@@RunTheAtlas you should visit the grand hotel to eat there! You don't have to rent a room or anything and they have a gorgeous fountain with koi fish! If you come in winter then you should look into skiing here!
Edit: Anthony's is a great restaurant with a great view so you must go there if you visit!!!

Spokane is a beautiful city that is slowly outgrowing it's infrastructure. As far as I'm concerned, if you like mountains, trees, rivers, and lakes, Spokane WA and surrounding areas are an outdoorsmans' paradise.

Lucky u,this place separated me from my family,never met so many shallow ppl in my life,a witness to how fake ppl are,come to spokane,I had to camp where their filming because my coward roommate got a restraining order on me,cause he's a narcissist,don't come here.
Born and raised in northern Idaho Spokane was the big city to me when I was a kid. You did such a great job of showing some beautiful highlights of the city and surroundings. Living in Cincinnati for 50 years I still love to get back to the part of the county I love.
I grew up in Tri Cities, and went off the "big city" of Spokane for college. My new classmates laughed when they heard that.
@@peterussell673 Our perspective changes as time passes and our depth of experience increases. Lots of memories of driving from Sandpoint to Richland where family friends lived. Many in my class went to school at Gonzaga and still have many good friends in the "big city" and the Northwest.

Where you had those two smoke stacks in your video is an excellent restaurant called the Steam Plant. You can eat your dinner inside a large boiler. Another good place to eat is at Frank’s Diner which is inside a Presidential railroad car. We try to stop there if we have time when we visit Spokane. Someone below mentioned Dicks Burgers, my son had a hockey coach who always had to stop and get a bag of their burgers.
You must come again earlier in the year to see the river at full force in Riverfront! And during lilac season as we are known as the Lilac City! And you totally missed the Japanese gardens in manito!

Wow, I didn't know people outside of WA even knew about Spokane. I certainly didn't when my family moved here decades ago. You should have gone to the Historic Davenport Hotel just to check it out. It's so beautiful!

Spokane is a great city. It’s got lots of hiking, biking and wild turkeys. The only thing I would recommend from personal experience is don’t buy a car there. Other than that your good. Allots of shady car dealers and mechanics pray on the niceness of Spokane

Born Native of Spokane. I don't live there anymore, but its amazing. I used to live right on the river the majority of the time being there and it was amazing being able to walk down to the river and always having a open spot to sit alone and relax.

I have never seen travel vlog for my city. Kinda reminds you what a cool little city Spokane is. Not to mention with our freeway and north south main roads. Your really about 20 to 30 minutes away from anything at the most it always feels like.
We have thses cable cars in La Paz, Bolivia too and all around the city! SO magic!!
The video leaves out a few highlights like Gonzaga University, the mount Spokane ski area and the close proximity to dozens of lakes and the quaint and beautiful community of Coeur d'Alene. But the video is really well done.
We wanted to visit Gonzaga and Coeur d'Alene so bad! This area really has so much to offer. Next time for sure.

Spokavegas..... such a unique town. Pretty interesting history for it's age, lots of high points, and then the crime societal issues of a city twice it's size...... It and I have a love/hate relationship the past 40 years!

What a good vid.
The sculptures of people running are because of Bloomsday. Its a 7 mile run that is actually a lot of fun. I grew up there from when I was 6months old until I was 15 and 1/2yrs old. You shoulda stayed at the Davenport and the best thing about Spokane is the burger place called Dick's Hamburger's its located on like Division and 3rd st. And those gondolas were so unsafe when I lived there. You rode those back when I lived there if you wanted an adrenaline rush. And that water coming over those falls always looked like Mt.Dew because of the green color the water was when it really opens up.
So many beautiful places in Spokane and surrounding areas it would take2 years to visit them all.
Totally agree - Spokane is an amazing, we barely scratched the surface on the things to see here.
You've experienced 2 things I have never experienced in my life: manito park, and the arbor out there by liberty lake.
You both did such a great job showcasing Spokane!! Wish I saw this before our trip!

my wife and i visited Spokane exactly one month ago. i had watched this video a couple of times prior to the trip. like you guys we stayed in downtown so ended up going to a lot of the places you featured in this video. according to the locals Spokane is something of a progressive oasis in what is otherwise a pretty conservative part of Washington not to mention being so close to the Idaho boarder. anyways, we enjoyed our time in Spokane and i enjoyed re-watching your video since coming back. THANKS!

@@RunTheAtlas yeah we did. I’ve been all over Western Washington for many years now so finally making it out to the predominant urban area of Eastern Washington has been something of a bucket list item for a couple years now.
Progressive is nothing to be admired. Those cities are what end up bad like Austin TX and all the progressive people that moved there allowing crime to go up 71% in a year instead of staying where they were and fix their own cities, need to start waking up to the fact their woke progressive voting is ruining cities and now these thoughtless people move to ruin other places. Wake up people!!

I miss Spokane. I miss sledding down my hill. Around nighttime when it would snow very greatly, it would just be so beautiful with the way the the street is lit up by the the street lights. My neighborhood felt like the North Pole. Around that time when I was a kid we would actually celebrate Christmas at school. As a child it was so wonderful. I went to south pines elementary. We would make Christmas ornaments. Then when it was music time we would go to the music room and sing. And everything just felt so cozy. And that’s not even everything. If we’re thinking positive, there was a lot peaceful people. Not a lot of racism to me. I loved it. I live in California now and I pray I am able to one day move back with a family.

The river gets real dangerous in parts, just witnessed a attempted river rescue the other day. Real unforgiving river, beautiful tho
May, June and early July the river is high and water moves fast becuse of snow runoff. If you want a lazy ride then you go late July and August.
at three minutes you went right by nat park. except for bowl and pitcher I when fishing would simply walk out and go down the river more than a decade before expo. I would start at monroe street bridge and get out a few miles down and walk back up and back home. no raft needed

Is this a good place for a UK native to move to? I'm wanting great outdoors and decent priced houses.
If you are into the outdoors and are ok with having four solid seasons of weather, you will love it!
It's a pretty good place to move to from the UK, however one of Spokane's only downsides is that housing can get a little pricey. The northside isn't as expensive as the South hill though.
I remembered one of USC(LA) girl sudents who came from Spokane. She was a beautiful girl. I told her, "Is it good and clean water in Spokane?" She was smile. Los Angeles,

Maybe it’s because I’m from Los Angeles. I’m completely bored out of my mind. Downtown has many blocks of obsoletely nothing. Buildings with no names was my basic impression. A mall that wants to be an office building but what the heck let’s call it a mall anyway. Family can stay if they want but I’m driving to Seattle tomorrow.

The park is nice (after you pay to park nearby) but walking around downtown feels like a post apocalyptic zombie movie.
You pay to park downtown in every major city in the US. My office is in downtown Spokane and I have yet to be attacked by any zombies. Are you talking about the homeless population?
@@bredding1203it is free to park down in Coeur d' Alene and the park is nicer 😁 and yes the homeless but also many gang bangers. But Spokane is ok overall I would rather be back there then in Portland where I used to live also these days...but I live in the Philippine islands now it is funny how I feel safer in a "third world country"
Spokane is truly a great city to live in, having lived in the county all my life but only in the *city* itself for maybe 7 or 8 years. However, at night the downtown is definitely a very busy place lol

Beautiful city.... Lots of homeless people begging everywhere. Not safe. Epidemic car break in problem. I was walking my dog at a park and there were drug needles uncapped all over the play ground... Not same place anymore.
