The difference of each daughter watching a different father die and the words that were said before death is absolutely tragic. Vander left Vi with "take care of Powder." And Silco left Jinx with "don't cry, you're perfect". The Absolute strength behind the emotions between each one is so destructive to my emotions.

Why I feel inadvertently, Vi was the 'antagonist' of the series to Silco and Jinx. Where her blaming Silco was 100% evil and Jinx was a helpless powder and not a woman who could run the lanes if Silco passed, pushed the ending harder than any of the other characters. Straight up why I think Vander kept trying to show her he was the villain who should have trusted Silco instead of betraying him. Where so much baggage brought such harsh feelings to everyone, I mean the FIRST thing she does is strike Powder, traumatizing her permanently. When Silco died, she had NOT A HINT of remorse or pity to Jinx, just a frightful concern of Jinx breaking instead of "I'm so sorry Jinx" knowing then and there she made one more mistake, because instead she repeated "its ok, we're going to be ok", thinking initially if silco dies, powder comes back and they all live happily ever after in the lanes, to the point of guilt where she JUST looks away to let Jinx go and start the war.

I mean the crazy twist for me there was when vi kept trying to "snap her out of it" with "remember blah blah" like she was traumatized and forgotten... just for the opposite effect, she always remembered them.... but she only remembered the negative looks and only brought up the conflict with the others in the past opposes to the generic "yeah you're right, I'm a jedi, like my father" where instead it be more like luke reminding Vader of obi wan and how he cut his limbs off to bring out the good in him

The beauty of the final shot was not that "peace was so close," it was not close at all. It never would have happened, because Silco never would have given Jinx to them. The beauty of the final shot was seeing Jinx do what her fathers (Vander and Silco) wanted to do, but never could because they loved her too much to go to war. When she finally embraced who she was, the very first thing she did was start the revolution. Basically, the very argument against the war, was the very reason it was necessary. "We cannot go to war, think of the children!" Being ended with the child saying, "We *must* go to war, think of us!" There is something poetic about it that many people seem to miss.

I would add in that that upper class council was full of greedy hypocrites who were much worse than Silco could ever be. The fact part of their "peace" depended on putting a mentally ill teenager in prison for the rest of her life or executing her speaks volumes to how petty they are and completely out of touch that they had to be killed for any sense of justice or balance to occur. Silco had at least some sort of principles or love guiding him, some extreme hardships in his life that made him an effective leader in a shitty situation. Not one of the people/robot in leadership position had an ounce of integrity or love for their people. Silco was fucked up and kind of evil but he never lied to anyone about it, including himself.
I think what we should see in season 2 is Jinx embracing her role as a ruthless leader, taking the reigns left for her.

    • @Violet2148
      @Violet2148 Před rokem +117

You forget something, Zaun was going to get their independence without Jinx being given to them. I agree with you that peace was never going to happen, it was too late since the council never really cared for the people of Zaun , the revolution was inevitable anyways. In the undercity now there will be conflict with the other leaders of the drug business , Sevika is alive and she never was really attached to Jinx and eventually she will know that was Jinx who killed Silco.
Jinx not only will have to face the topsiders , she will have to face the undercity mafia too, and if Cait's mother dies , she will create a conflict between her and Vi. Vi probably will try to protect her sister but she also cares for Cait, and in the state Jinx ended , I don't think their relationship can be repaired at this point . If Vi have to choose , she will probably choose Cait, and I would not blame her for that unless she can convince Jinx to get the mental treatment she needs, but I don't think it will happen since Arcane is a big Greek tragedy.

AND THEY NAILED HER IN EVERY SINGLE ROLE like, I really was almost forgetting other ways we can view her when she was clearly of those, at the same time it was never in a "three different persons" way, Jinx coming down the bridge was as terrifing for me just as Darth Vader in Rogue One on the hallway scene, but if you look closesly, you can still see her as a lost girl and a maniac. It's also interesting to see how Vi reacted differently to the same trauma (their parents brutaly murdered) she took the weight of everything on her shoulders and her temper got screwed because she must be so freaking tense, but she held onto the caring side of her anyway, even if she thinks all it's her fault.

When Vi refuse to let her come with them on the last mission, you can see the terrible effect this hand on Jinx, it's like saying you're not good enough. Before Jinx was fragile, this I think finally broke her. She just needed so badly to prove herself to Vi, that she was not a jinx, but sadly "she is JINX" after all.

@@barbarar2216 yeah it was truly masterfully done. And they even succeeded in playing mind games with the audience aswell, seeing how many people truly believe that Silco was not the one true evil person in the entire series. He is another character that was so brilliantly done with all of his psychotic behaviour and never taking responsibility, and even trying to blame everyone else for things he caused, even going so far as to want to punish the people he blames for the consequences of his own actions.
When Powder had not yet gone through the second traumatic moment in her life, she learned from her patchwork family (especially Vander), that she needs to be honest and take responsibility for her actions, same way Vi is also being raised by him, but he has so much going on, he cannot fully be a father for them at all times, which then leads to alot of mistakes as the kids flaunder their way through this messed up chain of events. And ultimately, her feeling responsible and sorry for everything and thinking that she is always the cause of everything bad that happens, that pretty much turns into her snapping and trying to drown these feeling out with her psychotic "fun" persona that does the exact opposite of what her frail original persona is, Jinx does not care at all and she takes zero responsibility, as a counterweight to all the responsibility Powder thinks she has to bear and which has been crushing her, since the moment that Vi talked to her in anger. This went on for years, and the biggest tragedy is that Vi never got the chance to find Powder earlier and tell her that she still loves her. It is so sad, but at the same time, absolutely brilliantly done by the show.
Btw, the "fun" Jinx persona who does not take any responsibility and who does cruel things all the time, she got all of that from Silco. So much for all of these folks saying that he was trying to be a father who cared for her...

Yes. Many people seem to misunderstand Silco's phrase (Jinx included, but that's bc she has abandonment issues) *"Is there anything so undoing as a daughter?"*
Silcos love for Jinx undoes everything he stands for. He gives up his dream of independence and respect (the creation of Zaun) for his daughter.
Silco's scene in Vander's statue is to show how his character came full circle, he *now* understands why Vander stopped fighting to keep his Kids safe Vi (Powder, and the boys), and why he couldn't give Vi to Piltover, now that Silco was put in a similar position, when Jayce demanded for Jinx to be handed to Piltover, he realized he can't and won't give his daughter to Piltover, which is why he said to Vander's statue *"I understand now, brother."* In the past he didn't understood Vander because he (Silco) didn't have anyone to loose, but now that he has a daughter and was placed in a similar position, *he understands Vander now.* Now Silco has someone that he loves more than his dreams for a free Zaun... That's Silco's character arc

Where he wasn't trying to have her return to a "helpless sister, traumatized by a sick madman who did terrible things to her", where Vi thinking to Jinx forgot the family, she never did, why "Remember Vander, mom and dad and the others" didn't flash back to POSITVE memories, but shocking and traumatizing moments that always haunted Jinx, where I feel Silco was there to prevent her from reverting and affirm that she overcame that, while Vi's guilt over leaving her sister to get murdered, HAD to affirm that Silco was a treacherous murderer, just like Vander HAD to believe he was to the point of betraying AND trying to Kill Silco, only to regret his actions. Where Silco was the bigger man, because he forgave Vander, he believed the sergeant's words that Vi was dead, that he trusted his no.2 AND even give his board of directors a 2nd chance to stay loyal, so many qualities, where the ONLY negative one was straight up, just the shimmer. That's where I feel so many had to say he was evil after that, but fact is, it was no different than Ekko killing the smugglers, Vi refusing negotiations. Where I feel Jinx was ALWAYS there, because of the break moment before she believed she could help, it was always there.

I'm not saying he's a bad person for either (he's still a bad person, but not for that), I'm saying he's also traumatized and living in an era without any concept of mental health so he couldn't see how Vi was different from Vander and all he had to give Jinx was his unhealthy coping mechanisms. He tried to help, but in the long run he just made her worse. The thing about generational trauma is that it doesn't need to involve abuse, because it is terrifyingly easy to hurt a child even if you love them.

@@Violet2148 Tell me, if a tool is broken, you'd replace it correct? If something was causing you more damage than help, you would get rid of it... Silco did care for Jinx, perhaps not in the beginning, but who would? What reason would you have to care for someone who just blew up your work and clearly has nothing else? However, he did grow to care for her as evidenced by the fact he didn't immediately go for the deal. He never got aggressive with her, even when she was stabbing a needle into his face. He never betrayed or belittled her. He only tried to make her stronger in the only way he knew how. If that isn't care, I don't know what is. He risked his entire business and future for her. So really I think you have misread his character. I mean, Vander was a murderer, he betrayed Silco, he was playing both sides of the city to keep a peace that could never last... And in the end, died for nothing. He saved a child, that ultimately, caused more damage than good. But it is clear that he also cared for the children. Even if he let the undercity become complacent in their rotten lot, rather than have them strive to be better. What you described is a character flaw, not a lack of care.

"Don`t cry, You`re Perfect...". Yeah, yeah... right, she`s fucking destroyed, annihilated, completely and irrevocably lost her soul, that insane scream when she launches a rocket confirmes that, i think they made it audible through the song for this purpose, because we don`t even hear the scream of Caytlin, despite she lost her mother and... maybe even Jayce, Vi`s voice inaudible too, despite she understand that her sister is completely gone. Jinx don`t even have anyone or anything to come back to. Violet can`t accept her and love her anymore, Silco`s dead, all of the Piltover wants to tear her to pieces and eat her alive now, Ekko hates her and maybe even will try to kill her next time. I can`t fucking imagine what she is capable of right now, can`t wait for S2 and see how Riot Games will play it out.
My APOLOGIES for my english for those who`ll read it. It`s not my native and I wrote it fast, because i tired of reading everyone crying about Silco and what a good father he was and how much he loved her, i think yeah, he loved her, but in his special perverse sense. He manipulated her multiple times to get what he wanted and hold her in the same time, he lied about Vi came here only for the stone, i`m sure he truly understood why she came back and lied to Jinx directly in her eyes, because he was afraid to loose her. I personally think Silco had a hand in Jinx`s creation as much as Vi did. I assume i can be wrong, but i saw it this way, and i personally don`t like Silco at all.

First of all, that's the father's love. Vander did the same manipulation thing to stop Vi from causing trouble. They both loved their child just with different parenting. Do you think Vi likes it to not fight and sacrifice his own father? NO! that's why she went to help him. There is no right or wrong, Manipulation happens all the time because the characters think "it's the right thing to do at the time. It's the most reasonable thing" They are both fathers. Silco in the end has every father characteristic Vandar has. It was just a different approach.
Second of all. Many people seem to misunderstand Silco's phrase (Jinx included, but that's bc she has abandonment issues) "Is there anything so undoing as a daughter?"
Silcos love for Jinx undoes everything he stands for. He gives up his dream of independence and respect (the creation of Zaun) for his daughter.
Silco's scene in Vander's statue is to show how his character came full circle, he now understands why Vander stopped fighting to keep his Kids safe Vi (Powder, and the boys), and why he couldn't give Vi to Piltover, now that Silco was put in a similar position, when Jayce demanded for Jinx to be handed to Piltover, he realized he can't and won't give his daughter to Piltover, which is why he said to Vander's statue "I understand now, brother." In the past he didn't understood Vander because he (Silco) didn't have anyone to loose, but now that he has a daughter and was placed in a similar position, he understands Vander now. Now Silco has someone that he loves more than his dreams for a free Zaun... That's Silco's character arc
✔Vander stopped fighting to protect his Kids from the dangers of war.
✔Silco was ready to start a war if he had to to keep his daughter (Jinx) safe, away from Piltover's hands.

So no, totally disagree, even Jinxed said it herself, Vi's is the one who made Jinxed all along. Even at the ending when she gave her chances to make her powder again. Silco saved Jinxed mentally and physically from fatal death. Jinxed wouldn't be as strong as she is without Silco, she would have suicide or died without Silco's help. Silco was like a father who spoiled her child, letting her do whatever she want. Jinx was already Jinx because of Vi, not Silco. You could say Silco made Jinx the way she is by bad parenting which is letting her do whatever she wants but not by manipulating or anything. All blame is to Vi. For being a fking trash sister. Vi chose to love Cathlyin more than Jinxed, Silco would kill anyone to save jinxed. The love is different, and even tho in the end when Silco was pointing the gun and Vi's, The last bit of Powder in Jinxed, saved Vi. She killed Silco, her own father for her sister because she loved Vi so much. Vi is a fucking trash sister who abandoned her sister countless of time.

@@love4maymay95 No. You can see in the scene itself, Jinx, for a split second, thinks Silco is about to shoot *her* and mistakenly defends herself, only to find that Silco was trying to shoot VI to protect Jinx from VI *yet again* driving Jinx deeper into her torment.
VI failed at every turn to accept her sister again, even believing Jinx had gone so far as cut off Caitlin's head. VI never truly believed in her sister, when it came time to prove it as kids, she went back on her word. When it came time to protect her, he instead abused her, and when it came time to prove it in this scene, all VI wanted is the version of her sister she could push around yet again. Never accepting her sister as she is, neither then nor now.
Silco was the only one that ever accepted Jinx for who she was, and in Every. Single. Scene. between Jinx and Silco, it is Silco that is able to quiet the voices in Jinx's head. So much so that Jinx had a happy childhood with him, and flourished under his care.
So many people can't let go of Silco being the antagonist of the show that they fail to even recognize that he could be a stellar father at the same time. His phenomenal work at raising Jinx and giving her a happy life are etched on every surface of his office.
Jinx and Powder are NOT seperate identities!
Jinx and Powder are simply names. VI uses "Powder" because she only wants to see and accept her younger sister.
Jinx and Silco use Jinx because Silco taught Jinx to rise above what those that hurt you want to see, and to grow despite it.
In her own words: "Silco didn't make Jinx. *You did* ."
She does not have multiple personalities. The "voices" in Jinx's head are a haunting memory on repeat, not MPD.
Jinx is just the name she uses now because she changed, and flourished as a result and the final scene was a test to see who truly accepted her, who truly loved her and VI failed, Silco succeeded, risked everything to prove and protect it, and paid for it with his life.

It was so sad to watch the end. I felt many different emotions, like sadness and anger with Powder turning to Jinx and becoming even worse and it was even sadder with Violet knowing it is too late to help her sister. It is all Silco’s fault. He tried to spill blood and do harm to others. He separated the two sisters as children and manipulated Powder, did harm to her by making her a monster, a killer. It wasn’t Vi’s “abandonment” that changed Powder, it was Silco’s lies and decisions, because Vi would have come back to her sister, and eventually, would have forgiven her, not her actions, but her as a person, if it wasn’t for him.
