5:53 WARNING! This larger tube is NOT a gas tank vent. It is the refueling overflow tube. When refueling, if the tank is overfilled or if gas is spilled around the fill neck area it drains down a hole next to the neck opening and down this tube instead of over the sides of the tank. This tube is normally held in place by a split tube on the left side of the stock air box so that spilled fuel can drip from the split to the ground. It does not go into the inside of the air box. This overflow tube should be routed down the side of the cylinder toward the ground. Not allowing this overflow tube to drain to the ground could become a FIRE HAZARD. The fuel tank vent tube goes to the evap. canister system and is not effected by this intake change.
Thank you for keeping an eye out. That larger tube is actually the crankcase breather hose, which normally feeds back into the airbox to force recirculation of any unusre fuel. At @1:00 you can see it feeding into the airbox, and the tube next to it is the fuel breather hose. Both of these allow unused fuel vapor to feed back into the airbox for emissions control (it goes back in and adds to the air mixture). What I'm doing at 5:53 is pointing it back at the air filter since there isn't a good way to feed it back into the MNNTHBX Mtake directly. The overlow drain (which is a smaller tube that comes back from the evap canister tube) does just drain to the ground. On the chimera intake the crankcase breather tube feeds directly into the exhaust while the fuel breather hose points more to the ground.
@@UnknownOverLand Feeds Into the exhaust? OK don't take my word for it, Open the gas cap and to the left of the fill neck is the overflow drain hole. Blow air down the hole and see were it comes out for yourself.
I don't know why HONDA connected this drain tube to the air box case. On other bikes the refueling overflow tube is just routed to the ground. If you look closer at the stock air box mount for this tube it has a split in it and there is no hole to the inside of the box.
Quick upgrade I bore out the opening on my stock air box made the hole bigger more airflow gained significant power saves me money. And I don’t have to worry about getting caught in the rain vs buying a non waterproof aftermarket intake.
I certainly wouldn’t submerge it, but it is an exposed intake filter. I picked up a pre-filter for it as well (basically a cover for the filter) which does a good job catching quite a lot of the smaller particles before hitting the filter. The filter is mounted mostly under the tank so downward rain won’t really make its way in, and road water can splash but I haven’t seen it bad enough to be an actual problem (especially with the fender and where it’s located.
I think resetting the ECU is really up to you. Over time, it will tend to "learn" about the new changes, but from what I've read it could take a while and resetting it gets it closer to where it needs to be quicker. I've also got a fuel mapper in the bike and an exhaust, so all of those together I felt an ECU reset really needed to happen.
Hi I watched your video and installed my MNNTHBX air intake! very pleased with the sound and increase in performance! I also reset the ECU as you described in your video but did notice afterwards my alarm now no longer works? I cant arm the bike or find bike? nothing happens when you press the key fob? Did you notice this problem? or has anyone else found this? Do I need to also reset the TPS as someone has suggested? how do you do that? thanks! great videos! I am also in the process of modifying my Monkey Bike and I am posting my thoughts on any problems I have fitting the parts rather than direct instructions on how to do so! you guys are doing a great job of doing that!

I’m unsure about your alarm (my bike doesn’t have an alarm or a key fob). I’d not heard of anyone having an issue with that before and I don’t think that an ECU reset should cause anything like that, but I can’t be completely sure.

The paper clip is only there for a bit to get everything to reset, and then you pull it back out. It's really just making the engine relearn the mapping a little quicker, which isn't a bad thing.
You reset the ECU.... and not reset the TPS?? In this case of changing the intake is more important to reset the TPS than the ECU (that it´s ok to also reset).

Do you mean that higher pitched "chirping" like sound? If so, not really. It's just how the air is moving through the filter. I have since installed a Pre-Filter over the top of it, which may help a bit. When I'm out riding, I don't really notice anything other than the louder rush of air being sucked in.
Did you try to ride it on a rainy day? I'm also planning to buy this intake, but I have to ride this bike for commuting regardless of the weather condition
I have not, but the stock airbox would definitely be a bit safer in that case. You may look into a less restrictive filter instead since that would still be a bit more enclosed. Most pod filters would be pretty good as long as you don’t submerge the bike, but I just can’t guarantee you’d have no issues.
It can get wet in the rain but is likely ok as long as you don't submerge the intake. I've actually put a pre-filter on it (like one of these mnnthbx.com/product/outerwares-water-repellent-pre-filter-wtop-for-dna-oval-filter/) which has helped keep the filter clean from most things that might be a problem.
I’m guessing you mean the grey silicon against the style of the rest of the bike; I agree, it isn’t the prettiest addition. Personally, I like it better than the huge air box and I think it goes with the slightly more industrial look since everything (throttle body, wiring, etc) is a bit more exposed.

That is to reset the ECU so that the bike will try to relearn since it will now have a new air/fuel mixture.

there is i believe 4 wires that run to that red plug inside the side cover what 2 wires do i need to connect the paper clip too
It’s the blue and green wires that need to be connected.

The little Honda engines are very resilient, which makes things a lot more fun to just goof around with.
