16600 Sea Dweller.....a classic it’s probably the last of the old school dive watches with a great movement and understated style. Last year produced was 2008, with a no holes case. Crystal replacements don’t have the laser crown supplied by Rolex on a Sea Dweller I’ve just had mine recently serviced and the crystal is without a crown.
@@closer71 ....Yea, James. Rolex started adding that laser etching on all its watches in 2001. Today the newer models all seemingly include it with exception of the Milgauss with the green glass.
If you only ever own a one Rolex watch, the Sea Dweller 16600 is the one watch to acquire. Engraved on rear with “Oyster Case” stamped on closure back. Uncontested this represents the essence of what best exemplifies a true sport dive master piece. Certainly big brother to the more common produced Submariner. It’s rarity will make it a collector’s must have.
Just acquire my 2008 16600 to complement my 116600. Beautiful vintage (ish) Rolex. I’m not enamored with the cyclops as I recently sold my Cermit & YM. The two SD are great additions due their comfortable size and movement. I’m also fortunate to have a 39mm Explore (full lume) and 41mm Sub (no date of course). The 41 actually wears much bigger than the two SD’s, especially the diminutive 16600.
I’ve had my 16600 for a year and love the way it feels on the wrist and its understatedness. They haven’t gone up much in a year, if at all. I’d like a bit of satisfaction on that score, even if it’s a long-term keeper.
Reference 16600 prices have increased quite a bit since I got mine, in 2018, and I’m willing to bet they’ll be quite a bit more expensive in another three years...
what do you think about this vs the SD43? I love this one you have here but I love the ceramic bezel and milled clasp of the new ones what do you think
Great vid. I bought my 16600 about 5 months ago and dont regret at all . Its also a P serial number. I only have a 16cm wrist and its not oversized at all. I think people just assume its oversized when its not . Its my first Rolex and i wanted something under the radar and I see it being alot more special than the Sub. Its turbo brother if you like. I have a 1998 (U-serial) but my original crystal has no crown either. Which year did they begin doing that? Was it like, 2006-2007??
