Great! as my Canary losing his feather I was wanting to check if it's normal at this time of year but I can see now their sort of new one are coming out ... thank you for your sharing 🙂
My canary has the exact same collor as your bird. He's in a molt for 10 months now. He finally starts to look healthier and grow more feathers. It's because I changed his diet and I don't give him more than 12 hour of light. I put a cloth on his cage. It takes time for him to sing again. He used to sing a lot
How many hours of light are you giving him? anything less than 9 hours will keep them in a molt and the birds won't sing as much or at all if they are molting.
Enjoyed the video! I raise fife canaries. They are in a very large aviary 15'x15'x8'. I use a combination of windows and artificial lights. I keep my artificial lights on 14 hours a day year round. My birds still follow the outdoor sun light and wind down as the sun sets. They began molting August and are finishing gradually now. The males are singing happily. They are not showing signs of interest in breeding yet. I was told that having lights on 14 hours daily is very bad. They enjoy the light so much I left them on 14 hours. I do hope that once the molt is complete that they start to show interest in breeding.
My canary is puffed up also stop singing .. but has quite an appetite .. My first canary... Usually singing like crazy but last few days not so much . Sits on a perch and puffed up.when not eating Also stool is watery a bit.
@@thelegendarydoggo2955 sounds like the begging of first stage of the molting process. Dumb question but have you tried playing birds sounds or even opera . Also give it some lattice or some apple and see if he reacts as long as he isn't puffed up at the bottom of a cage. That's is a very bad sign
i have a male canary who hasn’t sang in 3 months.i checked his feathers and he has some of those old feathers u mentioned in your video. i think he is in a molt. he stoped singing around july and it is october 15 as of me writing this.i think he will take longer molting because i have a white canary that is always chasing him down and the molting canary is always breathing fast after they’re done. i let them free around the house from 9 Am to 10pm.10-12 hours a day.he’s eating well. looks healthy.crested yellow canary 😁⭐️ with lime green with black hair😁😄.is he molting? i’m concerned cause i want him to sing again😢. at most, long should canary’s molt ?
Hi! Your baby is beautiful. My canary is molting but he is excessively picking at his legs (thigh) and around his bottom. His leg looks red and irritated since he’s picking at it so much. What do you recommend that I do?
I just got my first canary and am wondering how many feathers is it “normal” for them during non-moulting time? Each day she seems to lose 10 or so of her small fluffy feathers.
Hello i love the color of that bird, you helped me big time with your video, thank you im looking for 1 or 2 females, how can you ship them? If you get any orders? My canaries are yellow and black very healthy they are molting now, my poor babies lol when they are not molting they sing so loud and beautiful i just love to hear them. These 2 males i have are from NJ one is 1 year and the other 2 or 3 years and this is the first time ive seen them molting i thought they were sick 😂😂 🤦🏼♀️ i even change their cage thinking it was that. Thank you again for your video and please let me know how can i get a female healthy for them?
I just got a two month canary and he was singing at her house and now at min nothing ? She also said that he is starting to molt . so far no feathers any where. . Would that stop his singing ?
Sir, do you have a plan for daily food that you offer to your canaries? I am new in this and I am confused about what I should provide to my pair besides the regular seed mix.
In addition to its seed mix, I usually alternate giving my canary a boiled egg (especially the white, which makes a good source of calcium), a small piece of peeled banana, lettuce, cucumber, or apple. Canaries love them!
Chris, I bought a canary same colour as yours just 3 weeks ago. He doesn't sing as often as the others on balconies here in Izmir....about 3 times a day. He's healthy not losing feathers, eating well, lively etc, not melting. He's only tweeting and sqwarking. He used to respond well to others singing on CZcams but not now.....and am puzzled 🤔
@@birdnerd yes he did but it's over now and he's still not singing despite hearing other birds and canaries sing on neighbouring balconies. Am so puzzled.
My Canary, if He's molting, He seems weak, barley able too get on His perch, it is August. I am Concerned He is Alone. I do have a Happy Light, it's getting darker. I'm Not seeing much for feathers. He is not flying like He was. He is singing a bit. If this is a molting, it's the worse one, He seems So Weak. He is eating, and drinkimg I think He may have had a bath tonight, He used too have one, every day. I bought Special food. I moved all his perches down, water down, food down.too help him Please Help with Advice
Sounds like your bird is sick. They should be able to still fly if they are molting. Give him a place in the cage to receive heat. He may need some vet advice for a specific medications.

I just got a canary last week and I don’t know if it’s a male or female. It mostly just chirps and does very short songs that last like 7 seconds. How can I tell if it’s a male or female?
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. Is the term "gouldian" used for canaries? I thought it's just for finches. Also, notwithstanding external factors (too much noise, too much/little light, too high a temperature), isn't canary-molting mainly regulated by "internal clock"?
Fantastic vid buddy. Always enjoy your content. I’m slowly getting there with my aviary extension and bird room. Still ain’t got a new computer so can’t sort a vid yet. Might do an unedited vid on the iPad. Not tried that before. I’m on Instagram and have a page on Facebook at the mo if you want to have a nosey? Keep up the good work atb Jezza
I will definitely check your sites out. Honestly my videos are super basic and have very little to no editing. You should get a video going and just post it man.
I liked his dragging on. I enjoyed looking at his birdroom and the scenery outside. He is well-spoken, interesting, and chatty. You need to learn how to take the time to smell the "canaries." Have you been hugged enough when you were little?
Great great video . Everything explained about the molt .
Thank you

Could possibly be mites. You can give him s76 or scatt to treat for mites. Also provide a daily bath for him

Canaries usually go for 60-100 dollars depending on the color and the gender.
on my website I have the cages posted www.littlebirdnerd.com
