I hope you enjoy this video on the Cadac Safari Chef 30 compact, this has been a really good buy for us, it replaces our cookers and portable throw away bbq kit.
It is so versatile, it’s a stove, it’s a bbq, it’s a stew pot, it’s a griddle all in one unit, I love it.
You can even buy additions like a pizza stone for it. It only takes up a small amount of room as well. The gas cartridges are easy to get hold of and last a good time too.
With the wind guard you will get more from the gas too.
Cooking on this Cadac is also good, we have cooked salmon, burgers, sausage and eggs so far, I am wanting to cook a curry on the upside down lid.

The Cadac comes in many sizes, even the Safari chef comes in a range of sizes, so be careful which one you buy, make sure you have room in the van for it, this is the main reason I chose the compact.

Thanks again Jim we do have a similar Cadac that uses larger gas containers or will hopefully plug into a bbq outlet when we get our Pulsar.
We did use it when we had the VW.

Nice review. I have thought that the compact version is much smaller, than that. Including accessories, it is not much smaller than the Cobb for e.g., which is another nice system 🙂

Hi Jim, my family and I are just starting to get into camping so currently buying the equipment and learning what we can before the start to get better. I came across this bbq yesterday in a local store and it looks ideal for what we need but the box says it uses 227 cartridges which I can only find on the cadac website, are the other cartridges I can find in go outdoors etc are 220 or 225 cartridges, are these all the same thing?
Hi Ian, if it’s the cadax chef compact like mine, then I can you any standard gas cylinder from places like B&M, the Range etc. They work out at a £1 per cylinder or around that cost. Hope this helps, not sure about all those numbers you have quoted 😁
