- Sölden is one of the most popular ski regions in Austria. At an altitude of 3000 m there is a mountain station for the tourists. As it is built on permafrost stone that can shift, it stands on a hydraulic base that adapts to the moving ground. In 2010, one of the most modern cable cars in the world was built to bring guests to the station. Michael Gritsch is responsible for maintaining the cable cars. In his revision he checks every reel, every rope - whilst standing on a moving cable car. The most important requirement for the job: a head for heights.

No way you would get me outside the gondola. Thanks to these guys we can enjoy a safe ride and skiing. Thank you!
I'm not good when it comes to heights in fact watching this made me come over funny. These people that have no fear of heights I admire them and I wish I had there nerve. Thank you for the video.
I'd like that job. I love wrenching and mountains. Who knew there's a job that combines the two.
Blimey.......I was there on school trip in 1965. Long ski's with leather bindings and no quick release. It was awesome.
I've been in that skylift it goes really high.
how long dose it take to take one up.
@@djzman 10 min.
Skylift? Aerial tram or 3S.
That is in Solden , Austria ?
Amazing job. 🙏🙏
Man this looks fun
Amazing engineering
I'd love to do this job
There's not a chance in hell you would ever get me on that thing, lol.
as a german i just want to hear Micheal talk without this damn translation
I'd do that! Seems fun!
Nice
That is scary!
Heck I can't even ride in them....😂😂
- Hey, what do you do for a living?! - I'm on the fresh air every day at the heights of ~300 feet above the ground. - Wo... nice :Đ
it seems like they are getting their adrenaline rush in and saying it's no big deal kinda like a tightrope walker
I would never RIDE on a cable car let alone fix one. .... jesus.
If - it is high safety standards for workers - why don't they use hardhats?
How do you say "BIG BALLS"! in Austrian!
Horgott dear hat eiar
how are the cable cars' ropes brought up the mountains in the first place for construction? anyone knows?
Crane cable car same for station building, crane cable car
Is this also available in german?
Nein
@@icecreamsundae1038 Okay, alles klar.
THIS IS A FUNITEL
Search for Fred Dibnah. These guys are like playing in the kindergarten in comparison... ;)
I searched and don't agree with u, this job is sooo dangerous.
I've a bigger question. How do we even put the cable up there in the first place?
Connect dot A with dot B and push cables. Then cables automatic eeach highe
The place itself is accessible without the ropeway on ground although very arduous, that's how the stations and pylons are built. As for the cable-laying, a helicopter took one strand up, and then lowered through the previously extended strand before each end mended into a single continuous loop.
this is the gondola where spectre was filmed
what about the wheels that run along the line, dont want to get an appendage caught when thats moving
It’s a Gondola, not a Gondula.
I was wondering what a 'gondula' was.
Pretty sure she said 'ganjala' hahaha
The ganjala smells funny.
🇦🇹🇦🇹❤️❤️
Hmmm ponders what happens when the computer crashes and wont reboot !
I don't understand why they would ever need to work on a gondola without bringing it back to the station.
This guy is alpha male, he got huge balls.
There's a newer one in Switzerland, Grindelwald
Perma-frost stone? Sounds legit...like stone frozen mud...have they ever been on actual perma frost?
"Permafrost is abundant at high elevations in mid-latitude mountains, where the annual mean temperature is below - 3 °C. It contains variable amounts of ice and exists in different forms: in steep bedrock, in rock glaciers, in debris deposited by glaciers and in vegetated soil." Source: EEA

@@asmqb7222 boops you back
Very interesting but I stopped watching after 1 minutes because of the insanely obnoxious "music". Thumbs down.
Not cable car it's a gondola. Big difference between the two
2010... there is already a new most modern cable car built, so this is pretty old technology >_< - Everything on the top there is different nowadays.
Is this in Afrika? 😂 🤣
Don't forget to reapply the emergency brake when your done messing around, or else 4 families and 5 kids might fly down backwards and careen to their demise.
Not very professional without helmets...standard practise in all height safety work around the world...
Not going to make much of a difference
I work on lifts for a living, helmets are only for helicopter days
The lack of gender diversity disgusts me
