Digging deeper with the Nicoletta Ceccoli Tarot Deck

  • Knowing a little about the artist herself and actually knowing the titles of her prints gives a lot of insight to the cards in both her tarot and upcoming oracle decks. Her titles are usually a humorous or witty way to explain or even deepen the mystery of her prints. I hope you enjoy it, K Cris! I'm sorry it's so long! I did mistakenly call the 4 of cups the 4 of wands towards the end and Nicoletta's comment on the title of another's artists painting was of a pipe, not a pen and it was titled "This Is Not A Pipe." I mistakenly called "Georgina Tames The Dragon" the 5 of Swords at one point when it's actually the 5 of Wands. Also, I didn't mention that the reason I think the letters being sent off by the King of Swords are love letters to his family is because the card comes from the print "Love Letters". Also, the 6 of Cups is named "Eva". 💜

    I'm watching this for the second time now! There is so much information and insight in this video. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. I loved looking at your art images and your Journal! so inspiring! I wish that the titles of the paintings are included in the guidebook of the tarot and Oracle that's kind of a pity because it definitely does give a nice perspective of the images. This was a fantastic video I really really enjoyed it. Thank you so much for your time and dedication XOXO

      Maha's Treasure box Thank you for leaving such a sweet comment, it means more to me than you know but honestly I'm so glad that you made your video before you saw mine because it was fascinating to hear your perspective. I agree that it's a shame the titles aren't included but your insight into her art lines up with the names very well and it was a joy to watch. I made this video specifically for a friend who asked me to do this for her and it's been surprising to me to see such awesome responses, it's actually my most watched video. I think that great art brings about great discussions, whether you're a fan or not. â€ïžđŸ˜˜

    In replying to Elizren's comment something hit me, I can't speak for anyone else but this deck is comforting to me because at a young age I had to come to terms with some of the harsher aspects of this deck. Things that children should not have to face, especially at such a young age age. In order to survive. I had to be able to incorporate it into myself and not see myself as a victim or play the part of a victim in any way. What some may see as disturbing, I see as kinship. I was there. That is why I feel it is a deck that can cause distress to someone who isn't prepared for the reactions that some of the cards can elicit. As I stated in my video, is is rare for any of the girls to be portrayed as victims, their strength shows through time after time. Harsh and disturbing, yes, but also relevant. Beautiful girls in horrific scenes who sometimes fantasize about turning tables? For me, this is a deck for survivors.

      +Nina Strandlod if you mean the journals I've made that are from Staples and I use the Arc disk system. It's super easy and you just pick the rings and covers you want and they also sell all sorts of accessories. I of course had to take it further and make my own cover with the Fleetwood Mac working journal out of an old album cover that was missing the album.

      Wow, you'll have to tell me how you get on with it! I would suggest getting one more deck that is a little more traditional since you are still learning the cards. Not to dissuade you at all, there are no rules but I know that I started with a more complicated deck (Motherpeace) and some of the core meanings didn't really stick until I started using a more traditional deck about 10 years into my tarot journey. That being said, yeah I know, this deck is my soul deck and I just love it.❀

    Thank you for sharing these images, the "larger pictures", with us! After watching this, I have finally decided that my initial urge to trim the tarot deck completely off their titles and make it a free flowing oracle is the right urge for me. Not that their tarot associations are not good ones necessarily. But it felt more and more than the images have so much more to say outside of the boundaries of the tarot structure. I often feel this way with decks using pre-existing artwork. For this reason I tend to avoid them. But I like her artwork a lot, so I ordered the deck when it first came out. It is time to trim it I think ;)

    • @veronicajude
      @veronicajude  Pƙed 7 lety +1

      Several people have done that and it makes the deck much more workable for them, I get that. I feel the same with most decks made of pre-existing artwork, this was the only one that I just knew the cards almost immediately and didn't need the titles even using it within the tarot structure.

    Greetings veronica jude, I just received this deck, bought it for shadow/innerchild work. Evidently I didn't know what I was getting into when I bought it...needless to say that I clicked with it right away, it is one of my favored, so far...I guess I shall consider myself a "survivor". Your video is one of the most interesting so far on this topic, and I absolutely love your Tarot journals and your artwork collection is mesmerizing. If you haven't found someone just yet, to translate some things in Italian, feel free to let me know, I happen to know the language; indeed, one of the reason I clicked so much and so fast with the Ceccoli tarot is because, for some reason, the artwork speaks Italian to me even without the symbols or the book...I can see why many people decide to trim the borders out and just do their own free interpretations...it is a deck that honors "free out of the box thinkers!" Thank you for sharing your beautiful collection!

I now have both Nicoletta Ceccoli's decks here with me the Tarot and the Oracle, I even bought the mini version of the Tarot (couldn't pass that), I bond with them right away, it's like having your best friend with you 24/7; they're very communicative and clear. They do not lie or sugar coat anything, aside from all those candies and toys in her art work. I saw some of Nicoletta's books for sale, and the rest of her art work and it is impossible not to fall in love with her art work and her for of self expression, it is meant to stimulate deep reflections and healing responses on those who may connect with it, at the very least some clarity and understanding. Great video, I enjoyed your ramble :) Would you consider doing a proper review of the oracle deck? I did not get it in pre-order, and now it has been out of stock for so long, and I sooo want to see all the cards :) You also made me trim my tarot completely, and i love it, even though I resisted for so long (I did like the nice borders on this) but I am also ordering another copy with the titles :) I love this deck, because it is so thought provoking, and actualy in my opinion there is nothing sexually weird in the cards themselves, it is just the people projecting a lot of stuff onto them. And I find that very interesting, shows aspects of people's thinking, that are usually never spoken of. I have also had, let's say, unpleasant experiences, when I was young, and for me this deck is more empowering and healing than offensive.

      I understand when people have a strong connection, or even aversion to this deck. I went through some of the oracle cards but now that the deck is in I'd be happy to show it, there are a couple of flip throughs out there that I found as well. I'm glad you like your deck trimmed, I have a few copies trimmed different ways. I showed the one with no titles but you can also just trim the sides and leave the titles so it opens up the images a little but keeps the titles. I probably always have one deck set back unopened for when I lose one or I've even given a certain card to someone every once in a while.

    I watched this because Owlmoon513 mentioned it in one of her videos and while I like Ceccoli’s art, I never really got into buying her Oracle or tarot until I watched this video. It made me connect with the art and the meanings better and I’m watching this again because I bought the Oracle. I think of Hannah Fury, Melanie Martinez and the American McGee Alice games when looking at Ceccoli’s art which makes me adore/connect to it more

    I've suddenly become obsessed with this deck, and I would *love* to get the art books, but for the time being they are a bit too pricey (especially once you include international shipping). But seeing you go through them has really helped me to get a much better insight into the deck!Waiting for the oracle now, too :-)

    Ok, I've been thinking about this video a LOT in the past week. Can we talk about HOW you print off those "decks"? Do you use your own printer? And your tarot journals! HOW? WHAT? Would you be willing to do a video on them? I've been obsessed with Arc since I saw this! Thanks!!

    • @veronicajude
      @veronicajude  Pƙed 7 lety +1

      Rori Rants I could do another journal video, sure. Those decks were made of simply printing out screenshots that I cropped onto photo paper. Most of the things in my journals were printed on my personal printer, a Cannon I think.
      The Arc system is amazing! You can make your own covers and I absolutely love being able to move papers around within a journal or even moving them to different journals. I got everything including the paper punch, paper and discs at Staples but I do use the Levenger system with it because they work together very well.

    Hi! You can manually type the italian script on translate.google.com so you can read the English version. I'm also trying to look for her books but most are in Italian so I guess this is how I'll go about it. Thank you for your passion and doing all this work. I thought that if you're happy doing your work then you'll never have to work for the rest of your life. I really felt that this would be such hard work for me but you put so much energy into this and helped me a lot understand the deck mo, so thank you...

      You'd be surprised at how many people don't get the Hey Jude reference! I just made a video where I showed different kinds of journals I've made but as usual it's a hot mess and I'm going to feel like the Queen of the Dorks putting it up but what the hell. You'll see that I mainly use the Levenger or Arc disc system with most of my journals and I have to print everything out because I may be crafty but I can't even draw stick people so to me, my journals aren't artistic like most of the ones I see online, they are either study journals or collections of art and different tarot decks.

    Is there any site where I can understand what does Nicoletta Ceccoli artwork meaning? Example: wowxwow.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/NCeccoli-Contrary-Mary.jpg
    I don't understand her artworks but it is beautiful, is there any way that I can understand the meaning behind it

    • @veronicajude
      @veronicajude  Pƙed 6 lety

      Aside from showing the names my understanding of her art would come from my knowledge from tarot and not the artist herself. I clicked the link and the image of Contrary Mary was used for the Queen of Wands and any associations for me would be linked to what I feel and know about that certain card. Actually, If you google her name for interviews you can read more about her process and background and I found her interviews to be very enlightening.

      Theresa Ugalde Oh, I mostly use regular photo paper. I often make decks out of photo paper because they hold up very well even with a lot of use. Those lovely oracle cards - how did you make them?

    • @veronicajude
      @veronicajude  Pƙed 7 lety +1

      I have a habit of printing out my favorite things onto photo paper, that's basically it. There were a lot of Nicoletta cards that I didn't show because I was concentrating on the ones in her tarot and oracle decks. But like I said, I also buy anything from the artists that I can but making those "art deck" cards have always been a favorite creative outlet of mine.

    • @Elizren
      @Elizren Pƙed 7 lety +1

      I love what you did, I just wondered if you used the web images or free domain images or you scanned from your books or cards and also if you have a laser printer because the result is perfect. I love that deck but some of her is a bit harsh and freaks me out.

    • @veronicajude
      @veronicajude  Pƙed 7 lety +1

      +Elizren actually it was a little bit of all of that and I don't have a laser printer, I just went old school.
      I understand what you are saying about the deck, it really isn't for everyone which is why it's not the main deck I carry around with me anymore to whip out when I'm in bars, restaurants or festivals and am meeting new people. I have been through childhood trauma but this deck feels very healing to me and I honestly don't see or focus on the harsher parts of the image but others can have a very emotional reaction from just seeing the cards. It's a very healing deck but depending on where you are in the healing process it can cause a multitude of reactions. For those of us who love the deck or are trying to connect with it more I was hoping to deepen their understanding by sharing what I know about Nicoletta and how her titles play a big part in the meaning or motive behind the images. I'm actually surprised at the number of responses I've received in one day!

    • @Elizren
      @Elizren Pƙed 7 lety +1

      Oh don't get me wrong, I am in love with the deck, in fact it resonates with me on many levels, since I work in mental health focus job, the places this card goes is deep into the psyche and that is disturbing sometimes, I love the rabbits, that is my Chinese Zodiac

    • @veronicajude
      @veronicajude  Pƙed 7 lety

      +Elizren it was obvious that you love the deck, watching my ramble is enough to show that! :-) Your words were simply a catalyst that made all these little things click for me and it gave me such a simple and yet glaring reason why I've always been attracted to her art, why it stood out over all the other artists that I even showed in this video. It was an intensely personal insight that I just felt like sharing because I'm sure I'm not the only one who connects for the same reasons I do. That's tarot, a beloved deck is loved for a myriad of reasons.
