Short logs can be a challenge to mill. I try this method. Will it work?

  • I was asked to mill a log shorter than the distance between the log bunks on my Woodland Mills HM130 Max. I built some wooden bunks to fit between the log bunks to see if I could get this short log milled.

Shoot, you got it done Bud, that's all that matters. As you said, you don't normally mill short logs, so I wouldn't worry about finding a better way to do it at this point. To me, what you got done, and how you got it done seemed just fine to me.

What I do with short logs is lay a one inch board on the log bunks and a back board on the log stops. That way I can clamp the log tight. But remember not to cut into the stops or clamp because everything is higher than your one inch low cut mark.

Well, you worked your way through it and really how often would you be cutting short logs like that you’ll figure something else out if you need to do a lot of of it great video

I don't think I'll need to very often, but it could be done better, that's for sure lol
