    This video describes one way to back & finish a tufted rug-I call it a "waterfall edge." Here's what you'll need:
    1. Carpet adhesive/glue
    Roberts 3095 | www.homedepot.com/p/Roberts-3...
    AAT-1132 | www.bondproducts.com/shop/113...
    2. Non-slip rug pad | www.homedepot.com/s/rug%2520p...
    3. Spray adhesive | www.homedepot.com/p/Roberts-1...
    4. Fabric glue or hot glue
    5. Good, sharp scissors

    I’ve used the bond adhesive,
    Pros: dries mostly clear, is strong af, mostly flexible, almost no smell
    Cons: when trying to fold in those edges in tight it’s stiff
    It will not be tacky like the Roberts so it may not work with your current technique. Something I do to make sure I can get my spray adhesive all the way to the edge is I put masking tape over the exposed yarn so I can get closer to the edge and then for the backing I just make sure there’s something under it so I can spray over the edges.
    Your rugs look great though, I’ll definitely be looking for that backing. So far I’ve only used felt and they’re slick af lol

    • @defense360
      @defense360 Před 3 lety

      Hey! What type of felt do you like to use for backing? I'm considering switching to felt just cause it seems cheaper.

    • @SamSam-esqe
      @SamSam-esqe Před 3 lety +1

      @@defense360 I used just regular felt from Jo-Ann Fabrics. It works fine but again it’s very slick on a hardwood floor. If you go that route get the little sticky rug tags from Home Depot or Lowe’s to help keep it in place!

    • @manlymcstud8588
      @manlymcstud8588 Před 3 lety +1

      @@defense360 if you're going to sell these things, it should be easy to sell the customer on this method since it's already an expensive custom item anyway. if they won't come up off an extra $30 or so for durability, safety, and comfort, let them shop the guys who use the cheapest materials and tell them good luck. sell them on the fact that you're not profiting from the extra expense, and that you get what you pay for.

Now, I can't live another day without making a rug. So quick question... And forgive v me I'd you've c already answered this somewhere. In one of your be videos - I forget which one - you mentioned you b would be exploring low VOC options for adhesive. That's kind of a think for me so it might be a major barrier for me. Have you been able to make any headway on that? Thnx again. You rock!

    Love your rugs. You are very talented. Are these rugs machine washable? I crocheted a couple of rugs. At Joann Fabrics, I was advised to buy material that is used on the bottom of baby pj's footies. It is anti-skid. Time will tell how well this option works.

    Hi! I’ve been loving all your videos and recently started following you on Instagram as well. I just had the realization that I’ve never had a rug shipped to me and was wondering your packing process. Do the rugs need to stay flat or could they be rolled up? Can’t wait to see more from you (:

    • @AJMAKES137
      @AJMAKES137  Před 3 lety +1

      Ah yes, shipping is part of the process I’m still working on improving. The rugs are definitely foldable and rollable, which helps with shipping. I will usually fold or roll it, tie it with some yarn, and ship it in a box via usps. Once I get the process down a bit more, maybe I’ll do a video on it 😊
