STUFF I WOULD HAVE BOUGHT WITHOUT MY NO-BUY | Hannah Louise Poston | MY NO-BUY YEAR

- In this video, I report on all the makeup I’m 100% sure I would have bought in 2018 if I hadn’t been on a no-buy, as well as some clothes, skincare, and homewares at the end. I’m sure it only accounts for a fraction of what I would have spent, but I hope you find it entertaining nonetheless! If you are starting a no-buy year for 2019, I recommend keeping better track than I did so that you will have a more accurate sense of how much money you are saving.

You paid off your credit card! That’s major. If you keep your spending low in 2019 you’ll have a happier savings in the next year. Don’t be too hard on yourself.
thank you!
Wow this is amazing and I love that you openly discuss debt! Sometimes it is easy to assume that by not buying means more money in your pocket however sometimes is just means not adding more debt and managing what you already have. That in itself is a win.
thanks! you are so right
Dear friends, sorry this is posting a bit later that usual! I'm in rural North Carolina and the internet is a schoolboy creeping like a snail unwillingly to school, as Shakespeare would say. The fact that it's up at all is truly a Christmas miracle. I'm behind on comments because I'm with my family but I'll get to them soon. Thank you for watching!
Hannah Louise Poston u must be in the COUNTRY hahaha, I’m in coastal nc 😊
Hannah Louise Poston truly some sensible perspective for my 2019 goals! Lots of love
Hannah Louise Poston merry Christmas! Enjoy your time with your family. I’m so glad I stumbled upon your videos this year, they really resonate with where I am at and how I want to change and grow next year.
yes, samples are allowed!
Hannah speaks like she's writing a book and I love it
Omg! Yes, I love her style 💕
thanks lovelies!
Congratulations on paying off your credit card! I’m glad that you touched on the debt aspect because not buying something doesn’t always equate to extra money in your pocket. It can simply mean that not buying something saved you from adding credit card debt. This was a great idea to note what you saved yourself this year! I hope you had a nice Christmas!
thank you, Lisa!
What is that??? When I discover that I love something, like an eyeshadow, a lipstick or even a pair of shoes, I go into a panic. I start searching online for MORE of it in other colors and maybe even a backup. I don’t just enjoy having the thing. The thing is suddenly not enough. I become afraid that I will run out of the thing or miss an opportunity to have other colors of the thing. I thought I was wiser than “those people” who act out of a scarcity mentality, but that’s what I’m doing. I am those people. Instead of focusing on and enjoying what I have I spiral out of control 🤦🏾♀️. I want to leave this behavior in 2018.
I love that you spoke about the phenomenon of loving one and thinking more is necessary. I've realized it dilutes the impact of the original. Still my mind jumps to this every time. So excited to continue this journey. 💖
Definitely going to keep a list of my 'probably would have definitely bought' stuff for next year! It's good motivation too to see how much I'll be saving as I go along too! I really appreciate the real talk about how buying these things would have left you in an uncomfortable place financially. Talking about money is so important to help realize what casual spending does to our future selves, and how it can accumulate so easily and un-noticeably. Thanks for everything you do and enjoy your Christmas with your family and friends! xx Here's to next year!
Yes! I'd love to see a video of yours on the list you're going to write during 2019!
Yes, Hailey! I can't WAIT to follow your journey this year!
Me too! I've already reached like 30$ that would have been a definite spend and 50$ that's a maybe. It's insane.... I'm also going through my things and trying to resell stuff (one item every day) which I've been open about on social media (minimalist_beast on insta in case anyone is interested) but not about my no-buy... And a full day into it (😂) I think it's the fear of failure... But I keep watching this and other videos and realised that I cannot fail because to fail is to mortgage my future (you have such a way with words)
I completely relate to "breaking out in a cold sweat" from the lust to BUY a product. You're so funny.
:)
I finally admitted that I need help from my shopping addiction. It has been evolving for years and manifested deeply as a coping mechanism. I know we are on different spectrums but you are such an inspiration to me.
I borrowing this idea for 2019. I actually even paused the video to start a list with the things I’ve almost panic bought in the run up to 2019.
borrow away!
Loved this again. When you were talking about the Armani sticks and wanting more I thought to myself, "duh the ~goal~ is to want more," I could not even think of a single, alternative action to pursue so fixated on consumption my mental faculty lies.
I think you dodged a bullet with the Dose of Colors palette. I can't speak of the quality of the eyeshadow, but I regularly experience the magical thinking of "it would be perfect and fill this (incredibly niche) gap" only to be disappointed and find another (infinitesimal) gap that needs filling. Also, excited about MATHS in videos. The perspective of financial acuity makes things more real for me. Cheers!
Kandy W I feel the same way. I always think “but I don’t have that EXACT lipstick shade and it would make me look better than anything else I have” (yeah right). I need rehab and her serious is helping me with the cravings.
@@wendyraye I treat makeup like it is a life and death proposition. I'm like "how am I suppose to LIvE and BReaThe aIR without the....new Too Faced Concealer???? My soul is in t-r-o-u-b-l-e.
I've been watching your videos after Christmas, and they've made me think about my own habits so much. I am not even a massive compulsive buyer, but hearing about your no-buy year has made me realize how little use I am getting out of some of the things I've bought, how my makeup collection sits mostly unused, growing old and how much of the makeup/skincare culture is about buying the latest thing, buying multiples of the same thing etc. I love travel and I love budgeting, but I don't earn a lot so your videos are inspiring me to think hard about how much I could save by tightening up my budget and saving that money for travel experiences and other wonderful longer lasting things.
I don't know why we sabotage ourselves like that. Is it fear of change? I've been wanting to launch a small bussiness too, and I programmed it to 2019 in order to have some savings... I sarted this year with no credit card debt and now I've overspent in random stuff and still I manage to pay the bills. Where did this money I didn't have come from and why didn't it go to my project instead of a credit institution? I'm afraid of accounting the exact amount, I feel nauseated already. Thank you for placing this mirror in front of us.
you can make change! I know it is super scary but when you start facing the numbers it immediately gets easier. Sending a huge hug!
@@HannahLouisePoston Thank you, Hannah 🤗
Hannah just wanted to let you know in another video you mentioned buying for your “fantasy self” and that resonated so much for me. Now when I have wants or before purchases I think of this thank you so much. This has really helped curb my spending and consumption.
thanks, Amanda! xo!
Thank you Hannah, for documenting your year. What seemed to start as a struggle for you, then watching you reach your epiphany and now seeing your internal growth, has had a profound effect on me and I am but one of your viewers. You have made me reevaluate my own habits and what crutches I used to elevate my self worth.
Sincerely, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Long may your success continue.
Happy Holidays xxx
thank you so much for this comment! xo!
Congrats on the 10K! Here's hoping your channel continues to grow fast and more people hear your message. You're such a breath of fresh air in the youtube beauty community. 😘
Also, thank you for not being afraid to speak so frankly in this video and throughout the year. You can tell from the comments what an impact it has had on many people, but it can't have been easy.👍
thank you so much! It was not easy but it was rewarding. Big hug!
You have done such fantastic things for yourself and others, Hannah. Thank you so much, and congratulations!
thank you!
You look so divine in this dress. I watch and rewatch all your videos at the moment. You inspire me so much,Hannah!
Congratulations on 10k, I found your channel in February and have enjoyed your videos so much! You give me strength to resist pretty things, I appreciate you so much❤️❤️
thank you!
You keep hinting about that new project... I'm so looking forward to what it is!!! Happy holidays Hannah and thank you for those insightful videos. 💜
thank you, Joannie!
Congratulations you did it! I have been living vicariously on your no buy year and hopefully I can take baby steps towards a low buy year. You have been an inspiration to me. Happy New Year! 🎆
Thank you Doris! I appreciate all of your support. xo!
When I want something I shop my stash and see if I have something similar, if not then I write the product name on a list, and check it two weeks later, but this year I will wait a month or two, if I truly want it, it can wait :) ⭐ I'm doing a low buy this year, because I love my collection already and I want to use the products I already have, I don't like an overwelming amout of products, It's time to be creative with the stuff we own! ❤
yay, awesome!
congrats on 10k Hannah! you're amazing and deserve it
thank you, Zeyn!
This is a great video. Really helps me to see how easy it is to spend money on things even when a person is “trying to be good” with not spending a lot of money. Further reinforces my need to stop buying non necessities.
What resonates most is how many products you actually didn’t want after letting the initial ‘list’ for it die down!this is where I’m bad...I see something and really struggle to wait a while to see if it’s something I want two or three months later, another great video!!!!love watching them!!!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼😘
hi hannah, happy christmas!
i discovered your channel a few days ago and have been binge watching while knitting my nights away. thank you for the long videos so i don't have to keep stopping my knit to load the next one. i also love that you give very detailed explanations on your thought process and actions. your experience with this project has been extremely eye opening, i only wish i had found your channel sooner! i am now subscribed with notification bell on and can't wait to hear about your next project.
congrats on getting out of debt, now the savings can officially begin! (:
yay, I'm so glad to hear this! Thanks!
This is so great - I think the fact that you don't remember everything you would have bought clearly actually underscores an important point you make a lot in your channel - the transience of material "wants" and how often what we think we want, doesn't actually make us happy when we get it (though for sure sometimes it does :)). But I've definitely experienced the "want to want" phenomenon and its pitfalls. It's also striking to me how the language you used in your earlier "what i would buy in 2019" videos was more focused on the look of the product and the idea of the product, and the way you describe things in this new video is more about how you will utilize things and how they fit into your life and current collection. It's amazing and I've found your videos to be so helpful in motivating me to take on this project.
Yes, I totally agree! I've forgotten what I wanted :)
Hannah! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas 🎄! This video was excellent - I love how this makes me look and think of spending overall. I’m looking forward to seeing your new project - you are such an amazing and inspiring person! For me, your videos made such a positive difference; thank you so so much! ❤️❤️❤️
thank you for all of your support, Lisa! xoxo!
Congratulations on completing your goal. I am in a No-buy/Low-buy for 2020, and looking forward to the end of the year. Has gone well so far. You ramble, be concise.
This is a cool concept, Hannah! There is so much insight in your content. Really appreciate your videos!
thank you, Dave!
Loved this video! So interesting and inspiring. I just discovered your channel and will be binge watching a lot of your older videos now. Thanks for sharing your experience. It takes a lot to talk so openly about these kinds of topics. But it surely helps a lot! Keep up the good work. (:
Happy holidays from Germany!
thank you for the support!
I love the glimmer and glow... I have about 10 of them. Love how they perform, there's like two that are not amazing but le douce is beautiful ... I already started a list... is crazy how many impulse purchases we make. congrats on the 10K...
God bless you. You inspire me. I couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t stick to my no spend year. Thank you for clarifying. I need to focus on not buying not not spending 😘😍
So happy I came across your channel a few days ago. I am literally watching all your videos since you began ur no buy journey last year. Would love to try the same this year.
This is the first video of yours that I have watched. For a while I've been overwhelmed by my collection of makeup - there are things I bought because of hype, packaging, etc. and I realised that I wasn't using the things I really loved and I was feeling bad whenever I decluttered and I was feeling bad I couldn't afford to buy things I needed/knew I would genuinely enjoy that was more upmarket. In 2018 I had a general "decrease spending", and I reduced spending by 30%. Now I'm totally inspired by your channel to further limit my spending on makeup next year. Thanks so much for posting videos!!
thank you so much for watching!
Hi Hannah! Congrats for your successful no buy year! You can’t imagine how much you inspired me for doing a no buy year myself!
I have the Dior pallette you mentioned. I can easily say that you will not regret buying it, especilly for the highlight shades. I absolutely love the glow that they give to my cheeks. I also have a very very pale skin with yellow undertones. I put the champagne color on top of my cheekbones first, mixing it a little bit with my blush color. And then I put the white looking one on the highest points of my cheeks for an intensified and almost 3D glow. You can use them light handedly for a more natural look or heavy handedly for maximum glow. The product is so thin that you can’t mess with it even if you pile it on! It is beautiful!
The blush color is a little bit too shimmery for my taste but I sometimes use it as a blush topper if I want extra glow. And I am not a bronzer person either to talk much about the bronzer shade. But I can say that it is too shimmery to be a bronzer as well. It would be a good eyeshadow color though, or a blush topper as well for muting down those blushes that are too bright and pigmented. But I once tried to mix blush and bronzer shades as a blush color and I loved it, just too shimmery and reflective for a blush. But it would definitely pop the cheeks on those dull skin days :)
I hope my little review somewhat helps you to decide whether it worths buying or not. Greetings from Turkey!
thank you for all of the info! I'm so glad the palette performs so well for you.
Another great video! Very excited for the new project reveal! I’ve been binge watching your videos. As well as some others. I am excited about my no-buy in 2019! Thank you! I am working on a list of my ‘ideal’ makeup stash/collection/curation (hint- it’s much smaller with pretty specific items). It will be a while before I reach the goal but knowing I will have a collection of things that I will use and love will help the thought process when something outside the stash catches my eye (hopefully). Have a beautiful day!
thank you!
10,000 subscribers just in time for the end of the year!! Woohoo! Congrats!!!
thank you!
Thanks so much for talking $$$. This really helps me personally because this is what’s going to motivate me for my no-buy 2019.
💖🌸💕
Simply amazing content as always. I thoroughly appreciated the work and gumption that must have gone into this video. Thank you so much!🤟🏻💕
thank you!
I saw that dior palette the other day and swatched it to see why you liked it, and its so interesting!! I can see why you love it. Congrats on 10K!!!!
thanks, Joo Joo!
You have a very soothing voice to listen to 🧘♀️
The whole new new new culture is overwhelming and stressful and although I am very aware of money, any help is appreciated
Congrats on managing to make it through the whole no buy year xx
Great video! Thank you for the sharing! I'm beggining my bo-buy year now! I'll follow a lot of your relevant tips! Thank you very much again!❤️
Merry Christmas, Hannah. I just wanted to let you know how you've changed my mindset. I was never a big beauty/skincare hoarder but wouldn't have hesitated to buy 2 or 3 lip colors or something similar at the pharmacy while picking up a prescription. Buying an eyeshadow palette was more of a deliberated purchase-still, I accumulated 3 or 4 and have since made a conscious effort to use them all. Shopping my modest stash is so satisfying! I've just unsubscribed from a couple of CZcams channels that I had enjoyed but realized that seeing drawers full of very expensive products languishing unused made me uncomfortable and rather irritated at the conspicuous consumption. So, thank you and Happy New Year!
thank you so much for watching and commenting! xo!
I love your channel. I have been watching your videos since yesterday. It’s soooo refreshing to listen to you . I have been brainwashed for nearly 10 years. 2 years ago I stopped hoarding and decluttered. I am on a no buy but don’t need to really replace much as I had back ups of everything or similar items . Sooo shocking to see how much you really buy
Your clothing line is gorgeous. Wow such talent !!!
thank you so much!
Can’t wait to hear about your new project!
thanks, Danielle! So soon!
Hannah these videos have been so important to me. I was given some pieces of the Nars Erdem collection for my birthday and I really love them though I didn’t get the lip palette. I am going to organise my collection and declutter it in early January and I look forward to following along with your new project in January. Xxx
I love your look today! It’s so complimentary: your makeup, hair, and dress. ❤️
thank you Valerie!
i had never heard of kevyn aucoin before i started watching you, now im a big fan of the makeup line!
I do that too : I find a product I LOVE and I immediately want more of them. More colors, etc. And most often the additional color end up not being something I LOVE.
So exciting for your 10k!! I've been telling everyone about your channel. Congratulations!! Also funny enough - when you put that melt palette pic up it looked so much like the eyeshadow were wearing. Another reason not to need it?
ahah that's so true!
Hey Hannah! My parents and I are going on a low buy! I’m excited and inspired by you!!! 💕💕
awesome!
Hannah! I've finally decided to start a no-buy! It's only going to be for three months, as I know that any more than that would make me want to rebel against my rules- But even so- that's three months of saving money that wouldn't be happening if it weren't for you! Thank you so much for making these videos! They are so encouraging and helpful to me! Sorry for all the exclamation points! I'm excited!
yesss, I'm so proud of you!
Loved this!! So so interesting and very eye opening.
Thanks, Lucia!
Oh my gaaaaahdd 10,000 subbies!!!!😲😲😲 i was there from the beginning girl (bragging rights - let me have'em) and it has been a joy to go on the journey with you!👍💯😚👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
thank you Laura! Your support over all of this time has meant so much to me!!
Super insightful and inspiring video, as usual. I also had the Melt Cosmetics Gemini palette on my wishlist earlier this year, and didn't end up buying it (I moved the amount it would have cost to buy and ship it into my savings account instead!). The next day I decided to use some of the olive green shadows I already own as a way of pacifying my desire, and...then I remembered that olive greens look horrible on me. Ha! It was a great lesson, and one I will try to remember as I embark on my own no-buy year in 2019!
I love the idea of having an intense desire to buy something, having the money to do so but reasoning with yourself and going to your own collection instead, and then putting it into savings! I want to incorporate that into my habits in 2019
@@alexandraferguson5084 Thank you! It is something I hope to do more and more throughout 2019. It was a great feeling seeing that extra deposit in my savings account!!
I love this! I've had similar success using my own collection to replicate products this year (and then having the experience kill the desire for the new thing). Thanks for watching! xoxo
I'm planning a no-buy/low-buy for 2020 (actually I think I'll start right after the November Rouge sale) and have binge watching your videos for inspiration. I don't want my current makeup and skincare to go bad without using it. Thanks for your amazing videos, Hannah!
I love your videos so much. You are such a good anti-consumerist cheerleader! It's so true, all these behaviours are capable of being unlearned. Well done, thank you so much for sharing 😊 happy holidays 😊
thank you!
this was really fun to hear :)
:)
Another great video. I’m not tracking what I would buy during my no buy, but I did track my spending during the last year and when my no buy is over, I will compare what I spent during a typical year and the no buy year to see the difference. I can’t wait to see what I save!
Once again, thanks. Discussing debt, potential or real, is difficult but needs to be done. I’m going to try to keep a list of what I would have bought but I fear the list will get long if I pay as much attention to make up trends as I usually do. Here’s to an abbreviated list due to my avoidance of marketing! Happy New Year Hannah.
thank you!
"I want to want what fenty releases" I can relate to this so much with some other brands! Specifically Nars, Too Faced, and Kylie Cosmetics. I'm a sucker for Nars branding though I don't own anything NARS because none of the acutal products speak to me enough, but I do own some Too Faced and Kylie and I love the formulas of what I do own. But you have inspired me, so I'm doing a 7 month no buy myself! From Christmas to my birthday, thanks so much for the inspiration, and I talked about you in my video announcing the no buy! Hope your holidays are going wonderfully!
I'm so glad you can relate! I'm not alone :)
such an awesome idea! I will definitely keep this mind to do during my no buy!
yay!
Officially have been telling people about my no buy year and it’s rules, that’s my way of being accountable as I’m not going to have a CZcams channel. So excited but so nervous. So so glad I found you and your channel girl... I definitely owe this decision to you.
yay! congratulations!
I wish I could thumbs this video up 100 times
This video is the equivalent of going through all the crappy food you ate and how It contributed to weight gain. Hannah you are so so brave
thank you Gail!
I'm going to have to return to this video like 7000 times during my no buy! I looove the advice to write down everything you'd have purchased. Congratulations on paying off your credit card and reaching 10k!
thank you!!!
Such an amazing concept! I’m doing this next year :)
yay!
I particularly like the shade of this article of clothing of yours, it looks like a champagne yellow to me and it is so pretty. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas! 🖤
Have you seen Georgia's mirrors yet?!?!?! 😍😍😍
thanks, Naomi! Yes, the mirrors mirror is amazing!
Love your videos!!!!!! And I was also thinking half the time.... these things are too warm for your skin tone! I am really in the colour theory so I'm so glad you didn't buy them too and saved yourself some money xxx
Watching from Australia🇦🇺🦘
Love this video obviously! I feel the same about fenty.. but the only thing I truly love from her is the foundation. Georgia had mentioned her match sticks are good so I want to try them next year...merry Christmas friend 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄
I'm interested in the matchsticks too since seeing Georgia rave about them!
So happy for you! My only commentary on the products would be that Smashbox buildable cheek brush. I always thought I hated some of the stiffer blush formulas. Turns out, I never found the right brush. It isn’t the softest brush I own(it gets softer with each wash) but man it applies blush beautifully!
good to know!
Can't wait for your new project😊
thanks!
I live in rural North Carolina (very rural - seriously a one stoplight town) so I know what you mean! Keeping a running list during the no-buy is such a good idea! Definitely making a note for myself! I am definitely an impulse shopper. Another trap I fall into is really good sales. I have learned how to buy makeup for really cheap by stacking sales, coupons and reward points. It sounds like that would be a positive but just because I can get the lipstick or whatever 75% off doesn’t mean I need to buy it!
Also, I am a sucker for the same kind of mustardy/grungy greens too. I would have loved to get my hands on that Melt palette (their shadow formula is bomb). I do have the Colourpop Good Sport palette & really, really like it! I have been able to create some fun looks with it!
$467.00 away from being Rouge again this year...I have 6 days to make that happen. Its not happening.
I let VIB status go this year. Ulta Platinum is more than enough.
@@HannahLouisePoston I'll always have my $1000.00 Nars Blush as a fond memory. Lol That I can apply with my $1000.00 mini red face brush. Ugh.
I am with you. My goal for 2018 was not to reach Rouge status...Anti- Rouge (LOL). For the first time in years, I am not rouge. I didn’t even make VIB. So proud of myself. 🤗
@@ralphealbrown2602 haha. Proud of you 🌼
An earrings tip: I too have trouble with them causing a reaction but now I paint the stem and the back of the butterfly with a clear nail varnish. There's a 'proper' product that you can buy which does the same thing but clear varnish works too and will no doubt be cheaper. Also, I got some antibiotic cream on eBay and used this if my piercings ever felt a bit inflammed when I began wearing earrings again due to having found a solution to the reaction, and that cleared everything in its tracks. I have no trouble with earrings now, I didn't wear them for years because the holes would seal up after wearing them because of the inflammation and getting them back in was so painful - basically having to re-pierce the hole with the earring stem - but this has solved the issue. Hope this helps. Great video, thank you
wow, thank you!
Thank you for making this video. I confess that I put the Armani eyeshadow cream on my loves list, but there it will probably stay!
I used a large percentage of my year-end bonus from my employer to pay down debt from a year of rampage makeup and skincare buying. I also transferred the rest of the debt to a debt consolidation loan. My credit cards are now all at $0, but I still have the debt. It's a slightly better situation. You've had a lot of positive influence on me since I discovered your channel about 3 months ago.
congratulations on making such great progress with your debt!
very inspiring. love your videos
thank you Kristina!
That gorgeous olive shade La Douce is the only full size Stila Shimmer and Glow I own. It’s opaque as long as you don’t try to blend it out. I’m happy to have it in my collection.
mmm it's so pretty!
I would still be in to seeing a Glossier overview in 2019. I'm on a no buy for 2019 but I love their vibe.
you really inspired me! I'm gonna try a no buy until August and I'll give myself a holiday in Greece if I can make it. 😏
yay, you can do it!
Still didnt watched the whole video, but watched your other videos and they are so inspiring :) at first i didnt really wanted to change much in 2019, but i think now i will do a low buy because my problems are that i have way to much bodylotion, shampoo etc and my rule is, i can only buy new ones if i am using all of the stuff i own till everything is gone :D and then i treat myself that i buy smt the first time in lush (kinda hard because they have a sale rn lol)
Can you do a what I eat in a day/grocery haul/how to save money in groceries
I'll try to do a groceries video next year!
Hearing you describe the NARS pallet design.. I can't help but think., even though you might feel like you're a makeup consumer..
I'm beginning to think you're a designer of makeup .. a future makeup designer 🤩
Have a think about it
The camel palette... I bought it because I was convinced it would be perfect for me. I used it daily for one week and just didn't like it and so I returned it. Then I almost re-bought it because I saw a CZcamsr loving on it, but talked myself out of it because I had actually tried it and didn't like it. But I almost got sucked it by a good review even though I had already returned it. It's a struggle. Glad I got rid of it because it wasn't right for me.
What didn't you like about it, just wondering🙂
@@noor.zkareem2745 The two transition shades look exactly the same on the lid. The copper just ended up not wowing me. And the light color wasn't light enough to be a highlight on me. I think it probably looks better on people with a darker skin tone than me, I'm more light-medium. I think if they'd replaced one of the transition colors with a lighter shade it would have been better but overall I was also disappointed with how the shadows performed and how it was put together.
I'm glad you returned it. So many people are afraid to return products. I bought the UD born to run palette on sale during black friday. I bought it from UD. I tried to make it work and I couldn't so I asked them for a return authorization. I went back and forth on returning it, but glad I did.
Yes I have felt that was before too
@@TylerAlyseArcher yes Natasha D has a bad habit of creating palattes with similar shades in it at least twice or even three times and look exactly the same on the freakin lids...lol
Holy shit, you go girl!
Great video, Hannah. I have recently started documenting how much I'm saving by not buying the things I want and it's truly eye-opening. I've saved more than $1000 since July! It's horrifying to think that I would have spent that kind of money unthinkingly in a previous life.
awesome!
Dear Hannah, the neutral transition shade you just described is "Nabla Fossil". Its perfect you can use it for either cool or warm looks and its a single shadow not in a palette
nice! Thank you!
Amazing, I am really tempted to do the same "experiment"
This is eye opening and a good idea. A little here and there ADDS UP. I know the feeling of looking for other colors instead of just enjoying the one(s) you have. For me, just off the top of my head:
Charlotte Tilbury Eyes to Memorize in Jean and Marie Antonette, 1 or 2 lipsticks, Film Star bronzer (I have too many bronzers to use up in my lifetime), Magic Away Concealer, Pillow Talk and Golden Goddess eye palettes, Hollywood Flawless Filter, and lipgloss
Tom Ford Cocoa Mirage eyeshadow pallet and bronzer brush
Anastasia Amrezy highlighter, dip brow, clear brow gel and brow brush
Tatcha Silk Primer
Hourglass luminous light powder, eyebrow gel in warm blonde, ethereal glow blush, mascara, foundation stick.
Too Faced Peach Perfect foundation and powder
Bobbi Brown shimmer brick in rose (I have it already and also pink quartz, but they’ve both shattered (every time) so I’m using them broken - wanted a new one. The rose is the perfect color on my cheeks and eyes - makes me look awake and I usually don’t wear rose colors on my eyes), 2 eyeshadows - Sable and Cement Sparkle (artist did my makeup for a Christmas party and used these, figured I couldn’t find exact dupes, but how often do I use glitter on my eyes at work?), lipsticks and glosses, serum eye corrector and concealer
Drunk Elephant Vitamin C day serum (already have 2 bottles of serum from Dermadoctor from Costco - 2 bottles were cheaper than one regular price), Protini cream, Framboos
Bum Bum cream set for the holiday
Armani eyetint in cold copper
Stila glitter and glow mini set (half off at Ulta, so $12.50! but they were sold out because I stalled)
It Cosmetics LBD powder and contour (I don’t contour, so blush) brushes (again, half off at Ulta but I stalled)
Fenty Gloss Bomb
Leneige sleeping lip mask
Milk makeup blur stick
This is only what I can think of off the top of my head. I’m sure if I thought about the drugstore I’d think of many more dupes people swear by. I actually feel good listing it all out because not one single thing is a need. I have enough eyeshadow, blush, bronzer and highlighter to last the rest of my life so what would I do with my older stuff, and would I ever use it, if I bought all this stuff?? I’m going to start tracking things like extra phone cords, like I almost bought today.
Yesterday Ulta had Lorac Unzipped Gold half off and I was tempted - super metallic shades that I don’t need, and I saw mixed reviews. I wouldn’t have been tempted AT ALL if it was normal price. Maybe that’s what I should ask myself during these sales from now on.
wow, amazing!!! it really, really adds up. That is something I have learned this year.
You are looking especially beautiful and glowing in this video ❤
thank you!
I love the colourpop lux lipsticks! For me they're second in formula only to Pat Mcgrath luxetrance lipsticks. Plus they frequently go on sale. Sooooo.... if in 2019 you allow yourself, I strongly recommend them.
someone sent me one as a gift and I'm SO impressed!
I’m still being tempted by those Hourglass cream shadows. That’s the one good part of those shadows always being sold out on the Sephora website. I love cream shadows singles so it’s a struggle but I’ve been resisting them since the summer.
It's really nice to hear that you've paid off your credit card debt. Now you're in a fresh start, and can start saving money, and even more start investing in some ways. Congrats! Really happy for you :)
thank you!
Good video! I think I spent around $100-$120 on singles and depotted 6 palettes. So now I’m slowing down on singles. I love them and now I feel like I have so many singles.
I lusted after DOC Pretty Cool until I saw how brown it looked. I don’t really want that. Found a single from Give Me Glow in Americano to dupe that one shade.
I happen to have the Camel pallet and I really like it. The good news is if you do decide you want that bronze shadow, on Beautylish (and I think her personal site) you can buy individual shades. There is 1 shade in the blue/purple pallet that I REALLY want. And since I'm going to be starting my own channel and videos for my own no-buy year, i'll definitely keep a list. That's a great idea!
awesome! Let me know when you start your channel!
@@HannahLouisePoston oh it's up now! Here's my first/intro video. czcams.com/video/PjzoxSoV_8M/video.html
If you a looking for a good cool toned brown transition shade palette the dose of colors pretty cool palette is amazing!!! Not that I want to encourage you to buy anything, but I think that might be what you are looking for. Great video!
I'll consider it next year, I think!
One thing that helps me is to look up tutorials using products I already have. It helps to reinspire me about that product. My downfall is when stuff is marked down, in my head I’m like “It’s only 30 dollars now instead of 50.” So I have to tell myself would I have bought it full price?
Thanks for sharing. Browsing singles at Inglot alone I would already be hitting my budget for my low buy in March following my no buy. That is concerning considering there are still a couple palettes I'd love to buy now and I won't be surprised if there is more released that I'll want in 2 months at the end of my no buy.
I’ve thus far not been in any consumer debt from my shopping habits, but my saving habits were abysmal. This year I started a mantra that I am a “good saver”. I would just tell myself that over and over. From summer time and finding you, MUR, and starting my own no-buy to now I’ve managed to gave $4500, which is nothing short of spectacular for me. I also paid to get work done on my car that I had been putting off, so doing that maintenance definitely saved me money in the long run. I always used being self employed as my excuse for not saving “because everything went back into the business”. The test determined... that is a lie. I now know I am capable of saving money especially if I make it a priority.
I will definitely take your advice to keep a list during my “19 in 2019 low buy year”. I have kept a wishlist this year but so many things have been added and subsequently deleted that it shames me to think of what I would have spent if I had only bought HALF of that.
Hope you have a very Happy Holidays in NC with the fam!
HEY NEW PROFILE PIC WHAT'S GOOD!!! Wow, congrats on saving that much, it is spectacular. I hope you had amazing holidays too!
Hannah Louise Poston as you’ll probably see in another comment I’m starting my own YT channel soon so I figured it would be good to show I’m a real person instead a hilarious handdrawn Pokémon creation 😂
