    The brothers did a nice install and only one bug was harmed in the process 😂🤣😅 You nailed it with " lack of care " You care enough to make sure your work is quality so you have a good reputation so much that customers ask for you to do their work. He obviously didn't care.

      Mike is not going to find a stand-up older Hvac guy. Finding young men and training them and treating them like family is how his business has thrived. The problem with finding an older technician is he will not like Peter or Daniel trying to show them anything. It's an age thing. So any new hires will have to be same age as Peter or Daniel or younger.

    I have the same furnace, Lennox Whisper Heat G20, 75000 BTU, built in 1989. My father in-law had it installed in 1990. We bought the house from him 6 years ago, the furnace has never given us or him a problem in 34 years of service 👍

  • @TheGhettoLobster
    @TheGhettoLobster Před měsícem +1

    Whisper heats were notorious for cracked heat exchanges because they used their dura-curved design. The damper was the first thing to open on a call for heat and had an end switch to prove it opened. Very odd unit.

    Awesome video. Been a long time viewer of Mikey pipes and have enjoyed your videos as much if not more for your calm demeanor in explaining things but never taking anything away from your boss who is funny as well as very educational as you are sir. But I give you great credit to being honest enough to show the faults and bullsh*t one as*hol# can cause and you documenting it on video which gives great credit to the company you work for as being true, absolutely true professionals in your trade. Thank you for work, educating the public, and entertainment your videos provide to the world.

    I think you may have installed the plenum upside down. The flange was supposed to adapt duct to furnace. Normally the vinyl flex connector is installed above the plenum. Just installed 2 new HVAC systems yesterday. We are a small 3 man operation with over 42 years field experience. Keep up the great work Daniel and Peter. Mikey is very lucky to find guys like you. I can see you guys running Pipe Doctor New York location very soon when Mikey makes the big move to Florida. Cheers !!

    Those Lennox G20 Whisper Heat furnaces were one of a kind. They were 80% efficient but were natural draft. The nice thing about them was they didn't require the chimney have stainless steel liner. The damper door would open on a call for heat similar to a boiler flue damper. Overall they were pretty reliable, but a little hard to work on the pilot assembly.

    • @boby115
      @boby115 Před 6 měsíci

      Yes, a lot of those were installed in the Midwest to avoid flue liners? I’m assuming somebody’s coming back to install a flue liner on Daniel’s job 🤷🏻‍♂️.

    Man I installed a ton of those in the early 90's here in Houston,,, and they really were whisper quiet,, you could BARELY hear them light and the quality was excellent..
    That's when Lennox really built a hell of a piece of equipment !!

    I would of put that furnace on a 12inch box. It helps with return air and would of helped you with your plenum. You do very nice work!

    • @boby115
      @boby115 Před 5 měsíci

      The next size up ( Rheem / Ruud ) requires a lift box for the return. I don’t believe the hundred thousand BTU model requires a lift box. It does require a flue liner for that Masonary Chimney or a dilution air kit (only if the chimney passes the seven times rule).

    Those whisper heats crack at the first turn in the heat exchanger. Look at it from the burner side.

    • @boby115
      @boby115 Před 5 měsíci +1

      Bill , you are correct . Small cracks can always be found at the first turn of the heat exchanger on these older units, much like the old Lennox G8s. They normally don’t cause much air disturbance or problems but a crack is a crack .

    My neighbor has the Whisper Heat. I think her's is mid 80's? On that furance install you did, I noticed the gas valve was missing and also, I see you have the power switchn right in front of the slot for the air fitler, and no filter in the slot.

  • @davidnull5590
    @davidnull5590 Před 6 měsíci +1

    That furnace has to be newer than 1979. 1979 was the first year for those yellow-ish energy labels on gas appliances. My guess is very late 1990s. I had a building with a gas steam boiler from ''94 -- -- 1894, it did what it needed to do in a multifamily building; the only problem was it was covered in about four inches of crunchy asbestos plaster, I didn't want to touch it.

  • @gas_man1565
    @gas_man1565 Před 6 měsíci +2

    100 % that lennox is cracked. ur not looking at the right location. they tend to crack on the back side of the hex.. look into the combustion burner and look at the bends at the back. cracks happen mostly closest to the return side.

    The “Whisper Heat” was a rated 80 per cent due to spark ignition ( that was a colossal failure ) first generation. Lennox had a recall on the ignition system and paid contractors to replace the ignition module two years after its debut. Once the repair was made it was a very good unit.👍👍🇨🇦
