IFC Yipes is one of the biggest icons of the FGC. Next to being a legend on the mic, he is also godlike in Marvel. A huge pioneer for Magneto-Storm-Psylocke, and a champion of rushdown. Lets see some of his habits and how they contribute to his playstyle. ITS MAHVEL BAYBEE!

Mistake:
In the first and second clip i actually got Yipes confused with Soomighty, because they play a really similar style. This shouldnt distract from the lessons to be learned as the strategy remains the same for Yipes' neutral game eitherway, and the character mechanics are the same. Apologies for the mixup.

Would love to see Santhrax next and the reasoning why he runs Commando when Cyclops could somewhat fill the Anti Air Assist competitively while being a much better character
Well CapCom assist reaches to the very top of the screen so it allows storm and sentinel to protect themselves while up there. With cyclops assist, there isnt really anything to keep the other person from hanging out at super jump height. Also sentinel can call assist while in flight mode so when fighting another sentinel in the air, he can call CapCom to interrupt their offense or knock sentinel out of the air completely. Sentinel also gets access to big damage from fly combos with commando that he wouldnt get with cyclops, usually about 60% damage or so. So similar to mag psy, sent doesnt really need meter to inflict a lot of damage so it can be for storm to use and control the screen with hail, sent drones, and capcom assist. She can really sit on a lead like that no problem.
It mostly has to do with maximizing the playstyle I think. Cyc assist is 80% as good as commando, but he's 200% better as a character so it does seem strange to still pick commando. The think about it is that mvc2 (and marvel in general) is such a brutal game that if you lose even one character, let alone 2, you are basically screwed anyway. That's why there's no real concept of anchor characters in mvc2. Its usually battery character, dhc character, assist. So capcom's speed, screen coverage, and damage being better than cyclops is a massive deal.
Jwong makes particularly good use of cyclops cuz he's just better than the rest of us mortals, so there's a chance he can come back with cyc. Also, he uses cyc assist to combo off reset into air throw with sent which is something really good that commando doesn't give. Sanford would probably rather give that up for the opportunity to maximize everything he can do to win the point war which commando accomplishes over cyc.

Unfortunately the first two matches you should that was Soomightys MSP against Yipes matrix and The Red magneto In the second video was Soomighty as well against yipes! That was a set they played in Evo 2006 top 8 for reference! But none the less awesome vids! Keep up the good work!
