Nikki, I have found your videos of the family hobby very interesting, especially since I am a chemical engineer. I use to work for a company that made Favors and Fragrances. When I started there, they filtered everything the same way that you filter the maple syrup, with diatomaceous earth through a plate and frame filter press. One of my projects was to test using cartridge filters and we found they did a much better job of filtering. There was no need for diatomaceous earth and the yield losses were almost eliminated. Have you ever tried filtering with a cartridge filter? Ken

Loved to see the new steam system! Looking forward to the untapping video for maybe some tips to better untap a tree! Would love to see some cleaning videos too… we often see only the ‘sexy’ side of maple sugaring , aka tapping and boiling, but as first year sugarers we realized there are a lot of hours that go into maintenance and cleaning 😥 Thanks for sharing your videos as always!

That's a pretty big sugar shack. How about a video on how you're going to use the building for things other that the syrup process in the off season. (I know it's new and you may not have an off season purpose for it yet) I'll bet you could use it as a gathering venue or just storage. I have to say, your content is fascinating. Your style is natural. Your product is #1.

Could you do a video explaining how the steam evaporator works (see if you can con Warren into explaining it on video🤣). I have run regular evaporators before but I have never seen the steam heated ones operate. Thanks

How is your waste water from the sugar shack handled? Do you have some treatment process? Good luck on your Turkey Hunting. Here in Iowa, our season is on. On my farm in S Iowa, Turkey numbers are way down. Lots of coyotes, bobcats etc.. overrun with Raccoons and Possums that get a lot of nests. I really enjoy your channel.

Got my first order just in time for easter breakfast and was not disappointed.
We have a place called Knotts Berry farm here in SoCal that is famous for their chicken dinners and their boysenberry jams. They used to have a boysenberry syrup that they sold that was really good, but they stopped making it due to lack of demand. I can't stand all the flavored corn syrup brands; I could not find one that I liked..until now.
Your organic maple syrup is way better than any I have tasted so if I jump on board, I need to know a few things. Do you run out? and when do I need to order so that I don't run out. and in-order to save on shipping I can double up on my orders?
BTW; I think these are great gifts for foodies like me. Great job on this product and I wish you and your family nothing but sucess with this.
Thank you so much! We do run out sometimes but I’ll post about it when we start getting low it’s usually later in the year! Also they are great gifts, I am currently learning how to build wooden boxes so I can offer gift box options! If I can’t figure out the boxes or they aren’t cost effective I’ll probably end up going with cardboard boxes. Regardless I should have gift boxes soon!

Someone told me along time ago that grade B is better than grade A for pancakes. More flavorful. I should do a taste test.
Typically The darker the syrup the more flavor it has!
How many different colors (grades) will you get in a season? Does the grade vary from season to season.
What I would love to see in future videos are your hunting videos and how you prepare/cook the game.
I’ve been wanting to share my hunts and cooking but wasn’t sure how CZcams would like it! Maybe I’ll try it this turkey season as I have several ppl I’m guiding and one is a chef 🙂 so we could make an awesome field to table video!

That’s determined by external factors! Typically we make multiple grades throughout the season and sometimes multiple grades in one night!

Thank you for posting, I like what used to be called grade "B" syrup, i've been wondering is it made just by boiling the sap longer to darken and concentrate the flavor, or does it also have to do with what i thought I've read being part of a late season run of the sap or is that part a myth or is it a combo of both, boiling and just using a late run of sap, thank you!
Thanks for the info on grading. I was going to ask that. I have been eating real maple syrup for many years and couldn't go back to the fake stuff, just not right after the real stuff. I have a question if you haven't already answered in a previous video. How many taps can a single tree handle without a problem?
Depends on the size of the tree! 3 is the absolute max. I explain it in this video - Tapping Maple Trees. Everything you need to know before tapping!

What is your gallons of syrup per tap equivalent? On another note, not to be nosey but you showed us cleaning your filter press and washing the filtrate laden water down the drain. Risky buisiness! That stuff can turn into concrete if it's to much. Don't mind me though.
