I BUILT A NITRO COLD BREW KEGERATOR SETUP (and it was easy!)

  • I own a coffee shop called Chapter One: Coffee & Tea. We're located in Plattsburgh, NY just south of the Canadian border.
We recently added nitro cold brew to our menu. And to do that I needed to order a bunch of parts to make a kegerator. The install took me a total over 2 days with only one run to the hardware store. The setup was a lot easier than I was expecting but still took a lot of thinking and nerves.
It was a new experience for me.
I hope you enjoy the video and follow-me on other projects! I do small leather projects, some art projects, and general videos about running a small business.

Silastic makes a great seal for the tower. Use it on all my dust collectors and planning it for this.

I'll have to look that up. I used a rubber gasket material cut to size. Still going strong.

Hi the nitrogen gas bottle that you use, how much nitro coffee do you get until it's empty, and what is the most appropriate pressure to prepare nitro coffee, and have a happier day

Hi, I want to start a small project selling nitro coffee, and I wanted to know if I used a 20 liter nitrogen gas bottle, a 9 liter barrel, and a 40 pressure pump. How long does a nitrogen gas bottle last? Do I keep the nitrogen gas bottle open after pumping it into the barrel, and should I leave the nitro coffee for a while? Can you provide it directly? Thank you

Hey Chris, great job. Question for you, how much money did you spend to make the nitro brew? I've been thinking of making something similar to what you did.

I spent about $750 on parts. It was the least expensive option at the time.
It took about half-day to do the setup.

Are there any specifics you'd like me to cover? I can also make a series covering costs and planning...
      Thanks for asking.

How much did you spend on equipment, espresso machine, grinder, brewer, and would like to see a tour of your store. Thank you

What size Keg are you using? How many gallons?

    • @chrisrosenquest

Both kegs are 2.5 gallon Charlie kegs. Very convenient to clean and fill. The nitro keg has special nitro charging hose.

Hi Chris, just found this and am going to do the same (i already have a “kegerator” for homebrew beer). It looks like you just poured the cold brew concentrate straight into the keg ... i usually add milk or water to my concentrate at home. So are you kegging the concentrate or adding water to it before kegging (i ‘m assuming milk would go bad so its out of the question)? Just wondering if it would be pretty strong if you served the concentrate by itself? Thanks, greg

      Thanks for commenting.
We brew the concentrate and add water before kegging it. Adding milk to the keg IS out of the question.
