Even though the new Sony XB43 has some really meaningful upgrades like an all new speaker set up which genuinely does sound better and it now has USB C charging which does make life a little easier. I can’t help but feel that performance wise this speaker does leave you wanting more and its not as big of an upgrade as I would like when compared to the XB41.

Why is it always about how loud or which one got the strongest bass?! It's about sound quality and here the sony wins. Jbl got zero equalizer functions, it's just a great partyspeaker for loud music. On low volumes the bass is too strong, just like with Bose. Gets exhausting for your ears. Sometimes you want to listen to music at a lower volume and here the sony clearly wins. Just put it on stamina mode and play around with the equalizer... Nearly perfect audio. I got two ones in stereo on my terrace, sounds incredible. And if you wanna party just activate the extra bass.
Sony for life. My favorite brand, got a portable discman from 92 and it still works!!

Everyone's ear is different. You have to determine what's important to you personally. The JBL Charge & W-King X10 are slightly more powerful speakers with deeper bass. But they also tend to distort at higher volumes. This speaker plays distortion free from 1-10. It also has more tech. It's really an individual choice.

Had my xb41 for 8months and accidentally left it on the roof of my 4wd and it bounced twice along the roof and came off at 80km/ hr on a corrugated dirt road. Turned around and picked it up, was almost crying but the dang thing still worked. The crazy part is giving it a hit to check if any broken bits floating around inside the unit and finding out for the first time that it has a drum kit feature. Double bonus for me that day...that was a year ago...still works perfectly...😊

The xb41 is great. The battery does last close to 24 hours played quite loud.
I use it when travelling for a whole year. Doesn't take up too much space in checked baggage. Carry on suitcase or backpack doesn't leave much room, lucky it's light.
Love the lights on it too. Good lil party speaker for the hotel room / pool / drinking areas where I stayed for a year.

  • @pantinhas7930

Allow the drivers to get a bit loose, it will sound louder eventually, same thing with the XB41 when I bought it back in 2018, it's significally louder now, the bass just wasn't there in the beginning, it also improves when you set it to audio quality playback mode. Anyway I'm also buying this one, I loved it. Good video as always, brother (:

  • @kensouza9239

Twist is in the end- I was looking for a speaker this week and watched lot of video reviews and comparisons. I had short listed JBL Xtreme 2, Sony xb43 and Bose portable home speaker. I spent an hour in a electronic shop standing close to these 3 and compared back to back with no ones interruptions. In my personal opinion Bose was the top and then the Sony and then JBL. All of them were loud enough so loudness didn’t matter. I played around 4 songs in each and I felt the quality of sound from Bose very very evident to me. Good quality music is what makes you listen to them for longer. I also felt Sony had better quality than the JBL. Here all 3 are priced at $399. So I made up my mind to get Sony. I do have JBL flip 3 from 4 years ago. Apart from battery and usb loose connection I didn’t have any issues.
I went next day straight to the Bose and spent about 30 mins between Portable home speaker and 500 home speaker. The quality of sound in both were almost equal but the loudness in 500 was next level and I could not keep full volume because it was too loud. So I was confused again. So I dropped JBL from my list and kept sony, and 2 Bose speakers. After comparing for a long time, I finally decided to spend more and bought Bose 500 home speaker for $599 and I can say it’s brilliant and it’s got built in google home and Alexa too which makes song search really easy. The base quality is next level. It’s everything one needs, it is very very loud and very very high quality sound.

  • @sammiches6859
    @sammiches6859 Před 3 lety +2

I think the problem with the loudness test is you only had the mic in one place, and Sony changed the speaker configuration. It would have made sense to put both of these in a corner of the room (instead of the middle) like they were designed to be used. Then put the mic measuring the sound directly in front of that. In my car, I put my XB-41/43 on my dashboard and used dual audio to play the same songs at the same time. The mids and highs were way clearer on the XB-43 and they were roughly equally loud. The bass is also more subtle, and doesn't distort the higher notes. In terms of balance, it is much better. Since it has a bigger battery, it is a better phone charger as well. USB is extremely convenient, and most of all, the edges are rubber. My girlfriend had two catastrophic events where she dropped the XB-41 and each caused a rip in the fabric that eventually grew over time. This XB-43 may not look as good, but it's more rugged, convenient, and has more of everything.

You would hope each year the tech and speakers just improve. Not stay neutral or go backeards. Or make it so you need to buy all new streakers in same brand of you want to connect them all.
This feels like a companies way of being sneeky & doing subscriptions. Making you buy all new speakers (of you buy just one you have but ask sizes & doubles etc) or they won't connect & for very little of any improvement.
Like they change the system each year.
I think it's a sneaky way. Plus they can deny it as just new and better tech.
Just make apart connection method and then stick to it for at least 3 years but preferably 5 or more. If it works and it fits work fine minor upgrades are silly if it means no backwards compatibility. That's why if they start doing it each year or second you know they are making it a sneaky firm of subscription or whatever you want to call it so you have to replace everything in the line again.
I might sound like a conspiracy nut but this is how companies think. Just like getting rid of 3.5mm jackd on phones. Samsung did on Note 10 then bought it back for lite. They do it to sell $200 buds & $20 dongles. Well this is the same type of crap. I mean if you are suddenly buying 2 or more speakers for part mode because no backward compat. Then they are doubling or more their profits.
Is great and genius without full deniability.
If they do it again next year you know they are. Engram every 2 years is unacceptable.
