequel.

I love this mid-quel to Bambi, one of the standout films among the Disney direct to video collection. Like it’s predecessor, Bambi 2 is very charming imo. I like how the story focuses on the relationship between Bambi and his father, as well as the development Bambi goes through that leads up to his adulthood in the first film.

I grew up in a single mom household so yeah everyday after school I knew I was gonna be waiting for hours until she got off work. It did indeed suck. Just was very lonely and kinda feeling forgotten even though I knew she was at work so she couldn’t come yet

Ronno stays Bambi's rival into the next movie. He's the buck bambi fights once he's older. He's also a rival in the original book, if I remember correctly. Also, I am a Next Gen, Voyager and Enterprise fan. Picard is best captain.
Love it! Great sequel 🥰 This one hit home for me, because I was raised by a single father, whose pretty stoic and has a hard time opening up. He has always been a great provider and encouraged structure and ambition, happiness, but emotions were hard still kinda are. Total Star Trek fan. Ronald was the bull deer that Bambi fought in the first movie over faline. Fawn is the term for a baby deer. So glad you liked it, take care 🙂

The rude young buck Rono is actually the male deer Bambi fought with over Faline in the original film. So unfortunately no, Rono never outgrows being a rude person

I don't know why this movie hits me in the places it does, but it's such a heartwarming movie and makes me cry everytime. I saw it when it came out, I was only 7 at the time. Crazy how the animation holds up.
With the Bambi using skills he learned against the dogs thing, there was one you forgot: the "observing" or sensing thing that his father taught him. He used that against two dogs in the field when he made them run into each other by dodging at just the right moment. ^^
A few years ago I found this gem of a movie and watch it every year around the time winter turns to spring.

Winter is my favorite season because if its too cold, you can always dress yourself warm. In the summer, when its really hot, you don’t have that option to take off more when you have dropped off your shirt and pants. Thats the reason for me :>
I’m not 100% sure why, I think the father-son bonding plot, but Bambi 2 was my favorite as a kid. I loved the original dearly, but Bambi 2 was the one I loved and watched most. The art and music is SO beautiful 🥹🥹

About the waiting for my parents thing. I didn't really have to wait long for my parents, usually. My middle school was within walking distance of my mom's work place, so I'd just walk there and go home with mom once she got off work.
Idk I saw Bambi1,2for the first time when I was 6 years old. And after 4 years when I was 10 y.o I remembered thi movie and then I forgot. And after 7 years my younger sister (6.y.o) watched on Bambi2 and I rememberd this movie and this opening scene was for me more sad than before. IDK why

In my younger days I read the Felix Salten book Bambi. I saw the movie the same year. The movie was fine, but the book had a lot more to it. I also read Felix Salten's own sequel, Bambi's Children(which came out 12 years later). This Bambi II movie was alright, but I wished it had more of Salten's books in it.

I first watched this movie with my dad and its been one of my favorite Disney sequel/mid-quel's ever since. Nothing will top it, I remember watching it I believe during one of the first Christmas since he and my mom split, and I think that is what really solidified it being one of my favorites because I could really relate to the relationship between Bambi and the Great Prince. I love the scene of them bonding so much

I like winter because it's suspended animation all around, no energy left in the air, nothing can be heard, there is nothing but the survivors of the cold winters...

I don't know how you didn't realize that Ronno was the same dear from the first Bambi that Adult Bambi had to face for Feline. Even the references of Adult Ronno should be obvious

I used to watch a lot of Star Trek when I had cable, particularly TNG and Voyager. :)
And winter - I love it! For several reasons: I love sweaters and drinking hot cocoa and coffee, I love the refreshing bite cold temperatures bring and I love the holidays associated with winter. I’m in Florida which actually gets colder than most people think, but I used to live at Lake Tahoe where we’d always get white Christmases. Those were the days!

EDIT: I'm glad you enjoyed it! If you get a chance, I recommend watching the behind the scenes for making this. (Not for a reaction, just for your own enjoyment!) the sheer amount of love that went into his sequel despite being a disney sequel is amazing.
And I love that it touched on a subject that is rare. Grief but not just of the child, but of the other parent. I love that it told the story of bambi that we missed of course but I feel this was more of a story of his dad. It's so hard to learn to love again when you lose someone, even if you think you are distanced enough to handle it. And it's often someone else in your life who helps you heal through it.
It is well known Walter E. Disney had no intention of making sequels even when others pointed out to him they'd make money. Someone should make a sequel to the kiss Thomas Edison filmed in 1896 in order to break all the records for good but it's not a movie.

I think the sequel to the first Bambi movie
I don't care if it has a "44%" score on RT, the audience score is much higher with 60%. So despite its flaws Bambi II is a guilty pleasure of mine and I grew up with it. I think its a faithful good midquel to the original Bambi and I'll defend both Bambi 1 and 2 until the day I pass away.
One movie you could also watch is Peter Pan (2003) I also grew up with that film and its also a guilty pleasure of mine too.

Its absolutely canon I remember reading one of those little paperback disney books and they talked about the fight in the first book and they said the other deer was named ronno

Love Star Trek but ever noticed the father was Patrick Stuart. More respect for the great prince.
I love both the original an the sequel (which is surprising considering Disney's sequel quality, and nowadays live-action remakes, are usually garbage).
While the first one was more of a slower coming of age story with more gravitas, the sequel was more cartoony and alluded to the original in several scenes. Ronno harassing Feline? Happens again during mating season. The long jump? It's the jump where adult Bambi gets shot.
Although different from the first one, the emotions it evokes, the "soul" of the movie is very moving and it's about the rarely touched (in animation) father-son relationship
Bambi II is wonderful. Disney should re-hire /regroup the team and turn them loose on their other projects unless of course it's the same people who made the recent garbage.
I like that you do the sequels even if they're direct to video/DVD - some of them aren't bad (and I have a lot of nostalgia for them)
