Murnau, who directed the first "Dracula" film Nosferatu (1922)); Agent Schreck (Max Schreck also starred in Nosferatu); Blake Dreyer (named after Carl Theodor Dreyer, who directed Vampyr (1932)); Howard Siegel (named after director Don Siegel, who directed "Dirty Harry" (1971)); Billy Hitchcock, whose name pays homage to Alfred Hitchcock; and Valerie Lewton is named after horror film producer Val Lewton.

The concept for Final Destination was based on an idea/spec script for The X-Files. The creator thought the villain (in this case, Death) was just too amorphous for Mulder and Scully to fight. But Glen Morgan and James Wong, who were part of The X-Files brain trust, liked the idea enough to develop it into a feature film, but there is a trace of The X-Files in there in the characters of the two FBI agents.

I'll never forget the day I first saw this movie. It was December 2004 I was in Mexico visiting and my dad planned to see a shrine of a saint on top of a mountain to pay respect to the saint. And he took me and my two older brothers to climb this mountain. So after we finally get to the top we climb down and it was pretty dangerous. Anyways we get to my grandmother's ranch at night and this movie was playing on the tv. It was in Spanish dub and it made me afraid of death because me and my brothers almost died climbing down that mountain. Every time I see this movie it reminds me of that day.

In front of a poster of a bus.

The black sheep of the series is The Final Destination (part 4) the acting takes a severe dive compared to all of them, and there's a lot of forced 3D effects because it was shot for 3D which makes for very hokey moments. I recommend continuing the series, the deaths are always quite worth it. Part 5 is the latest that's come out and that was a great return to form too, fantastic tension and better acting than most of the rest. Good to see you guys checking this series out though.

It’s already stated, but the concept was written for the X-files, James Wong was a writer for the X- files, as well. Agents Weine and Schreck, kind of sort of displaces Agents Mulder and Skully, if you go back and watch, the dialogue makes sense, as so. I also love that all the character have classic horror film related names.

And I loved the DVD concept at the time. I have nightmares constantly of dying on a theme park ride, that and the 5th film features my second huge fear of dying. Having watched it as an adult again I can agree with you both about it, but there is an element of nostalgia attached to it for me now. Great commentary as always Shaun and Tom 😀 you should add Triangle to your horror film list. It has Melissa George and one of the Hemsworth brothers (I think Chris?!) but it's quite twisty and haven't seen many reactions to it on YT xx

Death be like “I’m gonna keep giving you clues tho, here’s Tod’s name on scrap of paper, here’s a bus in a window.” Honestly though, this isn’t my favourite final destination movie, I like how it gets expanded on over time.

A lot of horror movies usually have a bit of campiness to them which makes the movies fun but it shouldn't take away from the concept I think all these movies are great in their own right except for one that I will not name but yeah I can't wait for the new one 😁 this is definitely is my son's favorite horror franchise so I'm excited so is he for the new one 😃🤗

Rented the DVD way back in the 2000s. In the Special features was the alternate ending. Main character was supposed to die saving the girl. The girl got pregnant and the premonition powers passes on to the baby.
