  • Dean Radin Ph.D. is a scientist who has been exploring mysterious anomalies of consciousness for decades. As chief scientist at the Institute of Noetic Sciences, Dean has conducted many scientific experiments testing the existence of telepathy, precognition, mind-matter interaction, and other anomalies of the mind. It is a field of study which remains controversial, but as we explore in today’s episode of Waking Cosmos, the evidence for some of these “psi phenomena” is overwhelming. Today Dean and I discuss these effects and consider what they might tell us about consciousness, and perhaps, the nature of reality. Among other topics, we also explore Dean’s experiments probing the observer effect in quantum physics, and the possible role of consciousness in the collapse of the quantum wave-function.
I hope you enjoy this episode of Waking Cosmos. If you would like to support open-minded conversations about consciousness and reality, please consider becoming a Patreon subscriber. Thank you!

    • @areyousureaboutthat6673
      @areyousureaboutthat6673 Před 4 lety +6

I think there are different mechanisms for different types of psi.
Perhaps it rests on this, though; Regardless of the model of existence/"the very tiny" (quantum, string, simulation, ect.), it is all made out of information.
      Information encoded into matter.
Our bodies are made up from this matter, as far as we know.
Our body's matter has organized itself in a way that produces/channels a stream of specific memory we call ego, which recognises patterns.
Matter, made of information, with this conditioning/structure can communicate with our ego and other mental processes.
If the information of matter isn't bound by time the way we (our ego and other thought processes) are, and it communicates with us, then maybe through "knowing," information bound neither by time nor distance becomes accessible to our ego and other thought processes.

Yes, enjoyable, you did a great interview, thank you.
Both of you are experiencers, so the problem is convincing others using scientific method.
For me, this topic is quite frustrating when relating to others about telepathy or ESP, that is except for their stories where they or a relative had a psi experience that proved it, yet they remain grossly skeptical despite their own evidence.
Easy for me to believe, I grew up witnessing my father reading others thoughts countless times.
At 8 yrs old, I had a vision my 2nd wife (exactly what she looked like) when I met her 40 years later.
She proved to me our pineal gland was not just a receiver, but also a transmitter.
As personalities are different, we have varying levels of gifts, yet most believe in reincarnation, & many of us seem to be somewhat dyslexic. Thank you again.

Radin is always awesome. Mind/consciousness/metacognitive information processing is what existence itself is/became. The dream(s) of its being is ALL that we can ever know. A straight out Idealism is the safest bet imo. Something like Campbell's VR's or Kastrup's Altars are my current preferences of what most likely outlines the truth. From there, one could easily conjure up all kinds of specific mechanisms for PSI but its only speculation unless they can eventually be distinguished via experiment.

My son turned out to be a seer, like myself.
Meaning we see things before they happen. This can be from minutes to months or years in some cases. I've always had it and was told about it at a young age. Grandma would say l had the gifts😄 l would predict future events, get up to phone, knowing who it was too. Much stronger when children were young. I've started again, pure curiosity.
Lol, son knew l wasn't talking garbage when he come home on the Friday night after work. Eye's sticking out? He told me about being surrounded by fire, but he wasn't scared.
Machine parts they made, he said how the floor created most flames.
    Years of oil.
Following Monday morning, he left and was home half hour later. Place had literally melted, he said. Firemen couldn't do anything but control it. So he learned to take notice and be able to chill and get message.😊
Grandma also said everyone is capable of doing this..
Practice remembering thought in brain when your ears start ringing.
Or first person you thought of.

This still seems debatable, to rank them as such, but compared to the scientific view which discounts direct experience entirely, and coming from a researcher, is a very refreshing perspective.

It has been about 140 years since since the Theory of Evolution. One has only to look around at the miracles of problem-solving in real science that have led to the absolute best times to be alive. In other words, people are still denying reality. Pessimists refuse to innovate and they love wallow in the past mythologies.

New concepts become targets for the many whose minds are closed. Their positions and expertise are immediately threatened and their reaction is to destroy new thinking. Those with open minds do not carry this agenda. They are willing to listen to a concept that does not sync with their knowledge base. Since change is constant, one must be willing to stay “open” to ideas that sound far fetched. They have a vested interest in blocking new ideas. This has always been the case. So many great concepts have been strangled by the “closed” mind.

What is NEVER discussed is the process by which emitted entities determine whether or not they have been observed and then create the observed results. Observation is a process of Perception In Consciousness, therefore the registration of observation must also be a process of Perception In Consciousness, making consciousness an intrinsic aspect requisite to the emitted entities.

MetaRising quote: "Precognition is actually a sensitivity to a probable future, rather than an actual future."
In my experience, I have to disagree and say 'not always.'
    Here's my explanation...
In my early 20's I was cycling around town at around midnight. It was the perfect time to get out and do so because there no cars on the road.
As I was heading home, I approached a traffic light at a major intersection near my house.
I'm typically in a meditative mood when out doing things by myself and as such, I began to receive a Vision of a vehicle whipping around the corner out of control from the intersection that I was approaching.
This particular precognition had it making a right-hand turn in a full sideways slide and I projected that it would be sliding at the exact location I would be if I continued sliding.
The projection that I made was cognitive rather than precognitive.
The precognition involving the sliding car did not show the car hitting me, nor did it show me involved in any way.
So... Did this precognition show an actual event or a probable event? I'd have to say that it showed an actual event and left it up to me to decide whether I wanted to be apart of the event of the car sliding sideways through the intersection.
    Excellent interview, btw.
As you can see, I watched the entire video =)

Hi Adrian. Do you know of any telepathy experiments in which one person simply writes down words or sentences that are telepathically communicated by another person? Experience tells me that if I'm in a room with the right person, then I can convey words to them via subvocalizations. Of course the skeptics would assume I was blinking in Morse code or something, so that's an issue. Surely this obvious approach has been attempted under controlled conditions. What are your thoughts? Would you consider this parapsychology-
I’ve been a therapist since 2002- In 2011 One of my clients was going through a really hard time with a break up and just really depressed- well 20min into the session I felt this overwhelming presence of LOVE beaming through every cell of my being and then there was an instant download into my mind.. (telepathic communication) I am a family member that has passed away and I am here to love and support him- so I asked him, do you have any family relatives that have passed away... There was silence for a minute and then he said yeah my dad- In that moment I was shown that we never stop existing and that we are truly magnificent beings ! After this awakening experience I started getting telepathic communication telling me to photograph the sky. I didnt see anything but took photo anyway. You see a bunch of craft in the photo. Another time I was walking at the park and again was told to take a photo and in the photo you see this boomerang craft. Which was NOT seen with the eyes. • @stephencarlsbad
    @stephencarlsbad Před 4 lety

Mysticism and science intersect at the same point called intuition.
Most know of intuition by that gut feeling that you get.
Science has described it this way too.
Science has also labeled intuition as the highest form of intelligence.
Take for example Sir Issac Newton or any scientist for that matter. Sir Issac Newton developed calculus in the same amount of time it takes a first-year college student to learn calculus.
But where did calculus come from before Newton discovered it?
No one really knows the answer.
However, he did find calculus using his intuition.
He focused on a question and searched the cosmos using his abstract mind to feel for innovative information that would become the next puzzle piece to his newly developed math.
The term Intuition is also used not only by science but by mystics too.
    Coincidence?
From what I can see, humans including animals are decoders of energy.
We take in light energy as it bounces off of objects and the energy is then decoded by our brain to represent a particular object, a car, couch, person or pet, etc.
Sound and hearing work the same way in that particular sound wave signatures are decoded by the brain.
Intuition, from what I can see, is the decoding of abstract energy.
We use intuition by feeling for energy signatures and then decode those energy signatures into usable pictures in our mind.
What I have found is that everything that we can possibly think of has its own particular energy signal or code, much like the individual codes of elements on the periodic table of elements.
Feelings have precise energy codes, numbers, people, as well as new things that are still in abstract form waiting for discovery.
When a scientist uses his intuition to find new information or answers, he really doesn't know precisely what that new thing is but if he gets close enough in his understanding of what he needs or what it might look like, then he can feel his way through the unknown abstract field until he feels something that feels right and then decodes its signature into an abstract mental picture and viola, innovation happens.
This is particularly why I think true AI will never come to fruition.
AI will need to intuit if it wants to innovate and so far science has limited knowledge on intuition, what it is and how it works. Cracking that intuition nut doesn't appear to be anywhere on the horizon.

Why do Western scholars & studies ignore or skirt the philosophies established in ancient India that have distinctly spelt out all unraveled questions along these lines with clarity and incontrovertibly? They were developed in times when the mind was less muddled, less deluded and less consumed with the self. You shouldn't put on your mental brakes in the name of religion because this stuff is not religion but was tagged as such by European "scholars" over the last couple of centuries.
Most Western researchers are quietly these Eastern truths to then try and build theories scientifically around them to then try and test them in the lab.
