Teresa Teng's family consented to this as the performance was jointly held by the Teresa Teng Cultural Foundation and Jiangsu TV.
The voice you hear is indeed a real person. It is Chen Jia who won the Teresa Teng imitation singing competition held by the foundation in honour of her.
The first two songs are classics of Teresa Teng's and the second one is sung in Cantonese and not Mandarin. The last song you thought was very familiar is because it is Zhou Shen's most famous song "Big Fish" 大鱼 - the one that made him famous.
Also Zhou Shen was pretty much on every Chinese TV channel on New Year's Eve so there's plenty more to react to. You should react to his CCTV performances 你要跳舞吗 "do you want to dance".
Teresa is Zhou Shen's idol. The first two songs was hers whereas the big fish is Zhou Shen's. People don't like Teresa appear in China TV show is totally political issue, just ignore it. We appreciate Teresa's return anyway.

At the stage, it showed the virtual figure of Teresa Teng by advanced technology. But these three songs were performed by a real singer Chen Jia 陳佳 in Beijing PRC who performed the songs superb.

Teresa Teng was a very famous in the whole of Asia in the 1970s and 1980s. Teresa is not only famous in China, she is also very famous in Japan too which is very hard for Chinese singers to make it in Japan.

Teresa Teng has died 20 years ago. She was one of the famous singers during that time. The TV show revive Teresa singer using AI technology to sing together with Zhou Shen. There a lot emotional feeling when Teresa singing the song. Maybe you don't feel it as you may understand the story behind why Teresa and Zhou Shen singing. Thanks for sharing your reaction.
Zhou Shen is a big fan of Tersa Teng who was a famous singer and pass on 1995. Zhou Shen could not see her and he sang to the air.
