I agree to some extent because sometimes when the happiness of one of the characters solely depends on the love interest it’s pretty problematic because so much weight is on the love interest and it turns from love into like a strong one-sided dependency.

I love them to an extent because usually books with this trope usually involve a love interest that has some sort of disease or chronic illness which I enjoy but find a little bit strange to see in so many stories. When it involves someone a love interest that is like moving somewhere else I enjoy so much.

enemies/rivals to lovers, bodyguard romance and star crossed lovers (only when it's done right!) are legit my fav! I have a penchant for like "forbidden" stuff but NOT in a teacher/student or cheating way (gross those are just plain gross i will never forgive people for romantcizing cheating) but more of a dude hiding in an all girls school sort of thing or im ur bodyguard i cant love u sort of thing. Makes me heart flutter 🥰
unpopular opinion: i LOVE the unplanned pregnancy trope. idk if its my trauma manifesting (it probably is), but something about seeing a guy do the absolute bare minimum and step up to be a father (and eventually husband) just hits the spot for me yk? its fucked up but i love it.

I love the “smart-serious character who hates cocky-mischievous/sarcastic character but after some time they realise they have grown into them” kind of trope (for example Rollan and Meilin. They are a mix of bad boy/good girl, rivals to lover, and poor boy/rich girl which are my favourite tropes)

For good boy bad girl I would recommend 'As far as the starts by Virginia macerator' its such a gate and emotional book, the girl isn't really that bad she is just a bit defensive and tough headed, but the lead male character is such a sweetheart

Im writing a good boy/ bad girl trope book right now im so excited!! I've been working really hard on it i made sure to add unexpected plot twists and to hint it in the subtlest way as possible. I really want it to be well written and unexpected but also cliche at the same time. Although its more like perfect nice guy/ screw up, cool, bad girl. She's the most hated person but that's just because nobody knows the reason why she do the things she does. Im writing many many advanced chapters before i publish it on wattpad so that i dont keep my reader waitng for updates. I make sure to spend as much time as i need to make every chapter perfect. I really hope it goes well.

bad girl (no matter the boy) is my favorite trope and im also always looking for books with it, one of my faves is misbehaving by abbi glines, it's the sixth book in the sea breeze series and the only one i loved, you could read it on its own but i think you would like some of the others in the series.
it was a very popular series back in the day but im not sure i've heard you talk about it so if you haven't read i would recommend to at least check that one.

i agree! i'd also love to read a book with a lovers > enemies > friends, like a more melancholial book. perhaps they could even start as friends and become lovers, but the more they find out about each other they more they find little things that they hate about each other but think they shouldn't hate, or the more they compete against each other until they become enemies. finally at the end they realise they could still love each other and maybe realise the bits of each other that they still love, but also realise they could never healthily love each other the same way as they thought they did before (but the feeling is mutual)

If you want a really good enemies to lovers (based off of your specifics) you should read The Cruel Prince (Folk of Air series). It’s so good!! The enemies to lover trope in it mixed in with all of the “I shouldn’t love them… but I do!” In both of the characters is AMAZING. It’s a fae book, I don’t know if you like fantasy fiction - but this series is amazing and definitely is a good fantasy fiction starter book

(Also, The Bennett Mafia by Tijan has a strong heroine, and the men do not devalue the women. I’ve read it 2-3 times.)

If I can recommend a love triangle book, it would be the Infernal Devices trilogy. It's so smart, heartbreaking and sweet. I love the boys, the heroine, the other characters and the time. It's just so perfect, everything fits.

Steph you should read "The happily ever after playlist" ! The guy is famous and he's a cinnamon roll for the girl and SHE DOESN'T KNOW HE'S FAMOUS WHILE FALLING FOR HIM! It reminded me of the old one direction fanfics but done perfectly. and there's an actual song for each chapter. Highly recommend.
