  • This is just a video of different study journals I've made as well as some tarot card comparison art books. I also make art books out of certain decks that I like to look at but never read with. Most of the journals use the Levenger disc system or the Arc disc system (from Staples). I wish I had the artistic ability to draw and paint beautiful journals but I don't, so this is how I have to roll.

    Even though I'm watching this many years later, I truly applaud your emphasis on journaling. I think that is the only way to "own" the cards. I take my cards to a copier, reduce then down about half, and as I draw a card I cut and tape it in my journal.. I use tape so that I can do exactly what you do, flip the card and write on it. Even though I have my card in miniature, I always journal with the actual card held in my hand; it's an energy thing! Blessing to all

    Such amazing journals. Very inspirational and a wonderful way to display decks while they aren't used❤❤❤. I also love to compare cards of different decks to get a deeper meaning of the card theme.😄

      Thank you, the card comparison journals were invaluable with that. I absorbed so much just in making them but pouring over them afterwards just helped build up that internal encyclopedia in my head. All of it, the different decks, quotes and sayings I gathered, it all just deepens each of the cards for me. I think that's part of the craftsmanship in being a reader, at least it is for me, forever adding connections while still staying true to what the traditional meanings mean to me.

      Lol, I do the same thing with my favorite tarot videos! I even find myself talking back to the screen.😆 And I remember being so excited that there were people who were as insane about tarot journals as I was, you have no idea. I spent years all by myself thinking I was nuts for being so obsessive about these notebooks that I poured hours into that no one else would ever see.... and then I discovered this community and found a bunch of people just like me. I’ll always be thankful for finding my tribe. Oh, and that first notebook was a moleskin, just like the very first mini one I added so many inserts that it became three times the size it was meant to be but it worked! Now that I mostly use the Arc system I don’t have that problem but I’ll admit that my old school journal will always be the OG. ❤️😘😘😘😘

    I envy the passion you clearly have had for learning the decks. I sometimes find myself frustrated with the density of my own physical brain. I feel like I should know this stuff already, and yet, my physical brain hasn't found a way to access the information from the ether to make readings more fluid. I suppose that's kind of why we use the cards in the first place, huh? That was just a "Duh" moment for me. =P

    I love what you did with the silver BoGo and Mary El!!! I read with my Mary El but BoGo isn't speaking to me so far so you are giving me some ideas there!!! Being in the tarot closet is tedious with always being too afraid to leave traces of any tarot activities outside of the World Wide Web :/ I have also been trying to figure out how to keep decks in order for study purposes on ring binders without having to punch holes through them and without having to lug around a large thing. The photo corners are something I haven't thought about so thanks for that. So far I have been looking at board game cards sleeves and it is hard to find the right sizes! This video has given me food for thoughts with regards to exploring other options! Thanks Veronica!

    • @veronicajude
      @veronicajude  Před 8 lety

      I am so happy that it gave you some inspiration! Those decks that I made into "art books" just make so much sense to me and i like the fact that some decks I would never really use look so good in book form.
      I know all about the tarot closet, I'm taking huge steps just making these videos but I made a decision to do this and be real and I know that may mean blow back eventually but the past few weeks have shown me that I'm doing what's right for me. All of these notebooks, all of these years and no one had seen any of it except for my husband and best friend. My parents know that I'm a professional reader but we don't really talk about it because I know it worries and probably scares them. I was raised southern baptist and would never want to throw things in my family's face that would break their hearts but this is me. I do my best to keep it separate but I know that putting myself out there like this I'm risking everything that I've kept completely to myself my entire adult life. I have a voice and I have a calling, the Judgement card can only be ignored for so long. Wish me luck. 😘

    • @NobodyHere
      @NobodyHere Před 8 lety +1

      All the best with being who you truly are! I do believe my issue is more self-perception than anything else. Others around me are kind and very open minded. Some might be judgemental and would think that I have completely lost my mind. But I have taken paths less traveled before and my actualized-self triumphed and prosper nevertheless through all the finger wagging and eye rolling. But I believed in those choices, and in my conviction was firm. Which is not so with tarot, yet :)

    Hello Veronica. Your journals are so creative and beautiful!! Could you write down the website you mentioned for sheets? Also, I am originally from Italy. Italian is my native language. If you want me to translate anything from the Nicoletta Ceccoli art books let me know. Great video!

      Thank you, that is so sweet of you! The Italian book has huge pages and I can't of an easy way to do that but I love and appreciate the offer. 💜
      You can find the supplies for my journals that use the disc system at Levenger.com or staples.com and the page punch from either company would work because their systems are compatible. The scrapbook journals, pager and sheet protectors should be on any large craft site that offers scrapbook paper (it's larger square paper) and scrap booking supplies. I'm glad you enjoyed my videos and I appreciate leaving such a nice comment! :-)

      maria preston Homeschooling UK Wow, thank you for leaving such a great comment!! I'm glad to hear you have started a journal yourself, you'll find it extremely valuable and such a great personal reference!! How long did it take for me to feel like I had it down and knew my stuff? Well, my readings were actuate from the start but I always used my journal during a reading for the first few years. I read differently though, I was militant about not getting the cards mixed up in my head. When I didn't need the journal that was a turning point, but then there was another when I felt I finally understood the courts and then another when I started reading for strangers I would meet in a pub. I remember the days when 78 cards seemed overwhelming but eventually it becomes natural, and even then you are constantly reaching new levels, it depends a lot on how serious you are about learning the cards and how often you put the cards into practice. I do have several more journals that I could show, thank you for the suggestion and I would love to hear how yours is turning out as you go along! ❤️😊

    • @mariaprestonHomeschoolingUK
      @mariaprestonHomeschoolingUK Před 7 lety +1

      I would love to see al your journals ,even more inspiration ... and I am very serious about learning the tarot I did want to become a master at it some day , but first I want to just learn tarot and the best way to do that , I have had tarot in my life for ages now but I was kinda at a dead end as I hadn't had the time to actually do much for my self in the way of learning the tarot as having a family takes up all my time and now in my 40s and 6 kids later , 3 grandkids later / plus having cancer in my life also set me back abit as what I had learned all got lost after cancer treatment.... I was bit forgetful ten years ago now .
      I think I actually understand myself better and know this is what I want for myself. so here I am, I already have 12 tarot decks one of which I'm in the middle of making myself , getting to know the cards again is first priority so thats why I started a journal after watching your videos it just made everything click in place , I suppose the push in the right direction was all I needed .
      Thankyou for your videos and do hope you make more as I will watch it a hundred times ..
      also I brought a tarot course from benebell wen and her book the holistic tarot ,to help with this , so I can take it slowly and do what I can to learn .have you any advice at all for me...
      Thanks again for taking the time to read and reply.

      maria preston Homeschooling UK Good for you, having come so far and done so much!! If you have a love of the cards and a desire to learn them, you will be fine. :-) my decks are a great comfort to me, just like comfort books that I love. If I feel like handling the cards but there is no need for a reading I'll just flip the cards and have an ongoing "conversation" or most likely play solitaire. Other people do "readings" for on celebrities or fictional characters for practice. I really appreciate your feedback and I'm looking forward to making more videos! I have my own ups and downs so make videos whenever I can. Always make me think of that saying telling you to make hay while the sun shines. :-) ❤️

      Deanta PT I'll put that on my list, I did different things for different journals. Mostly I scanned my favorite decks but I have to admit I used a crazy amount of ink for some of them. The ones where I used the actual cards I used photo tabs that I got at Michaels craft store so that I could take the deck out and be able to use them if I wanted to. Ok -- so the second journal that you referred to as a "hot mess" is more like what MY tarot journal looks like!!! LOL! I LOVE an overstuffed book! That second little book that was overstuffed from 20 years ago is delicious as well! I LOVE that!!! I can't believe you managed to hang on to it after so much time. *needle rips the vinyl* Wait a minute -- your best friend said "when" we need to prove that you're "crazy"?!? Wow. No. No way. Nothing about that-- or about the way you are -- could possibly prove that you are somehow not okay. That sounds mean. Your tone tells me you weren't okay with what she said, either. I'm so sorry she said that to you.
    On the other hand, my "best friend" said things like that to me 20 years ago, too, because she could be really manipulative and I found out years after I'd lost touch that she has had some serious mental health issues over the years since I knew her. I hope that comment from your friend was in the long past. UGH. Sorry, Veronica -- the protective part of me just rose up ready to defend you and crush your accuser. Here you make this beautiful book full of wisdom, knowledge, self-reflection, and work on your own self-realization. . .only for someone you trust to tell you that it proves what a fragile state of mind you have and never to get rid of it because it could be used to prove that you're not balanced if you needed a defense in court. What a meanie. I can't stand for people who need to put down someone else's creativity and uniqueness because of their own insecurity.
    Anyway -- I really appreciate your nerdy side! Thank you for sharing your journaling techniques and old journals with us!!! I put up two videos of some of the art books I've made with eco prints, but I keep thinking I should do one with the planners i was making up until this year. I might give up and make a mid-year planner or journal of some kind for myself yet. . .I don't know. Had a job at the end of last year that required a LOT more careful planning and organizing than I'm used to, and I had some serious glitches in my ADD meds, so I ended up with a commercial planner to simplify things. *eye roll*. It's beautiful and functional. . .and I'm using it because it works and I have it. Meh. In the mean time, I'm really missing engaging with a yummy book that makes me smile and feel like I"m connecting with a friend every time I open it.

      Oh I definitely understand your love of journals, they have been a constant source of joy and inspiration for me! You are so sweet to be concerned about my besties comment but believe me, she knows me better than anyone and has always had my back.... through thick and thin and I’m lucky to have her. She was mostly joking, I mean, it does look like the work of a mad man. 😂😂😂 I’m fortunate enough to have a small group of Bitchachos that I can always count on. There are four of us who spent so much time together in my 30’s (they are all a little younger than me) that we became family and even though we are more spread out now and have busy families we always make time to connect and spend time together. I did have a friend like the one you described and believe me, I have no problem cutting someone loose if they make me feel “less than”. Thanks again for looking out for me though. 🖤😘😘😘

      Most of them are just scanned and printed out but a few of the last ones were the actual deck and I used photo triangle tabs to keep them in place, that way I can pop them out if I want to. The notebooks get thick just with the scanned image on regular paper, you're right, using the actual decks makes the book pretty thick!

    veronica, which punch are you using for your discbound papers ? (because you seem to be able to punch through thin cardboard as well as paper)

      Yara Tarot Hi! I use both the Arc and Levenger disc systems which are interchangeable. The Arc system you can find at Staples or Www.staples.com and it's cheaper than the Levenger system but Levenger has a lot of different options. The Levenger website is www.levenger.com and it's called the disc system is called Circa. I hope that helps! :-)

      It cracks me up that you have to comment your own video just for me because of your dick iPad! 😂I LOVE this!! Your journals 🙌🏻 Omg! Journal goals! Totally drooling over these. Crafty but not artistic is me too, for sure. I want to be in your brain. Love your court associations and can't wait for your deck which I hope you do a guidebook for. You know I love me some guidebooks. So glad we are both queen of cups. You always have the best stuff for that card. Jung quote was on point! You're too hard on yourself. This video is amaze-balls! I feel like we are the same person in so many ways which is great because we come at things so differently in other ways. Makes it even more fabulous.

      What are those journals with the thick black ring bindings? I need those in my life. Did you just print and bind yourself? Goddamn, they are so pretty! I love the ones you made just for art books too. Stunning!

      My husband has told me for years that I need to write a book about my take on the cards and the courts especially but I kept telling him that I was just copying information down to learn it. I have tons of study journals I made while I was trying to work out the court system. Now that I've been using my system for a few years I feel as if I could write my take on them, not enough for a book but enough for a kick ass companion guide for my deck! ;-). Those journals you like are all disc bound systems, Levenger is higher end but they are also compatable with the Arc system you can get at Staples. I also bought the paper stamp at staples, you just punch the paper and you can insert them in any of your journals.
      I so get what you mean about how alike and how different we are, that's the way it is with all of the favorite people in my life. 💜
      Holy shit this video is making me dizzy. I swear if I hadn't already promised no deleting, this video would be disappearing right now. And why in the hell would I even show that tiny, crazy as hell first journal of mine?!

      Clearly everyone loved every journal you showed off including that baby beginning one. 😍 I also think you have so much more knowledge than you give yourself credit for. Yes, it's traditional but your perspective is very unique. I can't wait to see what you put out to the world. Seriously, drooling over these journals. I'll have to go to staples and start doing this. Oh, and the video wasn't "shaky" it was excited and passionately swift. 😜 The Blair Witch was shaky. Can't wait to see more from you.
