Daniel & Johnny definitely have more a bromance than adversary relationship. They will fight in season 2 but I dare you to find me brothers that never threw hands. In high school these guys couldn’t be more opposite but it looks as though years they are quite similar in their attitudes.
Remember how when Johnny replied with "ask your daughter" and Daniel tried to promptly dismiss him, it shows exactly how much Daniel's social status has gotten to his head because it sounds like he is not willing to accept the courage of his convictions. Luckily Amanda does and confronted Sam about it later and Johnny turned out to be right.

It was a hill and Danny partially earned that beating for spraying him with water.
Ken Zhang - Daniel sprayed Johnny after he was thrown down the hill, so you could say that Johnny earned what he got for that criminal act, one that could have killed Daniel. There's really no comparison. And then again the retribution didn't match the crime. Johnny got wet. In retaliation Johnny (in a 5-on1) beat Daniel to a pulp. The Kai were unequivocally the bullies.
I'm not a Johnny apologist and I don't exactly remember the chain of events, so thanks. And I did say he partially earned it. Obviously it was in no way fair.

There was actually no credibile evidence linking the cars arson; however, Amanda larusso wasn't liking his cousin Louies shanigans so it's good johnny got a better car out of it.
Basically danny should have demanded proof of the arson damaged car before he gave johnny a new car

Not to mention i dont think anyone would believe johnny would show up with the attitude he did without thinking he was telling the truth. Also i believe Danial was trying to avoid a legal issue. SInce the torching was done by a Larusso auto employee, in his name.

It seems to me that the most salient point here is something I'm not seeing mentioned. The part where Daniel says "choose" is an inversion of the scene in the original movie where Mr. Miyagi says to him "choose." Referring to one of HIS many cars.

Nikos Alexandropoulos yeah, I think that's why Daniel was really digging his heels in about the car, and tried to pick a fight with him before that. On some deep level Daniel is secretly enjoying sparring with Johnny mentally and verbally because his life is so incredibly boring and unsatisfying. Johnny being around gives Daniel a convenient excuse to act out and be more honest.
Daniel provoked Johnny for sure by trying to shut down Cobra Kai.

There is a factual error when Danny suggests he take the Subaru that Johnny refers to as a Forester is actually an Outback.
Or maybe that's just the randomness of life being presented in the show? People don't know everything and are prone to the occasional mistake. I'd say it's more inaccurate that they never have to pause to think of what say or that they never misspeak, mumble, or slur their words....
