In this video I will be showing you how I make a hanging tea towel for your kitchen. Materials needed: A tea towel A pot holder A matching button Sewing machine ( if you have) Needle and thread
Thank you for this video. I have a suggestion that might make it a bit easier to sew the straight line across the potholder. Just draw a chalk or pencil line across the middle of the inside portion of the potholder. 😁
Aww, this is a cute idea. I was trying to think of something to make for my Grandmother with Alzheimers for Christmas and I think this will be it. Thank you for sharing your project.
I really enjoyed this video! It was theasiest Tutorial on how to make a hang on the oven towel. I have my supplies and will be starting soon to make them!! Thanks so much Heather.🥰
Thanks for t the lovely hanging kitchen towel idea. Just idea I've seen others make them by running large stitches down the middle of the towel leaving thread tails at both ends of towel & gather towel until the gather's r even. Then see the hot pad on to it from there. God bless you & he's.
Hey sweetie listen you can get a 100 of them clips for under ten and if you don’t need many I’ve seen them as cheap as 2 3 $ for like 20 of them and they come with a case and they even have bundles for dirt cheap and I get a lot of my stuff that’s been returned if you look at sewing stuff on there and even rulers nice ones that are just like new and cheaper then any place ! It’s crazy I love Walmart but. I shop around ya know ! Cause I don’t have the extra $ but hon also I hit like ! Sometimes we forget but some how them likes make a big difference ! Also you may not have time but you can also post places like Amazon and out a link and every bit counts too and you can amke a small amount for items regardless if you buy them where if you list the Amazon and it don’t cost us no more either ! Ty for all of the help Abd I live these !
Get you some sewing clips (you can get them very cheap on aliexpress or wish). or even some binder clips woo work. Another tip would be to get a marker that you an iron away to mark you center points. I know that the tea towels from the DT are just a $1.00 but young to walmart and picking up some towels that are much better quality.
The little buttons are good in the back of larger buttons it equalizes the pressure on the thread. Dollar Tree has a camel colored sets that would look lovely with the aqua colored buttons. Nifty idea.+++++ I stitch together 2 square pot-holders for 1 hand & use the mitt on my other hand.
These are so beautiful ! Ty so much I’ve been wanting to make my own but use the towel but I had no idea that you could use the pot holder like this ! Ty ty ty ! Liked and subscribed
Try enlarge your stitch per inch. It doesn't have to be so small. Try a 10 or 12 stitches per inch it should make it easier for you and fabric won't pull so much. The smaller the stitch the more pull on your fabric. I think the above is used for most sewing.
I seen some like yours at a store . I figured I could make them a hole lot cheaper .then a week later seen you on CZcams . Only thing different is the buttons are larger then there's . Thank you so much for sharing this video .
Just saw your video on how to make your hanging tea towel/pot holder. Thank you they came out really good. Can't wait to make some. Subscribed to your channel so I will be looking forward to more projects.
If you have a walking foot it would be easier to sew across the pot holder. Also clothes pins are something that will work. Dollar stores has them along with clips and binder clips. Love the way the tea towels came out!
I have a boat load of clips. I use them when binding my quilts. I bought the majority of them from Wish. Wish is hit or miss on their stuff, but the clips are a hit. I like this idea and will probably make some.
Very nice presentation....thank you...I am a new subscriber...looking forward to your upcoming videos. From Debbie and Dexter-Dog my amazing rescued Chihuahua companion living a quiet senior life in southern California. 🙏👍😁🎄🎅🌲
I love these. I bought a bunch of these when they had all the rosters with all the matching towels, hot pad and hot pad mitts. I am going to have to sew some up. Thanks for sharing your video with all of us. Great Job ❤️ New subscriber
I was a dollar tree today and I saw some of the clips you referred to, maybe ask your local store manager about them. I also watch quilting videos, and someone used binder clips to hold all the layers together :). I made these for my sister for Christmas
Great video... a little tip. Put a dot of tape or sticky note just under your camera, and look at it every so often. Where ever you're looking it makes it seem like your detached. 😊 keep up the good work!
I would only use 3 pins. On ends I would go on the inside of hems and one in the center. It shouldn't move. I hope this helps. Thanks for the idea it makes a great gift.
I don't sew often either but instead of flipping over to get right sides together? Maybe place potholder, right side up underneath towel, right side down after you have it folded to correct width. Then fold in half & pin towel through potholder instead of potholder through towel? Hope that makes sense? If I make some of these & try it that way? I will come back & let you know. Thanks for sharing. First time viewer. Love this idea! Merry Christmas!
So cute but take it from us Oldie Sewers, *Do not pin all that bulk. Use clips along the outside edges. *Lengthen the stitch to basting. It will look 'normal' when finished as the length is taken up going thru so much thickness. * REDUCE the number on pressure foot * DRAW the center sewing line w chalk, sewing pencil, or the sewing pen that comes out blotting with water or fades away by itself. * Try PLEATING the towel into BOX PLEATS to distribute the bulk HAPPY SEWING. I ❤ your idea!
Your thread will stop breaking if you lengthen your stitch a bit. 2.5 or even 3.0. Match it up to the stitches around your heat pad. This a really cute idea for sure.
Susan Arthur, I've never measured the buttons, I just use the largest ones that come in the bags or boxes from the dollar stores or Wal-Mart. I just did a quick measure and they seem to be between 1 to 1 1/4 inches🙂🙂
Little trick for pins that won't go threw... Run the pin carefully threw your hair close to the scalp.. it costs it with natural oils and they slide in much easier...
I make these and I just saw a lady draw a line down the middle of the pot holder , to help sew a straight line. This helped me immensely.
Thank you for showing us how to do this! Bless your heart for the trouble you went through to show us! Love it!
Great idea my friend with 💘🐾🐶👫🌹.

Bless your heart, I’m so sorry that you had to go through all of that trouble but, how cute.
Very cute and simple! I've never seen them made this way, but it's very clever! We always cut the towels in half and crochet on top for hanging.
I love how step by step you did this DIY. I LOVE THEM. thank you so much for this video.
Those will make great gifts
Clips will save your hands if you have arthritis too. Nice video. You will get better and better as you go along. Good luck to you
Aww, this is a cute idea. I was trying to think of something to make for my Grandmother with Alzheimers for Christmas and I think this will be it. Thank you for sharing your project.

If you r having trouble getting a needle to go thru fabric run the sharp end thru your hair, it
Oils and sharpens the pin.
Nice and so easy thank you
Make your stitches longer for thick sewing

I am not gathering any more towels, I like you way much better! Thanks!
Thank you for the great instructions! So pretty! Can’t wait to make them!❤️❤️❤️
Couldn’t you use clothes pins for the edges to hold it?
Cute oven towels.
Thank You for sharing they are so cute.❤

Pretty.
Cute idea! I get my clips from the thrift stores. Sometimes even fabric. I have some towels I want to make into these. No button holes!! Thank you!
Nice job.
I use a walking foot to sew the potholes on, it's made to sew thicker fabric. You wheez right thur.

I love the idea of this project this would be great Christmas gift
Love it! Thanks for sharing! Try the Clover flower head pins
They are really cute I'm going to make some for my family
that is real nice

Try using a walking foot on your sewing machine this will help with the material getting caught up on the feeder
Thank you you are great
Lovely tutorial. Now I know how to make them. I bought some 2 years ago, they are still waiting to be put together. Now I can, Thank you.
I know I am late watching this, but you can get some binder clips or hair clips at the Dollar Tree to use at the sides instead of pins.
Thanks for the tip
Pin or use tack spray before you flip. Binder clips hold edges great. When measuring just use the cutting mat ruler.
I don't sew often either but instead of flipping over to get right sides together?
Maybe place potholder, right side up underneath towel, right side down after you have it folded to correct width.

Merry Christmas!
Belíssima parabéns 👏🏽🌹💋
Beautiful
You need to increase the stitch length on your sewing machine.
THANK YOU !!!🙂🎁
Gracias por compartir, saludos
Nice.

HAPPY SEWING. I ❤ your idea!
Thank you for sharing 😊. You can buy folder clips to clip together.
Same clips $1 Tree👍😃
Я хочу эти лимончики...😍😍
Your thread will stop breaking if you lengthen your stitch a bit. 2.5 or even 3.0. Match it up to the stitches around your heat pad. This a really cute idea for sure.
You can use a bigger stitch and it won't look so puckered.
Want to try these. Waiting to see how they turn out..0
Do the green buttons they look more outstanding since you don't have the right color yellow.
Awesome project. Just turn one oven mitten around and you have the other hand. There is not a right and left hand oven mitten.
Thank you for sharing the video....what size buttons did you use? I have some 1 inch but looks like i might need a 1 1/4 inch.
Susan Arthur, I've never measured the buttons, I just use the largest ones that come in the bags or boxes from the dollar stores or Wal-Mart. I just did a quick measure and they seem to be between 1 to 1 1/4 inches🙂🙂
