Thanks a lot for watching and safe journeys!
One thing I don't understand. You were in Ibiza in december 2016. Used up your 90 days in Schengen, went to Morocco but one month later went to Canary islands. How is that possible?
Excellent question. It's because I first entered Europe that year in early June. You are allowed to stay in the Schengen area for 90 days within 180 days. Once you first enter the Schengen then both the 180 day period and the 90 day period are simultaneously activated. You can go in and out of the Schengen and when you're out then the 90 days period aren't being counted, but the 180 days period is still counting. Since I arrived in Greece in the middle of June, the 180 day period went until the middle of December. But I didn't use up my 90 days all at once, I entered in Greece, then went to the Netherlands, Portugal and Spain and then went back to the US, having used a little more than two months of my 90 days. So I had a few weeks left, which I started using once again when I went to Iceland in November and then Spain. Then I had to leave the Schengen until it had been 180 days from when I first entered Greece the previous June. Once that date in December passed, then I could go back to Europe and start both another 180 day period and 90 days in Europe within that 180 days. Hopefully that makes sense, haha.
@@GabrielTravelerVideos That makes sense. Thanks for clarifying. If I know you just a little bit I guess you will sooner or later end up in Greece. Enjoy your travels
@@GabrielTravelerVideos So, entering Schengen area activates 180-day period during which traveller is allowed to be in the area up to 90 days, but only days spent within the area and within 180-day period count?
@@tombuddy100 Exactly.
@@GabrielTravelerVideos OMG. I've read your explanation 5 times and still don't understand it. I tried, I really tried, it's so incredibly interesting which is why I love your channel so much, But it is seems really hard to track, with leaving islands etc. Plus I'm not very good at math (and it's 4:20 once again here in Portland). But this is why your channel is so great. Because not only do we get to SEE these incredibly awesome places, with you, you also give great insight into HOW you've made traveling so intensely AND editing and posting videos, so incredibly often, seem so easy. Thank you thank you for all your hatdf work! Stay safe.
I visited Girona a few years back and found it really impressive! Honestly, I've been to a lot of cathedrals in Europe, but the one in Girona stuck with me. It's not the most beautiful, but I really felt a different vibe in there, something I couldn't explain. That coming from a nonreligious person. Now let's watch the video and see if you've been there, too. Cheers, Gabriel!
💗
Girona old city is gorgeous! It reminds me of northern Italy. Spain never ceases to amaze me with it's stunning architecture, history, friendly people, delicious cuisine and of course beautiful beaches.
You won't regret going to the north of Spain like Asturias, Basque Country, Galicia, etc. It's such a beautiful, green and peaceful part of Spain, not very touristic as the Mediterranean, but absolutely gorgeous. You should consider going there! A total different Spain awaits for you.
It looks like Ireland there. Galicia is cool.
The old part of Girona is spectacular and is my favourite city in Spain so far. All those cobbled alleyways and steps surrounded by beautiful buildings and bell towers. Its a dream 😊🌿☀️🌷
When Gabriel does a walk, I like to pull up google maps and trace his path. I pinpoint the locations of his path by googling the stores or restaurants he passes .😁
Cool. 👍
I’ve done that too! ~Cara
me too ,,
Gabe I love all your adventures and the stories you tell us you are amazing 😀😀😀😀😀
I love Girona - its small enough to walk around and easy transport to trips to the seaside. Once I was there and they had a flower festival. There were flowers pouring out of drainpipes - it was so creative.
I absolutely love these walking videos of different cities you’ve been doing although very similar to your other videos they seem a bit more in depth and in the moment so to speak and I really love that! Keep up the great work Gabe! I love that you let us come along with you on your travels!
Girona is my winner. From all the places you visited, this is the place I want to visit.
I was in Girona a number of years ago and absolutely loved it! The old town is so charming. I hope you can make time to explore the coastline in Costa Brava and possibly Figueres where Dali has his famous museum. It is really worth visiting…thanks for sharing. I am loving seeing you here!
Loving your Spanish adventure! Just back from trieste northern Italy, interesting area to explore
Excellent, glad to hear it.
Beautiful place!
Loving the Spain tour, its such a peaceful looking place. It also reminds me of Mexico!
Girona is where Lance Armstrong and some of his teammates would live in the offseason, training and riding and getting ready for the season. What a great place to live, if even part time.
I love girona! It’s a huge cycling Mecca with a great coffee scene too. I’d move there in a heartbeat!
And that Dr. Zeuss tree!! I paused on that for a while. VERY cool!
I was in Girona two months ago for a whole day while i made Barcelona my homebase before visiting the Pyrinnees. Sadly, i didn't enjoy the weather you seem to be enjoying there. Incidentally, i took a couple of selfies at that same spot you are standing at Independence Plaza before finding the ATM.
Pleased you liked Girona, had an evening there a few years ago, liked it so much had to return a year later and spent almist 2 days there just wandering around the old town before a beach day at Tossa da Mar and a day at Montserrat. Theres so much to see in the area.
Another wonderful and fantastic clip from the amazing Gabe 😃✌️
Spain is so beautiful. Camino is on my bucket list!
Not a bad place for a picnic in late spring 4:35 . On the grass by the river. 🥐🥐🥙🥚🥚🍷
*Gabriel: First of his name, slayer of dragons!*
Beautiful city.
Great video brother from the imperial county California 👍👍🖐️🇺🇲
Love it what a beautiful city really enjoyed this video, great channel, excited to see where you are going next
7 euros for an ATM fee is ridiculous but I guess when the government has high taxes on everything it trickles down to the people 😮
Thanks!
Thanks a lot. ✌️
A blessed good day! Sir Gabe, Wowwww 😍 I'm Surprised For amazing 😍 Historical Heritability of Girona Spain, and beautiful 😍 Place Of Filming locations of Game of Thrones, Quiet Perfect Tourist Spots for the Family and friends, Thank u so much again for your Wonderful walk around tour video sir Gabe, Stay safe and Godbless u 🙏🙂♥️ from the Philippines 🇵🇭 sir Marvin 👏👏👏👍
Awesome video, one of your best. Certainly worth visiting.
Beautiful!
Another beautiful Spanish city ❤
Thanks for the chat and walking tour what a beautiful part of the city! ~Cara 😊
Been hoping that one day you would do the Camino so I was excited to hear you say it is on your bucket list! Girona is amazing! Thanks for a great video:-)
Just an hour north of there is Figueres, the Salvador Dalí Museum is really worth a visit.
The Pyrenees is also nice, beautiful landscape with amazing hikes.
Such a great journey in Spain!!!
Amazing and mind blowing architecture and builders in those centuries. I'm not sure our modern building structures would last the test of time as these have. I love my armchair travel through your eyes 😊
Magnificent Gabriel 😀 thank you! 😊❤
Loving travel ❤
lovely place, was there about 5 years ago on a day trip from lloret de mar...the women were stunning..!
If you're in that part of Spain, you should go on into France to Collioure and Argeles.
I am ready for Spain!
Wow, Gabe! That is a beautiful city! I hope you decide to stay a little longer and do some more exploring!
Another great video Gabe.
Just a reminder that whilst we in the UK are obviously in Europe, we are no longer part of the European Union so the Euro rules don't apply.
We in the UK now have to present our passports etc when travelling through Europe.
Overseas visitors can stay in the UK for up to 6 months, sometimes longer and residents of the European Union and USA do not need a visa to enter the UK
Wow 😮 Girona looks very impressive. 👍😊🏆
Girona is a wonderful place fantastic video subscribed cheers
We loved both Madrid and Barcelona. Loved the little town of Chicon.
Girona looks like a really cool city. That old town looks to be pretty Spartan and heavily fortified. I'd definitely like to visit sometime.
Getting close to my area. Hope you're coming up via Cadaques and on to Colioure.
A token of love for you dear Gabriel❤❤❤
The red bridge you walked across was designed by Gustav Eiffel.
Thanks. SPAIN!!!!
I’m so jealous! Thank you for the return trip!!!❤️❤️ So mannyballyvways and plazas. The old town is so worth it! Are you renting a car there? If you are exploring Costa Brava, Tossa de Mar is so cool with the city wall on the beach! So beautiful!
All right, all right, all right!
Parlez-vous français ? You've visited french speaking countries before too. How about camping for free somewhere with good wifi and get a good language-learning app, best for intermediate and advanced learners, who want to improve their skills by watching TV and movies?
Prop up your feet somewhere good and write. Draw up from the depths and let it flow out. Spring breezes and a nice vin ordinaire? You've probably got a thumb drive somewhere or some good beginnings in the cloud somewhere? Go for it! ☆ 🌲😎🌲
@NostaIgia Yes, good question. Some say that writing is a disease.
After you've had a life - it's not just a job anymore.
Plus, not everyone can imagine living on less than $1/day. Maybe about 1/3 of the people on the planet would be inspired by avoiding luxury as Gabe has accomplished for decades. Many more would find it useful to see how to avoid the unnecessary suffering entailed by running all of the time. Our species is running the planet into the ground.
So, as Aristotle said: " the goal of action is reflection."
Each has to decide when the life begins and how long the job will be chasing ones life.
It's said that neuro-plasticity and brain health is improved by learning languages and playing music. You might remember the path taken by Gabe's father, btw?
That tree was a crepe myrtle. They are all over the south. - of US.
Nice town, very estetic houses around the river. As you have some more days in Catalunya, I can recommend Tossa de Mar, in the evening Castell Medieval de Valltordera near Lloret de Mar with knight games and flamenco show in the same day, Figueres with Dali Theatre and Museum. If you fly from Barcelona, it is interesting site of Montserrat Monastery in the mountains southwest from Barcelona. If you go to France, the city of Carcassonne is out of this world (just like Mont-Saint-Michel in Normandy in the northern France as national symbols), just like some Provence historic towns (Arles, Nimes, Avignon, Pont du Gard), while I have best memories though from French north regions of Normandy (cliffs on Alabaster Coast near Etretat, Bayeux tapestry, Mont-Saint-Michel, Rouen), Brittany (Dinan, Fougeres, Saint-Malo, Rennes, Carnac) and Alsace (Strasbourg, Colmar, Riquewihr, Eguisheim, Kaysersberg).
09:30 Sort of reminds me of Florence, where buildings flank the river, i.e. they have been built right on the edge of the river banks.
Hi Gabriel. If you go North into France, you have to check out the medieval city of Sarlat, and the prehistoric town of Les Eyzies. I have been visiting that area every summer since I was young, and it is absolutely magnificent. Look forward to following your journey. Oh yeah, and I will be going to the Marble mountains in a few days... Been a long time coming :D
Wow, amazing, enjoy the Marbles. Be prepared for snow, there could still be some up there. Let me know how it goes when you get back.
oh snap we get a whole movie coming soon
oh wow if you do the Costa Brava, I recommend the beach town Tossa del Mar.....Cadaques..Palamos....Calella...Begur (Medieval Village)
I vote French riviera, there are some beautiful towns and cities with picturesque landscapes
I see much hype about Cote d'Azur, it is chic, but to be honest, I see Provence as far better places with my eyes and memories, with historic towns of Arles, Nimes, Avignon, aquaduct Pont du Gard, when I see Ligurian coast in Italy better as a seaside destination.
this week Spain will be busy because of British school halff term holiday!!!
Hi, I am from India.. Loved your Videos..
Beautiful video and great photography! Nice thumbnail -I thought it was me at first glance! 😂😄🤭
Ha, now that you mention it, definitely similar resemblance.
@Gabriel Traveler I've been told this before epecially when I get done up. Whyyy is my sub count frozen?😭🤣
In Girona, you are close to Llivia, the weird exclave of Spain entirely surrounded by France. Of course, Llivia is closer to Andorra, where you were a few years ago, as I recall. Otherwise, where will you go now? Up into France to explore, say, the Dordogne? Or will you go along the Pyrenees via weird places like Canfranc Estacion (a huge railroad terminal in a tiny Pyrenean village, now sadly restored and turned into a hotel) to join the Camino Frances to Santiago de Compostela? Or will you fly to Madeira or the Azores (both with direct flights to Barcelona)? Or somewhere completely different?
Dave Paullides mentioned Willets today on his latest Canam Missing Persons video. It’s around 50:00.
Hi Gabriel, It's a magnificent city with beautiful cathedrals which Spain has many of. This does look like one of those cities that most tourists would overlook but it has some attractions and looks like a nice walking city with many restaurants and shops. I'm not sure if you know that there is a Jewish Community Museum in the area.
22:43 Yes. France, please. :)
While you were walking through Girona, I was walking on the beach through the surf, drinking a beer ;-)
Have you ever been to Palermo, Italy? Well worth visiting
Gabe, love your stories...
if ever by any chance we part ways you won't be neither hungry nor thirsty to payback just a little of entertainment you provide for me...
it's a promise...
What a shame you are not staying in Spain and heading North to Cadaques on the coast; Dali has a home on the water which is wonderful to visit and it’s a very charming small town. Also, visiting the Basque Country -San Sebastian/Bilbao. I always am wanting you to stay in a place longer and dig deeper. Why leave Spain when there is so much to explore?
If you get the chance next time in Spain, Cartagena in Murcia is a city worth a look, a naval city but lovely architecture 🇪🇸 Have you ever visited Malta ? On my list to visit !
Yes, I visited Malta a few years ago, really liked it: czcams.com/video/X7kpbJ0_Qn8/video.html
You could do the whole Shengen zone duration in Spain and not get tired of everything to see and the lifestyle
Very true.
You may try applying for Spanish residency, allowing you to stay longer in Europe.
Hello
You make a beautiful video, I support you
Great, thanks.
A basilica and a cathedral in one small town. What's up with that?
I didn't see anything that reminded me of Game of Thrones although the basilica tower does look familiar. Is that the one they blew everyone up in? Did they shoot from some high spot?
Gerona is a fantastic place wprth seeing as a curious fact in France surrounded by French territory not many kilometers to Girona province is the rather unknown town of Llivia a beatiful place thats belongs to Spain since 17 century although before is was already under has domain and it is not domain and it is not a colony like Gibraltar it is a 100% legally Spanish territory.
22:47 Isn’t that the “shame” scene right there? (Haven’t watched GoT in years tho so I could be completely wrong…)
26:43 This is also from a scene no?
Everything from that point and forward in the video is probably from a scene lol
first!!!! cheers from Canada!!
Second, cheers.
💗💗💗💗💗
“Benidorm, a classic place for Brits to go and get drunk..” 😂, yeah, sorry for them lot, we’re not all like that! 🇬🇧
Cabo de Gato most excellent beach area of Southern Spain. Don't tell anybody!
I JUST SAW A CZcams VIDEO THAT THERE IS MAJOR FLOODING IN VALENCIA. BEEN FOLLOWING YOU IN SPAIN. YOU WERE JUST IN VALENCIA. CAN YOU VERIFY FLOODING IN VALENCIA? ALWAYS ENJOY YOUR ADVENTURES. I’M LIVING THROUGH YOU SINCE I CAN’T DO WHAT YOU’RE DOING. HAVE A GREAT DAY. AND THANKS.
Wow, I guess so, I hadn't heard anything about it but looks like there was major rain and flash flooding a few days ago: www.thelocal.es/20230523/rain-causes-flash-flooding-and-school-closures-across-southern-spain

No plans at the moment but definitely on the list to visit sometime.

czcams.com/video/8EOZAwJKzI0/video.html
"hard" work! Ha! Wish I was there!
I remember back years of that Catalonia people try to spreat from the Spain get fully indipandant....🤔🤔🤔
Probably a good idea to stay in the area and do the French side of the Pyrennees before it gets too hot in the region. This is probably the best time of year for a visit. Cool cities like of course Carcassonne and a very interesting history. This was the region of the Cathars, a Christian movement that wanted to seperate from the Roman church. This proved to be wishful thinking and the movement was wiped out by a crusade. The Cathars made a famous last stand in the castle of Montsegur. The band Iron Maiden made a song about it with the same name. The ruin of the castle is still there.
"I stand alone in this desolate space
In death they are truly alive
Massacred innocence, evil took place
The angels were burning inside
Centuries later I wonder why
What secret they took to their grave
Still burning heretics under our skies
Religion's still burning inside
At the gates and the walls of Montségur
Blood on the stones of the citadel"
ma ma ma my Girona
Looks a little like Florence around the river.
👍
I also pronounce it Barthelona and I don't even have a lisp.
