    Someone really needs to shake up this industry imo. This seems like one of the best head units out there, just ordered one for my wrx, but it feels reallly bad spending $1k on what's basically a low end tablet with 2012 specs. If only the Android head units had fewer issues.

      @@jeremiahmendoza8324 Pretty well, I'm happy with it. In the 2015+ WRX specifically it's just the right size to not block the center vents which is nice. The lagginess still isn't ideal for what this costs but it's not unusable or anything, especially in CarPlay. Wireless CarPlay works well but occasionally cuts in/out, not a huge deal to me. I'd probably make the same choice again.

    My stock audio in my 2019 Civic Hatch crackles, so ordered this unit because it’s in stock & wireless. Hope it’s not as bad as everyone says it is 🤔 Got it installed. To my surprise, the price offset 4 me is it’s SQ. I’m not going to need an external amp. Sounds amazing w/ my OEM speakers. However, the 6.5” coaxial Infinity’s I ordered are still in the box. Once installed, I’ll know for sure. Hope this helps others.
    Edit: I exchanged the 7600NEX for a Sony XAV 9500ES (for the hell of it). However, I still stand by my earlier comment here. The Pioneer sounds phenomenal with OEM speakers.

    This unit can be a better option than Android based head units because of a few reasons:
    It's easy to purchase an Android head unit with poor audio output quality (strange noise, clicks, pops.) you never really know what you're going to get; one built on whatever a Chinese Friday is will leave you bummed out.
    Most android head units DSP control software is pretty vague and buggy- even in latest models, sometimes they boot up and while it appears DSP settings are still set, it ignores them completely and is playing flat unchanged audio until the next reboot. Settings are oddball terminology and delay controls screen only shows subwoofer volume level rather than a proper distance adjustment, whattt? This pioneer head unit seems to have all the proper DSP audio controls we come to expect and likely will work as they should on ever boot.
    Android head units lack auto brightness control based on ambient light sensor input. I always found the Android head units I experimented with to often be in the wrong display brightness regardless of playing with the built in automatic settings, using third party apps, or even alternative OS roms; having to fiddle with the brightness buttons to see the display or dim it from blinding me at night every other time I got in the car was quite obnoxious. This pioneer head unit has an ambient light sensor.
    Speccing out a decent android powered head unit, adding wireless carplay support (no wireless android auto still.), adding a DSP to make up for missing/odd DSP options in the DSP software, you're now not far from the price of this Pioneer head unit.
    Is this head unit worth $1000? Parts and labor of hardware, probably not. To front the software and engineering costs, maybe that's what Pioneer believes needs to happen. But, hey, drop that price a bit and you'll get way more interest, Pioneer.
    I'd like to see a faster processor with more fluid graphic response, an optically bonded display (no air gap,) and an included anti-glare/matte screen film protector, brackets to properly house/hold the USB C and HDMI connectors on the back side.

    I don't think many of you understand the complexity of this headunit for the price. Just because a TV is a lot bigger means nothing. A TV just displays video from a separate input signal. That's it. The has built in amplification, eq crossovers, works with both Apple and Android, works with the RR to retain factory controls, and a whole bunch of other shit. This isn't simply a 9" display.

    • @Qualitymobilevideo
      @Qualitymobilevideo  Před 3 lety +16

      Not once did I say "a TV is a lot bigger". I simply said I'd rather have a new TV than a $1000 stereo. I don't think you understand that we've reviewed 300 stereos. We sell car stereos. We know what car stereos can do. It's as if you didn't watch the 20 minute video where I went over every single feature it has, including the ones you just pointed out. Saying that a stereo is not worth $1000+ doesn't mean we don't understand what a stereo can do. It means we know so well what it can do, that we find it's not worth the cost.

      Distortion means the amount of distorted noise that occurs when an amplifier is pushing too hard past its limit and the audio becomes distorted. Under 1.5% is ideal. RMS is the power output, the higher the better. Frequency response is how well the stereo plays each frequency that exist as audio wave forms. With a flat EQ a flat frequency is best

      Unfortunately, for single din head units, if you want a large display like this it'll have to be a floating display or a motorized display.

    OK, so
    It looks really nice ✅
    Large 9” display ✅
    HD Display ✅
    Wireless Apple CarPlay ✅
    HDMI port ✅
    Tilt / floating display, for me; not really a big fan. I’d rather have the screen integrated into the dash of the car because it looks more natural. Also, I’m not sure how this would last with bumps during driving. ❌
    How long is the warranty?? 🤔
    USB That plays back video files ✅
    Can upload JPEG images and videos ✅
    Compasitive touchscreen ✅
    Too many movable parts, accessories, extensions and adapters to keep track of and buy ❌
    Internet capability ✅
    Amazon Alexa ✅
    Not able to download apps online ❌
    Affordable price? Over $1,000.00 😮 Hell to the NAAW! ❌❌👎🏾
    I definitely like the stereo a lot. There are a lot of great features and it does everything I would like a car stereo to do, but I’m not sure I’m willing to pay over $1000 to have it.

    • @mutatioveritas4559
      @mutatioveritas4559 Před 3 lety

      Haven't had the connectivity issues with the same OS on the 4660NEX (the 7" version of the bigger-screened variants) I picked up, but the lagginess is a concern. Got the latest firmware and nothing has really change in terms of responsiveness. Watching a video of the 2660NEX, which basically looked like a capacitive mechless version of the 2550NEX (have that in one of my other cars) and using the same user interface, it looks snappy and responsive to the capacitive "buttons" on the side of the screen. It's disappointing to see Pioneer compromising on getting wireless CarPlay and capacitive screens wrapped together with their new UI, coming at the expense of usability and responsiveness. I feel torn. I need a 7" unit so I'm leaning toward a Kenwood DMX907S for wireless CarPlay, which feel more responsive in terms of swiping and very much so with the mechanical buttons. That said, beyond the home screen, the Kenwood HD Radio/radio screen just looks schizophrenic and cluttered by comparison to the Pioneer radio screen on either of the user interfaces in question. If I had it my way, the cleanest aftermarket UI by Sony would have HD Radio, a capacitive screen, and wireless CarPlay all rolled into one and I wouldn't have to compromise with Pioneer or Kenwood.
