  • A reading of one of Poe's most bizarre tales of obsession. Vincent Price shows admirable restraint, I think, given the sheer intensity of the Gothic weirdness on display here.
The Latin epigraph translates as: 'My companions said to me, if I would visit the grave of my friend, I might somewhat alleviate my worries.'

One of my personal favorites! "Either the memory of past bliss is the anguish of today, or the agonies which are have their origins in the ecstasies which might have been". Good God, the misery and madness is extreme!

I'm a Lovecraft fan and certainly he has his moments. But NO ONE else to date - in either prose or poetry - can create mood and atmosphere with the artistry and mastery of Poe!

Amongst the true inspirations of CZcams for a channel as mine. This ending creeped me out the most the first time.
