To all the dummbells who keeps calling the video clickbait, please use your brain before commenting. The word danger written in the title is written as: "Dangers". That means the video is gonna debunk myths that creatine is dangerous. This is why school has 7 subjects, one includes English class. Too bad so many people think school isn't necessary in order to be soberminded

I was diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease in 2019 at 36. I am 41 now in perimenopause, and have been doing keto for the last 3 years. I just started incorporating strength training as I feel the effects of muscle loss with aging, and have concerns with using creatine. I'm also doing research on another supplement called BCA. What are your thoughts on this, and can I build lean muscle without it if needed?

@@jaredolney5707speak to your doctor, do thorough research. I spoke to my brain doctor (I stopped breathing once and now have a A.B.I) about the benefits of Creatine I had found online and the bitch hanged the phone up on me! (I think she was shocked I understood it better than her) But, I have looked through a lot of data and there no threat apparent to taking it for me.
Something that also I found helpful was learning there was actually a study being done by Doctors on the other side of my Country at the time, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital Sydney . I’m Aussie. Into the benefits of Creatine on Brain Injured and she didn’t like it I knew more than the so called “Experts”

I’ve heard Dr. Candow talk about Creatine in a different podcast which is why I decided to take it and not be concerned about the side effects. At the time I was going to start with just 2 g but after listening to him, I bumped it up to five since I had a wrist fracture injury a few months ago. Also, some said that it makes a person puffy in the face but I’ve lost 10 pounds in the last month and the face has muscle so I don’t mind since I don’t want to look sickly losing muscle. I need to lose weight, so I’m intermittent fasting but I want to lose fat and not muscle.

The ONLY time I've ever had an issue with creatine was on days I wasn't hydrated enough. Once I realized the cramps weren't from low magnesium or potassium, I increased my water intake by around 24 oz daily, and made sure I added an extra electrolyte drink by mid afternoon, and since then, no worries!
I'm not saying this is the answer for everyone, but it's working for me

I can tell you for sure that in my case, creatine really helps remove the brain fog that the seizure and pain medications I take cause. If you are taking meds that cause brain fog, give it a try. I recommend not doing more than 10g during loading. It seems to cause some GI issues, but that went away after a while for me. I was unaware that taking 10g might be good for the whole body thing and I really like the possibility in improving bone density. Moving up to 10g from 5g starting today. I really really appreciate finding out that creatinine goes up. That showed up in some recent blood work, but only a little bit high.

I had the same issue with Mono type. Worked great, very fast results but I started cramping so hard in my lower legs that I couldn't walk. It wasn't an instant type cramp either but one that wouldn't let go for hours. This happened when hiking any incline of which I've done my whole life prior. Stopped taking Mono and I was back to normal. Still wanting the same results and power though I tried Creatine Hydrochloride and it's been much better. I'll still get some cramping creeping in after a solid 3 months on but then I just back off for a month and start over again. Mind you I also drink tons of water and take Magnesium twice a day along with many other supplements.

Big deal. All you explained is that you had physiological changes caused by creatine. What's your point? An increase in blood pressure does not mean you are hypertensive or on the verge of having a stroke. Your blood pressure goes up because creatine causes edema. It is not related to vascular damage, it is pressure in the interstitial spaces. Not the same.

I feel creatine made me have kidney issues temporarily . It was either kidney or histamine , I was having issues with my palms peeling everytime I took creatine . Frankly never had an issue with creatine naturally in steak eating carnivore .
The problem with supplements is also how they are processed , hexane or what have you/chemical residue , idk something’s in there causing issues at times .
Also frankly the body isn’t a dumpster that can handle high amounts of supplements that the body wouldn’t naturally make or consume on its own. The organs just aren’t meant to be loaded with tons of supplements so nowadays I really question supplements most of the time .
Some of the pre workouts I see out there have such high doses of everything and people are so irresponsible with their bodies . Most of the time supplements don’t just have one effect, the body uses them for multiple things and it isn’t so simple, the effects are systemic and not isolated.
If people weren’t so insecure and wanted to be enormous at all times it wouldn’t be an issue

Maybe to add to the point of muscle cramping and dehydration- I during the times of taking creatine I had several incidences of palpitations/arrythmias including afib for which I was admitted to the hospital for. Could be because of electrolyte imbalance from fluid shift caused by creatinine. I had to stop using it and have had way less incidences. I loved the benefits from it including the muscle pumps and fullness. There may or may not be a connection, though in 10 years I've introduced creatine supplements into my diet 3 times and all 3 times I went to the ER for afib. I'm no doctor but I am a cardiac nurse so i do have some understanding with electrolytes and effects on the heart. Adding my story to the comments in case others have had issues with arrythmias during creatine supplementation.

Your doctor is correct. Based on my personal experience and being on blood pressure medication. You can get enough from eating fish, seafood, steak, legumes, spinach, eggs, and walnuts. Taking additional creatinine as a supplement is great for vegans and athletes that are pushing performance.
For anyone dealing with blood pressure or cardiovascular issues I would look at CoQ10, b vitamins, magnesium, olive oil and fiber. You'd be amazed by just clean eating and a couple supplements based on your blood work and or blood pressure getting in check that helps everything else.

I've gotten rabdo twice while taking creatine. It wasn't the fault of the supplement, obviously, it was my fault. I have a massive tendency to under hydrate, and i live in south Georgia where it's miserably hot during the summer, and i tend to do things that are very labor intensive even in those times. I also eat a lot of meat, so i have naturally high Creatine levels. Also intake a lot of caffeine. He mentions that muscles can be super hydrated with proper hydration in those situations. What he didn't say is that if you have bad hydration, and your muscles are soaking up what you are getting, other functions like neural and renal are very easily compromised. None of this makes Creatine bad, but it absolutely needs to be taken seriously and intelligently. That's why i hate when these kids of guys act like it's absolutely safe and only beneficial. In a vacuum, yes. In actual practice in real life, definitely not the case.

Maybe you should try vegan or whey protein instead. I think it makes a lot more sense to take vegan or whey protein but only if you are very active and your diet is low in protein. Vegan or whey protein is much better with no negative side effects as long as you don't take more than twice the recommended dose per day and it is safer since you are not taking isolated or synthetic amino acids. Grass-fed or New Zealand whey protein is obviously the best choice because it is much cleaner and free from trace amounts of pesticide, antibiotics, synthetic growth hormone, etc.

Million dollar question: Does creatine increase Blood Pressure? Anecdotally speaking only, I noticed a significant spike in my systolic blood pressure reading that tracked with creatine water gain. There was nothing else I had done or changed(increased sodium intake, sugar intake, calorie intake, binge eating, lack of sleep, change in exercise, etc.,). Luckily as my BP readings were in the optimal range with lots of wiggle room, it it did not push me in the danger zone. But I imagine if this applies to others, especially those that have hypertension, hypertensive, borderlinehypertensive, it could easily push them in the danger zone and potentially increase the risk of strokes. I googled the issue after discovering that and came across some citations that creatine could potentially increase blood pressure. I have not seen any research on this, and would love to know what creatine experts have to say about this

I tried once again last year, in my early 40s, and it literally ravaged my hair, to the point I was considering transplant. Once again I initially thought it was just an ageing effect, but when the trichologist knew I was using it, told me "it might as well be a myth, but there's a busload of anecdotal evidence".
