Idea For a Layout - Midge Hall, Leyland
Inn 1846 a line opened from Preston to Walton, Liverpool by the Liverpool, Ormskirk and Preston railway. This was subsequently taken over by the Lancs and Yorkshire railway in 1859. In between these years the East Lancashire railway had a hand in things.
Formerly a major route to Liverpool from Preston and beyond, it would make an interesting small model railway layout. It would suit an oval or end to end with lots of interesting possibilities with farm produce and local passenger trains of small length, making a good ‘flatland’ layout akin to the East Anglian landscape.
Hopefully this week I can, time permitting, get a few more snaps of the area.
Local train snappers have left some good videos on CZcams, notably ‘Hughsey’, who featured a couple of great shots of a class 37 charter passing through.
