- Zappa im Duett: Unter dem Namen "Colour Flash" präsentieren der von Geburt an blinde Keyboarder und Pianist Mats Öberg, Jahrgang 1971, aus Schweden und der US-amerikanische Sänger, Saxophonist, Flötist Standards des Komponisten Frank Zappa (1940 -1993). Als Siebzehnjähriger hatte Mats Öbergs anlässlich eines Konzerts von Frank Zappa 1988 in Stockholm wegen seines "unglaublichen" Spiels, so Zappa später, ein Jobangebot bekommen. Napoleon Murphy Brock, Jahrgang 1945, gehörte in den Siebzigern der legendären Zappa-Formation "Mothers of Invention" an und war mit seiner Bühnenpräsenz, Stimme und musikalischen Beteiligung an vielen Songs stilbildend für die Band. Im ersten Teil des St. Katharinen-Konzerts 2022 verwandelt Öberg von seiner CD "Frankful" einige Zappa-Klassiker in überraschende Improvisationen im Stile der Pianisten Keith Jarret oder Chick Corea. Im zweiten Teil heisst es "Zappa pure". Das 11. Konzert der außergewöhnlichen Musikreihe "Zappa spielt für Bach" seit 2008 dient der Musikpflege an St. Katharinen, deren große Orgel von Johann Sebastian Bach sehr geschätzt wurde. Gefördert wurde Rekonstruktion und Konzertreihe von der Hamburger Stiftung Günter und Liselotte Powalla. Konzeption: Sebastian Knauer

I totally you hear you bro, but don't deprive yourself of great music. Who knows what Frank would be now, my guess is he would be a center-right person as he was very conservative in many ways. You gotta remember, they're rock musicians who, for whatever reason, always end up being 99.9 per cent wacko liberal. BTW, saw an old interview the other day of Frank expressing disappointment in the effectiveness of our bombs compared with the Russians bombs. He specifically said that he was not against bombs, just poorly made ones because of our corrupt industrial-military complex.

Saw Napoleon with Project Object at a North Side bar in Chicago years ago, his performance changed my life! Thanks for writing! 🗣 ZAPPA!
